BY THE GLORY OF GOD

AND THE LAWS OF ARCHDUKE JOSEPH I AND ARCHDUCHESS MAGDALENA I

As written under the Catherinian Code, it is my right and my privilege to announce once again the coming of an election for the Garmont Assembly. Two citizens of the Commonwealth shall come forth as volunteers, to win the favor of our people, so that they may join this esteemed body. Then it shall be their responsibility in joining our landed peers, the Lord-Mayor, and the Portmeistre of the District of Chambery in meeting regularly for matters of writing official laws or amendments, in summoning members of the Council or other executive officers of the government for audit, and more, to be sent forth to our Archducal lieges.

These two Representatives are not bound by noble birth, excessive riches, nor appointment by any office. They are two souls chosen directly by the people, by popular vote, to sit and work within the Garmont Assembly for eight years at a time. Now, on the 12th of Sun’s Smile, 211 A.R.P., I hereby turn this cycle forth once more.

Guidelines of the Representatives

As of this time, there are two elected seats, titled the First and Second People’s Seat. Those who wish to run for either seat must fit within a certain criteria by law for their candidacy to be considered valid:

1. Must be 16 years of age or older.

1.a. Candidates of Horen's descent may not exceed the age of 80, in following the "Garmont Efficiency" amendment to Petran law.

2. Must be in good standing within the laws of the Commonwealth, the High Kingdom of Idunia, and the Emperor of Man.

3. Must be citizens of and reside within the Commonwealth of the Petra specifically.

4. Must possess thorough knowledge of the Catherinian Code.

5. May not already hold a seat upon the Garmont Assembly

Voted Representatives will be expected to attend each session of the Garmont Assembly, held at current every other Saint’s Week, or provide a valid stand-in Representative as dictated by the Catherinian Code. Failure to attend may result in one’s impeachment before the end of their term.

Debates of the Candidates & Campaigning

Per the Catherinian Code, the election may not move forward without a public debate of all valid candidates. This shall be ran by the Office of the Grand Speaker or a delegated official, to be held and had a public transcript posted in the capital no less than 24 Saint’s Hours before the opening of the polls.

All candidates unable to attend a scheduled debate due to emergency or otherwise will be allowed to submit answers in writing to the Grand Speaker for publication alongside the official transcript of the debate.

Official questions of the debate will be provided to all candidates ahead of the event so that proper speeches may be prepared. However, at the time of the public event, members of the public will be allowed to pose their own free-form questions for answering, which will NOT be submitted ahead of time. Candidates absent from the official debate may not have answers to such questions published in the official transcript by the Grand Speaker.

Candidates may otherwise campaign on their own behalf outside the scope of this official debate, including, but not limited to: private debates, public speeches, or manufactured audiences. No such campaigning must break the law of the Commonwealth, Idunia, nor the Empire of Man (such as acts of threatening, assault, thievery, corruption, etc.). No candidate may claim sponsorship from the Office of the Grand Speaker, which will always remain impartial in this matter.

Voting

Public polls shall open so that citizens of the Commonwealth may vote for their preferred candidates no sooner than 24 Saint’s Hours after the official debate nor any later than one Saint’s Week after this announcement. Per law, the polls shall be open for a minimum of 24 Saint’s Hours, though the official length of which shall be announced upon the opening of the polls.

Voting shall be done privately through delivered ballots. Eligible voters will be able to rank candidates by preference for a more democratic and representative outcome.

A sickly heir to a displaced family line, with rather impeccable timing, scribbled his name onto the registration below.
