The Saint’s Day after the Senate Elections of Balian were completed, under the request of Cardinal Lotharia, the Cardinal-Regent of Balian, the new Senators of Balian met for an emergency convening.

 

The Senate session began with the mandatory oathing of all new Senators to the Kingdom, swearing themselves to work for the Kingdom of Balian and the denizens of its lands, no matter how important. Once this was done, the important task of electing a new Gran Orator for the session. 

 

Both Senator Rorin and Senator Vuiller stood for such a role, and then gave speeches. Senator Rorin used hers to discuss prior service and leadership of the military and the insight she has, whereas Senator Vuiller spoke of his energy and wish to better the Kingdom for all. Ultimately upon the vote for such, Senator Rorin won and was named Gran Orator.

 

As per the Cardinal–Regent’s request he then spoke to both those in the Gallery and the Senators. With this time, he spoke of how he had seen the Balianese people were truly dedicated to GOD and the canonist faith, but how he wished to retire from the role of Regent of the Kingdom of Balian. As such, he then asked the Senate to vote upon who should succeed him as the leader of Balian as the Segnoria had prior.

 

The Senate opened the floor for debate, however the only concern was from Senator Vuiller whom expressed a will for precaution with the proceedings in order to ensure a smooth transition that would not bring further turmoil to the Kingdom. After such the vote was held and with such the unanimous vote was for John Casimir Novellen d’Atrus, Prince of Monterosa and Duke of Atrus to take rulership of Balian.

 

With this vote complete, the Gran Orator opened the floor for any propositions, yet none were offered and as such, the first convening of the Senate was dismissed.
