Update:

I have given the application to becoming a GM a face lift. To those whom have already placed applications, you are not required to re-fill one out with the new guidelines. So you need not worry they will still be looked at regardless. Thank you!

Update: 1/1/11

With the up and coming release date drawing ever so near, I have come to the conclusion of a GM Purge. This purge is to clean up and demote some GM's whom have either left for real life issues, and just simply to not have the time to commit to there duties. That being said I will be looking at Applications once more!

With our visit to MineCon this year we expect another rush of high application flow and members. In order to control this we are cleaning up some of our old inactive GM's and promoting some potential new blood within our ranks.

In order to do this, there are many things that I myself look for in a GM. Do you feel that you have what it takes to become a GM? Read some of the things that I look for when i'm choosing a GM and see if you feel that you can fit into the category.

- Do you have the time to dedicate?

- Are you active on the forums?

- Do you have a high tolerance and patience level?

- Are you confident enough to make non biased decisions?

These are just the surface areas when I'am looking for a GM.

So if you feel that you can be an asset to the LOTC community as a active GM to help us with the betterment of the server, why not put an application in? Remember we wont reply to them directly. We never give a strict yes or no. These are the way we handle things. Other GM's may give a +1 here and there to help out but that's about it.

Also I will copy and paste this forum post that I made under to GM application section for you all to read. It goes into better detail on the aspirations on becoming a GM.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a little post I'am making just to clear a few gray areas.

So YOU want to become a GM?

Becoming a GM is more than just what some of you think it may be. You must understand that a GM is the backbone of the server. We are here to keep order, best we can. Without us, there is anarchy, and chaos. We try our best to keep balance and equality.

Thing I look for when choosing a GM:

While making a GM application is sometimes considered the first step. It really isn't. When you think about applying to become a GM, stop and think to yourself first. Have you done anything in the past to help the players in the server? Such as answering questions in OOC, lending a hand to a fellow newbie that might be struggling. Offering some advice to two people arguing and offering your own non biased opinion? These are things that I myself look for in players that I feel deserve the right to become a GM. Take these simple foot notes and apply it to your everyday role playing experience here on Lord of the Craft. Not only will it make the server better as a whole for everyone, but will also help us in choosing you as a GM, should you inspire to become one.

Thank you for reading my little post. I hope this helps those out there that wish one day they can help the server a little bit more than they feel they already do.

Well the thing is that the only way that anyone would ever get accepted as a Gm would

Be if he got enough +1's I understan this method but the problem is that, maybe you dont know alot of people because you only rp with friends and that way you wont get a +1 , but does this mean that you wouldn't be a good GM?

This is not true at all. Ive have had multiple applications that have had 5 pages of +1's that never became GM.

When a person applies with a good application to me. I watch them. See how they work on the server, on the forums, in ooc. In general. These are just the little things I do. So regardless if you got the whole server to +1 you. If I don't deem you fit to because GM, you will not be one.

I already have my eyes on potential people. Unfortunatly... I CANT MESSAGE THEM. My forum is bugged and doesn't allow me to message people atm. I will try to fix this. D:

If it's new applicants you're worried about then wouldn't be easier to make the application team bigger?

The current applications team is failing us. They have become lazy and or not doing what has been asked of them. We are attempting to correct the issues. As we would like more new people joining us in LOTC.

Sorry I didn't meant it thatway what I meant was that it is hard to become a GM without tons of +1's xD but I might be wrong ofcourse

You are certainly correct. This is why its a choice made of people whom would like to commit to it. Its hard to juggle both RP and GM issues. Thats why we all respect Native so much :D

I respect the GM's and FM's of this server alot, I mean the amount of work that is done bye them is amazing. I myself hope that one day I can be a GM or FM but untill then keep up tha good work GM's (and Fm's ofcourse)

Oh man, Im far from ready to become a GM. I really need to start getting to know people and getting much more active with the community then I currently am before I can even think about undergoing such a task. Albeit knowing people and becoming "down tight" with them doesnt technically help you become a GM, it does help you get involved with other people, and in turn, the community. A chain reaction of sorts.

(that, and Id look rather rushed to get to a point of power by applying when Ive been here for less then a month. That might not be the case, but thats how I feel about the matter.)
