What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and

why?

1. The Biography - They should always know what their character has done and will do before they start playing, if they didnt they could RP as a super human or something.

2. The grammar they use - It would be hard to understand someone with 1337 speak..

3. Understanding the Lore - Can't have someone RPing as Master Chief now!

4. Skills in Role Playing - They must know their Lore and Biography to achieve this.

5. Maturity- If they arent mature their thread will be full of complaining and begging which would not help our fair server.

If you are accepted, will you pm us? or say that we are accepted r not accepted on the thread?

I'd assume we'd get custom made applications to see if we would accept it or not and why we would chose to do so.

...That's my guess though, I have no idea.

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1)A well done biography - shows that the person can be creative and has some knowledge of how to role-play.

2)Grammar - Without it, it can be hard to understand. ((Bad grammar -cough- Orcs -cough= is for in the game))

3)Understanding - With lore and rules, the application must show that person has read bother to know how the past has been, what meta and power-gaming is, Knowledge of what the server is about.

4)Maturity - Age doesn't matter, I have met 10year olds with more maturity than a 18year old. By this I mean having Patients, Doesn't Beg, Doesn't wine.. etc

5)Skills in Role-play - If your are good at writing stories, and keeping characters in there character and that character only knows what he/she has seen. A good writer does those things and if you can that than role-playing a character should be much easier.

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1. Merit, Even if they aren't perfect showing a good merit would show how they would proberbly act in the server and hopefully reflect how they RP, even if they are not to original but it is obvious they have spent alot of other time on stuff other than just a certain part, this in my oppinion would be a good app

2. Individual, and not based of the "my parents where killed by orcs" phrase and not using parts from other peoples, maybe getting idea's of them would show that they are serious but a strait copy and paste would show that they obviously are not serious about trying to join

3. That they followed the guides and the read firsts, if they actually spend time to read the formats they should be better than those who haven't

4. Their experiance with role playing and their description of it, if they are going to say something completely un related to role play, why should they join a role playing server

5. Understanding the law/lore , everyone puts down that they have read the law's and lore, so why should you accept someone who's bio is based upon them growing up from the american military as a secret weapon

i would proberbly also look for their maturity in their app , as someone who is rude would not be a good addition to the server

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

#1: The Biography: It must be appropriate to the Lore, it does not mean it has to be "Born in the Cloud Temple" , but if your character is not born there they must be written based on already established Lore or written well enough that it could be a part of the Lore.

#2: You need to have a basic understanding of roleplay and how one must do so without metagaming or powergaming. You do not have to be the greatest roleplayer but you must be willing to learn and become a better roleplayer for both yourself and for the good of the server as a whole.

#3: You need to answer the questions fully and appropriately. They do not need to be "walls of text" but no one word answers. They should answer the question fully to the best of your ability.

#4: Your answers should be appropriate to the content of the server for audiences of a PG-13 crowd, and in the proper format of the application.

#5: You should post your apps in the appropriate time period. Repost only after three days of being not accepted or in my case wait until your app is past page 15. You also should not PM the app team constantly about looking at your app nor should you write anything inappropriate in response to a denial on your app.

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?:

I. Good Grammar! That is what defines my first impression of someone when I first talk to them. Good grammar is, to me, a sign of intelligence and determination. It shows that the applicant in question has put in considerable effort when writing an application. The odd one or two mistakes are fine, nobody's perfect after all, and there is no such thing is a perfect application (I like to think). :D

II. For characters to be detailed and realistic. I like characters to have flaws and shortcomings, not to be perfect (For example, my character swims like a brick, and hates water). After all, without conflict and problems, nothing exciting would ever happen in Aegis :P. I also like a long, interesting backstory (Yeah, that's right, I LOVE a wall of juicy RP text). I want their biography to make me want to meet them personally in Aegis.

III. Origininality. I don't want 'Legolas the Elven Archer' in Aegis, nor do I want Gandalf or Dumbledore. I am more than happy for their character to be based on another, already existing character, but I'd like applicants to at least have a different name. 'Lehriwin the Elven Archer' or 'Gaslaf the Grey Wizard' I have no issue with. However, I do like it when someone creates a completely new character, and goes somewhere no RP'er has gone before.

IV. SOME Background information on the server. I love it when a player links their character's backstory to an old RP event or place. It shows they have fully appreciated and read about the server. I don't mind if they contradict a small bit of background lore. E.g 'Rufhos was born in the Orc town of Kal'Rog.' I also like references to the server rules, and appreciation of them. Or even to give a good reason if they don't like them.

V. Just plain ol' friendliness! Simply saying 'Thank you for reading!' at the end of an application or even 'You're all doing a great job.' really shows the maturity, kindness and thoughtfulness of the applicant.

Sorry for the wall of text, but I'm really passionate when it comes to letting other people experience the magic of Aegis.

I would love to be the guy who allows someone to enter Aegis, and begin their journey :D

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

Listed from the Greatest to Least importance.

