No, it's mainly to give people access to 1.8 biomes, as well as create some neat lore and easter eggs for people to enjoy.

It's like BC on WoW, people will venture out from the old world, guilds set up camps in the new world etc. Only there isn't a burning hell world.

where will this new Verge be? Looking at the current map there is wilderness EVERYWHERE, it's so massive and there are forts and towns just completely covering the map. Where will it be?
