The Right of Challenge

image.thumb.png.c3dd4cf9153dda0b3e7f53fdf878d26f.png

To my Sister, who has taken a title she doth not deserve to feed a spirit bloated,

In lost Aevos, you declared to me once a challenge for a gift I was given and never sought, a name which was mine in soul and still is, "The Red Mage". You made this demand out of ego, out of pride, out of a need to find self assurance when no others would recognize it. You measure one skill and fail to value others. You hold naught but empty air upon thy lips, not even hot enough to burn like the tongue of a dragon. Your pride is all you have, and it is worth less than the parchment I write this upon.

Hear me, Sister, I give you three months to step forward and face my magical might in all of its forms as I put mine against yours as you once tried to do during my time of absence. The Lords of the Almedraon refused you because of thy absence, and I reclaim what has always been mine by rite of my peers because of your absence as well.

Truth Burns

From thy Brother,

Osar Dovian

"May Fate strike true through you, Brother, Sister," an old Ordained hummed, his feathered wings dusting the ground as he moved to shelve an armful of books. "Truth Burns."

A message is sent in return.

It is funny you say this; The idea to challenge for the title was not my own. How can a title be yours in soul, if you do not even practice the namesake? Once upon a time you were a mage, but forsake that path. You cling to remnants of a self you no longer are. It was behest I sought this title because I am a mage, I actively practice magic, teach the craft, and lecture on its theory. What have you done with your title but hide within your lab? You do not teach, you do not practice, you only hold. Even if you win this, what will you do? Gloat with the same pride you accuse me of? Return to your lab? You do not even engage with the subject.

You pin this matter on pride- From where do you pull? You write endless filler that this all stems from a source which does not exist. I think that it is your own pride that has been wounded, and you hound for any recourse to mend it. Truly I am indifferent if I lose this fight because a title does not define who I am, you whom holds a title as yours in soul.

So I ask. Is this truly a matter of a title? Or is this an attempt to soothe the wounded ego of a man.

Nevertheless, I await you in Tor'Urldar for this duel.

A challenge has been issued, and a challenge has accepted. Osar pines after the title of Red Mage, and while he lacks the magic to qualify as mage, I shall field this request.
