Hi guys evil Moderator Seva here. Let it be known that if I banned you it was 100% deserved (except for all those guys who weren't). Anyways I wanted to do an AMA cause I haven't done one before and was thinking now was a good time to do one. Note, I will not reply to moderator stuff here (aside from maybe my own personal roleplay philosophies and etc.) but you're always free to DM me to ask questions about stuff like that. If you go to my spam folder then I am sorry but you probably open with "hi" and discord thinks you want me to click phishing links. ANYWAY! Glad to talk about basically whatever, if you'd like to just know more about me generally and the way I interact with the server then here's the place :]

In case you forgot who I am, I joined right before Oren fell in 2021, was around in Acre and Barrowton, played the founding Queen of Idunia, Orelia, along with SimplySeo and his character Uther. Currently I play Phoebe de Senna and Seojin Mirithiel Sidhrion, from the Empire/Beleth and Idunia respectively. I'm not really someone who plays a lot of different characters, but if you knew Orelia then you know a lot about me :]

NOTE: all replies from werewolf will be hidden because he scares me

War is a difficult one, I'd probably say the Harvest Rebellion. There was, as always, a lot of OOC nonsense going on with that war, but the memories I made standing up to Oren as a white tag in a modest Barony was really special to me. In a lot of ways I definitely crave that village vibe, and I wish things didn't get back to Kingdom scale again.

Personal character, I think is more nuanced. Orelia had the greatest journey so far, Seojin has had the most combat success, and Phoebe feels like she's on the cusp of something really special. All three of them have really interesting aspects to them and I'm not sure if I could pick a favorite. If we're talking about favorites for other people, I always really liked Seo's Uther. His arc, going from Hedge Knight to King, in my opinion, is more legendary than even his Dwarf who killed Gazardiael.

Historical figures are really difficult, I honestly haven't been around very much or in the communities which focus a lot on history. Idunia is mostly centered on ancient Adunians, and all of the popes and emperors of the Midlands kind of blend together in my head. If I had to choose, I think I'm most interested in Gazardiael themself. The aspects of that Aengul, their motives, and the things that they did during the end of map seemed so interesting, and it makes me wish partially that we had more interactions with Aenguls than what we get currently. Idk why but I find them way more interesting than Orsathiael, and want to see that sort of thing explored again.

What is your favorite VintageStory mechanic you would want to see actually implemented onto LotC?

It's gonna sound really lame but the most narratively compelling moment for me was the moment we had a town meeting in Acre and decided to rebel against Oren. Honestly looking back on it I think there was likely some OOC stuff planned out for it, but all I really knew was that we were called in for a town hall meeting and they told us that the King of Oren had asked for our leader's head on a spike. That roleplay in that room felt SUPER organic, with the different RP andy noobs (including me) all coming together to say we wouldn't let him be killed. It really felt, to me at least, that our choice in that moment mattered. That we as a little roleplay group could make a difference. Like I said, I know now that there was a lot of weight and backing behind all of that, but in the moment it felt.. Pure.

Favorite niche of RP is village and village management. Being a blacksmith, local healing woman, even small barony RP as a noble, there's nothing more fun in my opinion. Standing as villagers against the cruel world, finding whimsy and love, its just uniquely fulfilling to me. Something you just can't get in a Kingdom, in my opinion.

My long term wish would be to return to that for sure. My current character's main desire is to have a village and keep it that way. I think a lot of RP rulers think about infinite growth, pushing to become a King or to leave a lasting legacy. I'd prefer to keep that small town feel, build a barony that stands on its own.

Ooo that's really tough. If I had to choose something, it would be the progression of smithing. Mining isn't really what I'm talking about, but I'd love if there were more multiblock structures required to do certain things. I would love for ST to approve of large scale steel refineries, charcoal burning areas, that sort of thing. Something about it would be cool. Maybe a tech thing? Like you can build a multiblock and once a day "refine" iron into netherite or something? Not sure!

I think my favorite thought I've had has been when I sat down and realized I could properly finish out this degree I'm working on and it would be easy. I had some pretty tough classes this year, but realized that all of the hardest ones were behind me towards the end. A breath of fresh air, and a nice easing tension overall, that I've sort of overcame all of the hardest schooling I've had to do.

Are there any books, movies, or media you draw particular inspiration from for the craft?

Good question! There are certainly a few that come to mind. Obviously Lord of the Rings as well as Game of Thrones are big inspirations. But I also like a lot of interesting novels that are more modern and less medieval or fantasy focused. Consider Rappaccini's Daughter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. There's a lot of interesting looks at class struggles in there, along with some fun Gothic elements which pull nicely. Things like that. Recently I've been enjoying portrayals of Renaissance and Reformation era Europe, with a lot of looks into Reformation Germany. Most of that is more history books though, stuff like the Book of the Courtier, written by Baldassare Castiglione. Lots of fun examples!
