The Head Physicians Resignation

Dear Norland,

Medicine has been the driving force of my life, my anchor through hardship, and my purpose through every challenge I have faced. But I can no longer bury my head in books and bandages while the world around me demands my attention. It is with a heavy heart that I officially resign from my post as Head Physician of Norland’s Clinic. This is not a decision I make lightly, but it is one I must make.

For nearly six decades, I have served within these walls, and for the past fifteen years, I have had the privilege of leading the clinic and guiding its medics. It has been my greatest honor to tend to the people of Norland, to teach those who would carry on this craft, and to uphold the duty of care that has defined my life. Leaving is not easy, nor is it without sorrow.

To my students, I offer my deepest apologies. I regret that I cannot continue to stand beside you within the walls of Norland, but know that my teachings do not end here. If you seek guidance, I will still offer private lessons—simply send a letter, and I will answer.

As for the clinic’s future, I cannot say what will come next. The decision of who will take my place is not mine to make, nor will I be part of that conversation. I will not be returning to Norland—not as a physician, nor as a resident, but for those who have need of me, you will always find me just a bird away.

Vykk's eyes trace the words of the open letter, each line carving another wound into an already aching heart. A dull, stabbing sorrow courses through him, but he steels himself, forcing the pain into the depths of his resolve. He had made his choice. The right choice. And with every kinsman who followed, a grim sense of vindication took root.

"I mourn what we leave behind," he murmurs, voice heavy with the weight of loss. "But the All-Father knows—what is right is never what is easy."

With a slow breath, he pulls his coat tighter, his scarf drawn high over his face. His gaze hardens against the cold, against the past. "We've lost our home before. But Norland never dies..."

Amethyne turned to Natalia and gave her friend a hug and a pat on the back to comfort her through this new move. "You did the best that you could as a leader for us all in the clinic and has a health provider. You've done a good job."

Walter read the missive, letting out a small hum afterwards. He handed the missive back to his automaton "I wonder if I could be of help, I have halted my works in the field of medicine for the sake of clockwork for a while now. Perhaps it is time I revisit what got me here in the first place."

A pale ker reads the letter before saying "I see I will have to send her a new letter and ask what time we can met up for more lessons, and where."

A young woman would read the letter of her teacher staring at it confused, she had not spoken to anyone yet. and had missed all that has happened. She would quickly pick up a piece of paper and started to write a letter to her teacher.
