ejoice! In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Twenty Nine, upon the eve of the dedication of St. Charles of Petrus, a fair and bounteous light hath been kindled within the House de Rouen. Let all who dwell within the bounds of this realm and beyond hearken unto these glad tidings: The Lady Rosceline, faithful Lady-wife of the Heir to the Rouennais, hath been delivered of a male child, strong of limb and lusty of cry, born beneath the waning crescent moon as the bells of Saint Julia did toll the midnight hour.

The child, someday rightful heir to the March of Drusco and to the sacred charge of his noble forebears, hath been christened Raymond Thibaud, in honour of the valiant knights and pious holy men who shaped the blood of his line. Witnessed by the goodly physicians, the midwife sworn unto the House, and the Lady’s own confessor, the birth was met with prayers and thanksgiving. I, Lord Roger of Bourdon, doth give thanks to Almighty God for this precious boon, and pledgeth mine son to the service of Crown, Church, and Country. Let the bells of holymen ring across this shire, let tapestries be hung from the walls of Waldemer, and let the ale flow freely in celebration, for in this child is secured the legacy of Rouen, and with him the hope of a steadfast future.
