Under the searing glare of the Southern Sun, three valiant Haelunorian Liberty Officers ventured bravely into the square of Balian, a once peaceful mission with the predetermined goal of the exploration of Balian’s capital devolved turned to violence as soon as they were discovered. In the blink of an eye, the dolorous drone bell sounded out through the vicinity, and five Balianites would approach them armed and ready, attempting to seize, capture, maim and even kill our Blessed Envoy.

It was then once the first Liberty Officer, Sixty-Nine, known more commonly as Sohaer Valindra, loosed an arrow that skimmed the eye of an infamous balianite loyalist, a second, magical arrow swiftly rendered them unconscious, and out of the fight. A second Balianite stayed behind to stem the injuries of the Injured, horrified by the swiftness and accuracy of  the Sohaer’s shortbow. The other two Liberty Officers wasted little time in culling the greater horde of Balianite barbarians, funnelling them through their own defences, pelting them with arrow and fireball alike. The final Liberty Officer, clad in humble magus robes, promptly turned the tides further in the Haelun’orians defenders’ favour with a lethal flamethrower, wrought of cobalt flame that rendered one into little more than a pile of ash.

As the Embers settled and the battle field fell silent, the Liberty Officers emerged victorious, having captured two Balianites who feared for their lives, but could not escape while a third was killed in the combat. Silver Justice had been served that day, though the Haelun’orian Envoy wished to share the spoils of a battle won. As prisoners of war, the two captives were transported to Burgundy as prisoners of war, as a token of esteem from the Sohaer and Silver State.

Despite being outnumbered nearly 2:1, the superior wit and steel of the Silver State of Haelun’or had won the day.

To HRH King John II of Balian and the Balianese People,

Two of your citizens lie dead, felled by elven spell and human sword alike. How many more need to die in order for you to swallow your pride? I have been told that it is a grievous valah sin. The Silver State finds no enjoyment in laying waste to your population; while it is vastly easier for you to spawn such than we of pointed ear, we believe that life is sacred, and any lost is a tragedy.

This blood may stain my hands, my blade, but so too does it stain yours, that of your own people that you send freely to their deaths, their suffering. This war becomes a slaughter by your volition and yours alone. Our treasured allies, the Kingdom of Burgundy and the Canonist Church have readily extended the hand of mercy only for you to spit on their efforts like some insufferable man-child.

What do you seek to gain from this bloodshed? History is told by the victors, after all. You shall be known centuries from now as the man who sent his own people to their deaths while he simply watched from the comfort of his ivory towers and palatial quarters.

I am many things, your highness, but I do not sit idle when my people need me. I lead the charge on the  battlefield, I tend the sick and injured and I cut down those who would shun the peace being offered so perhaps they might know a semblance of it in death.

Continue to cower in your keep, hide away while your people die like dogs, but know this, Humanity and its stalwart allies come for you.

A weary spell-blade as well as adamant Liberty Officer set himself down upon a stool that outlined the edges of a fireplace. A blade was set to the side, tip down in its scabbard, recently cleaned from whatever filth had plagued it, as it was placed against the wall. The gloved hands of the Mali'aheral gently massaged at the bruises on his person, the cuts mostly scabbed over at this point. His azure gaze met the fire.

"I do hope those that care for their lives have long since left.. Otherwise it is lambs to the slaughter."

He gently leaned back, muttering to himself. And so he took a deep breath, allowing the violence of that day to slowly roll off of him during his act of exhaling.

Okarir'tir Theveus Sythaerin would sit at the Haelun'or Tavern, a smile on his face. It was not long before the missive was made, and he had his hands on the first copy.

"Good Job today, we showed them once more who might not be the biggest, but who is indeed the toughest."

He would nudge his arm to Valazaer, and of course of good friend Valindra.

"Perhaps one day we will be lucky enough to snag their king, or of course their queen. Unlikely, I imagine. They do have a tendency to hide in ivory towers so high in the sky, even we High Elves can't reach them, lest we be so lucky as to find them amongst their people, I doubt it."

And with that, the successful Okarir'tir would drink the rest of the night away, a happy smile on his face as he got blacked out at his success

Valindra sat beside her Okarir'tir, glass of Visaj Red in hand not as a Queen, Empress or Sovereign, but as a humble soldier and servant of the Silver State, chosen by the Blessed Citizenry to lead her people to greatness.

"... Brave, but foolish."

Mused the formerly Fennic noble as she ruminated upon the events of that day, the dauntless charge of the Balianites who thought their victory to be all but assured, only to be quashed through superior tactics and potent spellcraft.

"We're, as the kids say, 'so back'."

After receiving a somewhat... disturbing letter from a certain Alban, Einin hastily penned a letter to a friend. She laid awake that night, watching the window, awaiting the arrival of a pigeon. As the minutes turned to hours, and no pigeon, Einin rose from her bed, kneeling beside it and praying.

Juniper, albeit uninvolved, caught wind of the missive while on her way to annoy Lothar, as she so frequently does. When she read it, she laughed. "Valindra, believing all life is sacred?" She snickered, recalling how the very same Sohaer attempted to end her life for the sole reason that she had gotten engaged to her ward. "Oh, how foolish they are to blame the very people they are actively seeking to kill." And then she tucked the paper away to later show her companion.

"Is it almost over?" Johanna asked as her eye was tended to. No medics travel to Balian anymore, so she resorted to wandering. Perhaps it was the blood loss that made her dizzy, made her not think. "You have what, two more years until it is done? Will you keep sending those God-forsaken elves after us even when it is over?" Low defeated words fell from her lips. It was tiring, being an 'infamous Balianite loyalist'

Warrin reads over the missive with a sorrowful but angry look in his eyes. "I never should have trusted the people of Haelun'or."

He would then burn the missive with voidal flame, walking to his apartment to get his sword in case he ever needed to use it again one day.
