SUEKICHI - THE FUTURE BLESSING

  • To live of life of Shidai and to die living by it’s ways is an honor. Anyone who truly devouts themselves to Shidai does not fear death, rather embrace what is to come. Those blessed enough get the chance of rebirth into something greater.

In the dark hours of the Monastery nestled upon the elevated point of Sakuragakure in her monastery, Mitsue Matsuzaki Shibuya-Manami laid beneath silken sheets in her pagoda, surrounded by the fading scent of incenses she’s created. The air was still, heavy with the presence of something sacred - perhaps something eternal. Shibuya, the first Mitsue of Sakuragakure, had long devoted her life to the divine path, her every prayer, ritual, and act of compassion offered toward the dream of transcendence. It was her belief, firm and unwavering, that with pure devotion and service, her spirit would be reborn as a Kami, a guardian of the village and the shrine she had nurtured from the earth and sky.

Her life's work was immeasurable. It was she who took the teachings of Bata and transformed it into Kakuriyo Tsunagari, the ancient practice that bound the spirit world to the living, teaching the Mikos how to walk between the veils of existence and commune with the hidden forces of nature in order to heal, create and communicate with the Kami they pacted with. Under her guidance, the shrine became more than a place of worship—it was a cradle of healing and learning, a sanctuary for orphans and wayward youth. Many who once arrived frightened and hollow-eyed would leave years later bearing warm hearts, steady hands, and the strength of purpose instilled by her teachings.

In her final evening, her breath shallow and skin pale as the moon, Shibuya sent for the Shugo, Atsuko, who had since become not just a trusted friend - but her true life companion. She was the Shugo’s favourite woman, and in return - Atsuko was her’s. The Mitsue, ever weak in her words from age and untouched illness, asked Atsuko to stay with her through the night. She feared not death, but loneliness, for the warmth of a kind soul beside her was the only comfort she longed for. In the quiet hours before dawn, within the modest sanctity of her chamber, Shibuya passed away softly, held in Atsuko’s arms in the shared bed beneath the very same silks. And that morning, held in the small arms of TOMASU who she too was devoted too.

DAIKYOU - THE GREAT BAD FORTUNE

  • A blessing it is to be reborn, but bad fortune to learn the truth of it. No one speaks of the real ways a Kami is to come, only of how it is classified and the folklore that goes with it. There is a reason only the most determined souls make it to the path of Kami and Yokai, and it is their choice to decide how to proceed.

“I’ve been waiting a long time for you, Matsuzaki.”

“. . .”

“I know you do not see me, but I am very much here with you.”

“What is this..?”

“Your time has come, Matsuzaki. How was it?”

“.. How was what?”

“Life, your devotion to Shidai and all the obstacles you faced. Do you have any regrets?”

“.. No. I believe I did what was right, what I needed to do. I gave my life to Shidai and that was my purpose.”

“What do you think comes next? Do you realize what has happened?”

“I dont know. Am I dead?”

“Almost, but I wish to ask you something before we continue.”

“What is it, Kami?”

“That, Kami. You claim I am a Kami, but what if I am not one at all?”

“.. A yokai?”

“Perhaps to your people, but not to Shidai.”

“I do not want to talk to you then.”

“Ah, you have little choice. Even in death, are you still devoted to Shidai, Matsuzaki? Do you still believe in all you taught?”

“Of course.”

“Then you must be able to accept the hard truths of your religion, and what borders pure faith and reality?”

“.. what do you mean?”

“What if you need to talk to me, to reach your goal?”

“... what?”

“Come on, Matsuzaki, tell me - you are an expert on what you wish to become and despise. The Kami and Yokai - the Specter and Poltergeist. Do you truly think you can become what you want, without the middleman?”

“.. You are a Soul mancer.”

“That I am. But answer the question, Matsuzaki - do you truly think you can be reborn, be given your goal without the work of my people? Do you think these Kami, these fellow specters would exist.. Without us?”

