Explanation

We had been sitting in the Covenant VC for no more than ten minutes when Gridlock joined and tried calling me a traitor to the Covenant because I am unable to attend any warclaims due to work and travel plans. Following this Yeetboy jumped in and defended me and Gridlock demanded that Yeetboy compare me to a historical figure which he did, someone from the Roman Punic Wars, following this Gridlock attempted to compare me to the most hideous man of the Nazi Regime Josef Mengale. As you can see responding brashly to such an accusation is warranted simply because of the atrocious acts that man committed. And being compared to one of the most evil men in history is not something I take lightly and my friend Yeetboy jumped in quickly to defend me. All of this was observed by Digit.

I was in the Covenant's VC speaking casually with Yeetboy and CasualNuker when he join a couple of minutes later. As Nuker has said, Gridlock came into the VC and soon began to discuss what had happened at yesterday's warclaim. This conversation seemed to be okay, but I was personally able to tell there was some form of tension in this discussion.

The discussion then went to speaking about how the Covenant side had fewer men than the Church side, which was when Nuker replied that he had IRL obligations, such as work and travel. As a way to make up for the fact he would not be able to join, Nuker has been supplying materials for the war effort and was met with aggression from Gridlock. I am not sure how the discussion splintered off to speaking about what historical figures folks felt like they could compare themselves to, but Yeetboy had compared Nuker to two prominent Roman officials from the Second Punic War, namely Scipio Africanus and Quintus Fabius.

The final nail in the coffin was when Gridlock remarked that CasualNuker reminded him of Josef Mengele, a name many should be able to recognize from the Second World War. Nuker then immediately left the call after this comparison was made.

 

In my personal opinion, it is not appropriate to demean anyone that is not able to participate in an event the way you would like then. No one should be forced to sacrifice their IRL life for a game. Even more so, it is even more inappropriate to compare someone to one of the most heinous individuals in modern history. I advise Moderation Team to provide a verdict that would deter this kind of behavior in the future.

I will place my testimony of what happened and try to be as fair and unbiased as possible. 

 

So the beginning of this started when Nuker was talking in VC with me and several others, including Digit. Gridlock entered, and while Nuker and everyone were debating, with several attempts to troll Nuker by accusing him of being a traitor to the Covenant, he asked to compare Nuker to a historical figure. Taking it as innocuous, I compared Nuker to a figure from the Second Punic Wars, and then Gridlock proceeded to say he always got Josef Mengele vibes from Nuker. Knowing Josef Mengele from my world history studies, I immediately called out Gridlock, telling him it was not okay. Nuker left the VC shortly afterwards and got upset with Gridlock in the Gen Chat of the Discord. Gridlock responded immediately by laughing and telling Nuker not to take it so seriously. Others in the Discord attempted to calm the situation down, but Gridlock continued to rile Nuker up. Nuker shortly afterwards made this ban report. Nuker later came back to VC, only for Gridlock to return as well to continue to try and rile Nuker up. Nuker left once again, and I continued to tell Gridlock to knock it off until he left. Leadership came in shortly afterwards, asking about it. I informed them of what I saw, and they brought Gridlock in to hear his testimony. He claimed it was just a joke, but leadership told him that this was not something to joke about and to apologize to Nuker. Nuker came back to the VC after I informed him of this, and when Gridlock had the opportunity, he continued to joke and did not try to sincerely apologize. Nuker left immediately afterwards, and he promptly left. After this, Gridlock left VC, and leadership is now properly discussing the incident and is in the middle of crafting a response, and all of the gen chat messages were deleted in the meantime. Gridlock also posted a now-deleted screenshot of a privately DM'd attempt to apologize before Nuker blocked him, and currently, he is not showing any sincere remorse for his actions, nor taking the situation seriously. 

I leave the judgment of the situation up to the moderation team.

As an observer of Gridlock's general behaviour in the Covenant discord and in-game, I'd also like to bring this up as a similar point of reference that Gridlock during the Raid on Kretzen began typing out the lyrics to the Erika marching song that was composed in Nazi Germany by a composer who was a member of the NSDAP and continued to compose works for their rallies. This song's reputation is solely attached to its affiliation with Nazism and WW2. Moderators, if they so wish, would be able to see logs of him saying it in-game, but here is a reference he made to it in the Covenant discord. If comparing people to certain Nazis is punishable, as it has been in the past, I would imagine so too is glorifying and/or making out of pocket references to Nazi songs would be as well when taking into account their other similar behaviours surrounding Nazis. The context to people "chanting German" is Waldenians in Reinmar speaking a Waldenian warcry "Wer rastet der rostet" during the raid which does not have any political implications, especially among Nazism, in Germany in real life.

As I was browsing the Covenant Discord today for messages previously sent by Gridlock, I came across some of the more interesting things he has stated, which I have attached here.

For one, we have this one here where he mentioned he had found a battle similar to the Warclaim on March 29 and proceeded to say it was the Bombing of the Children's Hospital in Gaza, once again showing his insensitivity towards such topics.

The further evidence I’ve attached here continues to show that over the last monthly Gridlock is quite insensitive, and has widely shared messaged of pro-Nazi reels, music, and also extends to other insensitive topics as well. Thank you for your time.
