HERE RESTS MANNFRED ‘MANNY’ BAUER

 

BORN: ???  - DEATH: 2009

 

Manny, after enjoying an evening at Nadya Weiss’ Hauchmetvas, meanders to New Valdev in search of a comfy seat, hoping to look up at the stars as he typically does. 

 

As he entered New Valdev, though, his heart began to race. It grew faster and faster, and wouldn’t let up. His breathing was harsh and quick, and he realized; it was nearly time. Was this it? What about his loved ones? His friends? What about his soon-to-be comfy seat? 

 

He quickly strode throughout New Valdev, searching for the perfect spot to rest. It needed to be perfect—  it needed to be just right! Then, he saw it.

 

The Shrine to Blessed Amaya of Venzia.

 

 He remembered that name, more than any in his old age. Although he wasn’t the best at reading, he knew for sure it was hers. He remembered the kindness she showed to Manny on that day before he joined Reinmaren Levy. He remembered the gratitude he felt for even that small sum of mina he was granted by the late Queen. He smiled. This, this was the spot. 

 

He took a seat next to the shrine, resting his head against it. Nothing else mattered, now. Every moment, every heartache, every joyous celebration was but an inch compared to the scope of all things. He found comfort in that, knowing that even though the world may seem cruel, unusual, and oftentimes belligerent, there was still that inkling of kindness that shined within the darkness. 

 

He wept a single tear, smiled, and took his last breath. 

 

Here rests Mannfred ‘Hobo Manny’ Bauer.

Hello!

 

Manny was one of my oldest personas. I felt it was a good time to send him off, as I have no intention of playing him further. 

I've enjoyed all my interactions with him, especially those of Haense who have treated him well. 

 

Thank you for such a lovely time with an entertaining persona!

Kazimir Weiss, in the company of his friends, found the peacefully resting 'Hobo Manny.' It was difficult to tell he had passed at all, the smile on his face fooling the boy at first glance.

 

He remembered, not even days before, the face of the stranger knocking on the door to their keep—a friendly soul with smiles to share at his family's table, now gone just as fast as he had come to know his name.

 

Kazimir paid his respects to the man, carefully moving him from the elements. It was strange to miss someone so quickly...
