Can a Orc kiss?

No, no. There's a difference between a love punch and a fight punch.

Kissing, cuddling, and holding hands are things that should be kept in private. Showing affection is showing weakness. You're basically pointing out your own emotional soft spots. So while I may cuddle Gragarn in private, it's shameful to do that around other orcs. Punching shows strength, dominance, and camaraderie. Go with punching. If she's human, you can punch softly.

But you never punch me softly!

Actually, interracial relationships should be the hardest. If you show any weakness to a human mate then you should be ostracized from the orcs. Taking on an interracial mate is a big deal, and not many pinkies earn the favor of the Warnation. Pinkies have to actively work to earn respect from the orcs. If an orc was "soft" on a pinkie life mate then all orcs would then assume the the orc himself is soft and weak. If you give any special treatment to a non-orc mate then it's a sign of weakness. Lothiriel earned her place at Mogroka's side, and doesn't get special treatment. She lives as an orc does.

As Urara said, this only applies in public where people can actually see it. In private you can do whatever you want.

Yeah. Loth is like Lex. We accept them as honorary orcs. Life mating with a pinkskin who hasn't earned that honor would probably be somewhat shameful. Of course, there's no law against it. You just have to beat up everyone who makes fun of you.

I think that if an orc was strong enough, he or she could basically take anything as a life mate. You want to be life mates with a cactus? Okay. But you have to be strong enough to prove your love for that cactus if someone challenges you.

EDIT: Okay, now seriously. I guess that final note of this thread is that orcs do show affection, just not quite in the same way that humans do. Our society is based on strength and acting softly, even toward another orc, may cause others to mock you. So it's important to remain strong and dominant, even with a person you love.

For instance, Gragarn and I roleplay that Urara gave Gragarn his scorpion tattoo. For orcs, I think something like that would be a really intimate gesture. It involves Gragarn humbling himself by asking Urara for help, which would be a big deal. Plus, even though it wasn't romantic in the traditional sense, it's something they did together as a couple. It's not a soft and cuddly romance scene, but Urara giving Gragarn a tattoo would be a very intimate, tender thing among the orcs. The fact that he admits Urara helped him is also a sign of affection and love. It's subtle, but it's there.

Am I the only one who finds this topic a bit weird? I mean, you can have your life-mates but it doesn't need to become philosophical or the main body of your actions. There are tons of other orc RP questions that I would consider more important that have been left completely unanswered.

We could just come up with a simple solution like: life-mates bang heads, or mate on the stop, or whatever it might be; but this isn't really what I consider to be a good environment to get your dose of affection.

Agreed. Orcs aren't really a "romance" race.

*says the roleplayer who, along with her boyfriend, basically started the life-mating thing.

Hah! I would pay lots of Minas to see that.

"That's one mighty fine cactus over there. Hold me ale while I go introduce myself!"

Blaw loved a cactus once. The world cactus. It was the greatest cactus in all the lands. But someone destroyed that cactus one day while Blaw was away. If Blaw ever finds the one that did it...