“. . .”

“You’ve known this for awhile now, havent you? You preach against us, say it is unnatural - yet its the most natural and true way. It is the only way to make your words reality, is it not?”

“.. I am no liar. There must be a way, there always has been.”

“I am not calling you a liar, but you aren’t exactly truthful either, are you?”

“I did what was right, I preached knowledge I was taught and I passed it down to my women.”

“That you did. And you explained perfectly the cycle between phases of ghastly apparels. Yet you always leave out the work of the middle man, you always skip the part where in order to come back - it isnt by chance, it’s by us.”

“.. it is by chance, by chance we are picked.”

“Yes, but be picked by who?”

“. . .”

“Tell me, Matsuzaki .. I have the power to make you want you want, to become someone worshipped by your people. To become a Kami in your religion - to be a specter and beloved by all. To be visited, to see your friends. That is what you want, is it not?”

“. . .”

“Tell me.”

“Is this a dream?”

“You may call it that, but it may be your last if you do not answer me.”

“.. Yes. that is what I want. It was my life goal, everything I did was for that goal.”

“Then that is what you shall receive.”

“Why are you doing this? Who are you and why ..?”

“Worry not of such, just know your lies and truths. Know the details you leave out are ones all must face. Know that even you, must face it takes the work of us to create what you desire.”

“. . .”

“It will take years, you wont be granted all you want immediately, But know - the day will come where you find yourself at your true potential, at where your goal lies.”

“. . .”

“Goodbye, Matsuzaki.”

“. . . goodbye.”

DAIKICHI - THE GREAT BLESSING

  • Once one accepts the reality of their religion, is when they can move on into something greater - whether is be for better, or for worse. It takes time, but once embraced one will be given the ability that more people of the past hold that current.

reading and shaping the fortunes within the Omikuji - the sacred slips of fate. Her grand shrine, once a humble place tucked away within her pagoda, has since become the nucleus of a spiritual renaissance for those with the gift of Kakuriyo Tsunagari. In her honor, the Mikos who trained under her guidance, and the Naishoten who once served beside her - now taking her place, constructed grand shrines across the monastery and in dormitories, all in hopes of helping her reach her goal of rebirth.

Yet, in accordance with the Shidai way, no funeral rites were held for Mitsue Shibuya. Death, in its finality, is considered a source of impurity in Shidaipractice, and so her passing was met not with mourning, but with reverent silence. The paths she once walked were swept clean, the sacred bells rung, and her shrine left untouched for seven days - an act not of grief, but of sacred respect. Her followers did not cry out or erect monuments of grief. Instead, they continued her work - Replacing the EMA wall, tending to healing the nation, and drawing the Omikuji cards for villagers who still feel her presence guiding their fate.

It is said that before her death, Shibuya accepted a truth she had long known but rarely Three years have passed since the departure of Mitsue Shibuya, the shrine maiden whose legacy has only grown in words and memory. In life, she was known for her unwavering devotion to the spirits, her mastery of the traditional and secret rites and knowledge taught only through word of mouth, and most notably, her uncanny gift in spoken aloud. She had seen the strings of fate not only as they were but as they could be, and she had learned to walk among them without fear. She sought nothing but recognition, only the perfection of her spiritual craft - and in that, she succeeded. No longer merely the master of fortune, she has become something greater. From the realm of reverence and whispered prayers, there now arises a new Kami: Matsuzaki, the Kami of Fortune. Her shrines shimmer with the subtle grace of the specter, her voice felt in the wind-chime’s song and the rustling of leaves when pilgrims draw their fortunes. Where once she read fate, now she weaves it.

And so, though her body was never enshrined, her spirit never left. Mitsue Shibuya, now a deity in the hearts of her faithful, lives on - not in memory, but in presence. The Monastery now her sanctuary.