1: Biography

Having a good biography is the essential task of joining the server. Looking for signs of powergaming, metagaming, or Out-Of-Aegis Lore. This will prove to us if they have read and understand what Role Playing is. Also, seeing if they have a creative mind is what the server wants, indefinitely! Seeing people being killed by orcs, or parents dying is sort of a habit of people applying to the server. If they have taken the Wandering Soul experience to full extent, they will find out that Orcs are not as they are in stories. Knowing their land in Aegis is appealing to many people reading these. I have seen applications accepted in joy, due to knowledge of cities, races, names, and more!

2: What does Role Playing mean?

Many a times, people assume roleplaying is fighting, doing quests, or playing MMORPGs in general. When I see this, I believe they must expand on their knowledge of Role Play. Simply playing RPGs does not make you a great roleplayer.

3: Sub-Questions (Eg. Can you wield a sword)

Uncommonly checked, it is also a subject of great importance. Often times, I see conflicting questions. In their Biography, they could have said, "He can't wield a sword for his life", and have the Sword question filled as a 'Yes'. Sometimes, I would even read them saying that they have read the rules, to find out their character was metagaming in their Biography.

4: Personality

Although not as important, it is also to be looked at. It must fit both their lore, and not break any rules. Sometimes, I see one saying that they would kill anyone on sight, a great breach of the server rules.

5: Grammar

With good grammar, comes maturity. Often I see repetitive usage of the same words in a sentence. When I see an application, I believe using better grammar shows how mature they are, and how they will fit inside the server. Though, bad grammar can still be made up with good roleplay, I still believe in a clean script.

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

The top 5 most important thing's in an application i think are :-

Depth.

Explain your biography in depth and explain your answer completely without hesitation. Also the smallest detail helps increase the roleplay of your character.

Grammar.

In application's grammar is a very big aspect, it show's how you present yourself to the person who is accepting you and the better your grammar is it shows that you are interested in being part of this community not just doing your application in a rush.

Use of lore.

Lore is basically what makes up the server and if that isn't involved your completely missing out. Lore should be gradually added in to your application here and there do some references with your character's biography linking with the lore.

Rules.

Understanding the rules is the biggest thing in the server in my view, your application will represent how much you know of the server and how much you have red e.g Lore, law etc. If you have red them thoroughly and understood them completely your application will show it. Also if you have red the rules and not understood a specific rule or would want more information on it, it is completely fine if you add it at the bottom of your post so the reader of the application can reply and sort out the hesitation.

Race

The race that you put on your character defines your roleplay and will be a very big aspect in your roleplay. Example, if you put in your bio that you love forests and tree's and are a noble gentleman (or woman) who is a very giving person, Now if anyone was reading this they would know it's an Elf, but if the person applying puts in race as Orc with that bio it wouldn't play out at all with the lore so that is one of the aspects that i would be looking at.

Thankyou for reading my application to be on the application team hopefully i get accepted.

- Ali

What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why?

1. Biography. One of the best indicators of one's ability to roleplay and communicate effectively. It shows their writing skills, their grammatical skills and the amount of effort they're willing to put into their character. It also tends to show up power gamers. A well written biography is a pleasure to read too!

2. What their definition of roleplay is. Again the effort they put into this question shows a lot, and the answer can reveal much about how they treat roleplay, how they roleplay and how serious they are about it.

3. The skin screenshot. If it's done incorrectly it shows carelessness or even that the applicant didn't read all the requirements. It needs to be appropriate too obviously!

4. Overall structure and grammar. A vital part of RP on this server as all speech is text written. Overly poor grammar or spelling would cause painful RP on the server. And it's important to consider how this person would integrate into the server.

5. Inclusion of lore in application. While perhaps not as vital as the other points it does show that the applicant has done their reading and has put more effort into their application. It's good to have at least a basic understanding of the lore before first stepping into Aegis!

Thanks for reading!

I would still like to remain on the application team:

I look for:

1. A good explanation of role play, and I look for a trend throughout from their answers that the applicant would add to the sever in terms of their actions and character development.

2. A Character Biography that is well thought and and well written, if effort has been put into creating it, and often if they bring something unique or interesting to the server. For example character with flaws, who aren't the worlds greatest swordsman/bowman/miner/builder/lover etc. It's all very well writing a good biography, but we don't need 400 Legolas clones...

3. Their grammar and use of the language. I also often couple this with their answer length. If they can be bothered to write more than a few words to an answer, I fear they may be like that in game. It is not the speed it takes, but the value of what is being said. Sometimes a short answer will do, but a longer one adds more interest.

4. Do they come across as friendly, well mannered and eager to be a part of a great community, or do they just want to join the ever swelling ranks of griefers and trolls.

5. The way they have formatted their application, have they checked it, have they even read what they've written? Having been on the application team and reviewed many posts, there is nothing worse than a badly written, badly formatted application. If they can't take the time and effort to get that right, I worry about what they will actually bring to LotC.