KICHI - A BLESSING

  • Once one has passed, their belongings typically pass to those who inherit such, either it be friends, lovers or family. What lies amongst the items given may not always be grand, but it is something to cherish nonetheless. A mere blessing.

“As my hair grays and and my skin loosens and sags, I know my time is running out. I am no Yosei, I am just a woman who’s life has ran it’s coarse. I have gotten ill recently, nothing magical - a natural illness that comes with age. Though my magic may have kept me in good shape, I have refused to use it to treat me. Kakuriyo Tsunagari is to be used to heal and tend to people - and those who do not follow may faith may use it to cleanse themselves of whatever sickens them. But for the right of Shidai, death should not be avoided if it finds your naturally. Therefore, this was my sign it was time to let go, and such I did.”

Kato Ena receives the notice of Shibuya's passing while he was putting a girl on. Mother Rajiya, within the Bastion Temple of Saint Caius mourned her old friend and business associate. Despite legal issues between them that had near threatened their friendship, there was always a soft spot for Shibuya in the shinobi's heart. A constant staple of his blind childhood. A woman figure alongside the Shugo (a brave an independent Farfolk woman as well) that would soften his coarse actions after the loss of his okaasan - offering him a smidge of a heart. But such a smidge blackened with Shibuya's death - Ena would take out his mourning in masculine toxicity through violence towards other. The Kami Nokumi would be pleased and perhaps offer Shibuya a gift on Ena's behalf in the hereafter.

He resided by Shibuya's side hoping the most loyal of his devotees would get UuuUUuuuUUuuup.

The Ko Shisai Onna Musha would gaze upon the Shidai temple with a tired and somber gaze. She made her way up the steps, bowing her head lowly as she went under the torri gates as she entered the sacred grounds. At the entrance of the shrine, she would take her geta off and sets them to the side before entering the threshold. "Shibuya-san." She muttered as she positioned herself before the alter where the remains of the Miko and bows deeply. "You were one of the two women in the village who taught me how to be Lady-like. Arigatou for the lessons you gave me and may you find your peace." She muttered her prayer before going silent for a moment. Straightening up, she stood up. Looked down with another frown. Then turned to leave putting her geta back on which clicked-clacked against the grounds heading back down to the village once more.

HERA, GINGER

- Kichi, A Blessing; While I do not have anything of value you may enjoy, I do have some words. I am forever greatful for you help with the Monastery, as well as introducing my women and men to the shaman magic of Kakuriyo Tsungari that we know today. I hope that you stick around and continue to help - and keep an eye on Yano for me.

Spoiler

First name Hera, last name Ginger

The GINGER smiles upon the note, a bittersweet one. And so it was, she began to carving a new bead for her hair. . . Small sakura flowers patterned into its design.

In a silent walk, Nozomi made her way to the Pagoda, each steps heavier than the previous one. Paper in hand, the lady deposited a note on the ground beside the memorial of the one she previously knew as her Mitsue. With a silent tear and a smile, the ex-miko bowed twice and clapped twice in a quiet prayer to the Kami.

  "We'll meet again, Shibuya. . ."

I'd say a fox due to the shrine having a lot of folklore involving spiritual foxes n' stuff, plus she often rescued foxes for the purpose of givin em spiritual purposes.  Seems most fitting for her cause of all that heh

Hans grimaced over the news, Shibuya was the woman who taught him everything that a book couldn't when it came to his profession of alchemy - and she was the one who comforted him at times after his former teacher, his uncle, had passed. It was an odd feeling of grief, she was not a woman of his tribe and to him he was a gaijin, yet she still took him in. Hans sat at his desk as he held the news in hand, memories of her retelling stories of his late family members and how certain recipes were discovered replayed. Death was an odd thing, seems more rare to come naturally now in days then it to be taken abruptly. Eventually after a moment he suddenly stood, shoving his chair back and put on his coat - He had no time to mourn, he was always far to busy too. He had items to collect and more work to do.
