  1. 1. Do YOU want me, Bircalin, a Human, as the High Prince?

I understand that, I did wonder wether it would make me Prince or not. I'd had many say yes, and many say no. As for one High Prince(ss) at a time. I'm afraid that's not entirely true, as there was once High Prince Native and High Princess Soriuss.

As for where my loyalties lie, indeed. I am loyal elsewhere, but my loyalty isn't divided. Should I be called upon as High Prince, my loyalty to Malinor and it's people will be unmatched. This, I am sure of.

Thank you for your kind words and opinion, I take them gratefully.

I disagree strongly with those who oppose this. We do not discriminate against others at all. As he is married to the High Princess, he has the right to be High Prince. Throughout the years, I have known my dear friend Bircalin, for being wise, and kind hearted. He will not fail any one of you.

Now you're comparing elegant elves to hardy dwarves? You should offend the orcs while you're at it.

((in ooc I honestly think it would be interesting it may even cease this feud with the elves haha but then the orcs would be screwed XD))

(What do you mean we would be skrewed, the elves were only at the initial attack on Kal'Urgaun and maybe at Galahar. We were only orcs at the defence of sanjezal yesterday which was practically a victory for the orcs since the dwarves failed to take over Sanjezal and we killed the one leading them Arteh so watch what you post bro.)

((I am going to say that High Princess Soriuss was allowed to be high princess because she was an elf, and loved by the people. I am not sure if that is what was supposed to happen.))

*calls to Lafthi* What does the constitution say?

i approve them being married and high prince and princess. this would greatly increase our relations with the humans, and they have an orc child so our relations with the orcs should be great too.

i think anyone who doesnt approve is jealous....just saying.

also who would you choose as a high prince then? i see no othe option for it, maybe ebs but he is just a prince and might not be up for the job yet (no offense ebs)

I would like Bircalin to be known. But I would first say he should get to know us elven people. He was once in the druids with me and a very respectful one at that. So he knows how we feel of our nature. And the leading may come into affect later. But I would like to see him noticed more before people cast off decisions without knowing the man first. So just calm down everyone and lets just watch his actions. I for one can vouge for him.

I don't mind having a Human high prince, but I do no think that he should get the possition just because he is married to the high princes. He must first proove himself worthy before I shall Acknowledge as High prince.

Whoever above stated that marriage in the Elven Lands of Malinor does not equate to power would be correct. Hypothetically if someone married a Prince/Princess in the Elven government it would not equate to power within the government. However again Bircalin is correct to a point. High Prince Native's wife, Soriuss was indeed a princess, but she held absolutely no power within the government. Her title of princess was an honorary one. Therefore if we go off precedence Bircalin could indeed call himself the High Prince if he wished but he would hold no power within the government of Malinor.

OOC:

For all of those who didn't follow up there, Bircalin would pretty much take on the role of the Queen of England. He would hold no power in government but have an honorary title. More of a morale booster if you will.

*walks over to Bircilins house and slips a note of response under his door*

The elves are a noble race and we pride ourselves on being open and kind, as native showed us through his many years of leadership. As a citizen of Laurelin for over 400 years and an elf dedicated to her I feel I must speak my opinion.

I have known Bircilin since I gave shelter to him and Aedan when they first arrived in the city. He is a good man and a shining example of the good side of humanity. However he is a human and I believe none but elves should lead Malinor. Not, mind you, because other races are not fit to lead us, but because a race led by one of another race is not logical. There has never been a non-dwarf dwarven king, nor an orc, elf or dwarf king of Oren. I would say the same about the orcs but they are lead by the strongest and if there was one of another race strong enough and crazy enough to beat they’re way to the top I’m fairly sure they would not object.

Perhaps instead the mate of her highness could be selected to represent the other races that live as part of our beautiful nation in the Council. This, in my opinion, would be the best course of action.

Bircalin is worthy as High Prince, but I hope that the Elves stay Allies with the, Orcs.

Our people are not governed by a royal family nor by a monarchy. Malinor is a Princedom and hence governed, not ruled by a High Prince. The title is in my opinion rather inappropriate. But I do not fret because simply marrying one of the council does not infer a vote within the council. If something were to happen to High Princess Indelwehn, her husband at the time would not ascend her position, nor would she have any offspring that could do the same. It would simply be another Prince to take her place after a council vote.

A human could never rule Malinor. It is unfortunate, but it is physically impossible. By the time a human could learn our intricate culture and ways (which takes about a century), they would simple grow old and pass away. In the past the term of High Prince was one elvish year. I have yet to meet a human that could survive such a term in one of their short lifetimes. And this would be assuming they attain the position on the day of their birth.

One moment we'll be celebrating a human's ceremonial marriage to the High Prince.. and the next moment their funeral as they wither and atrophy as we turn around. It is a sad thing, truely, but a very true consideration to be had. Humans simply cannot live long enough to server in any position of elven leadership. I think it is a shame however because they are truely capable of such great things in their short time upon Aegis. But amongst elves such talent is quite wasted. We are slow to react, and do not adapt as easily to new ideas as humans are. It is quite simple best to see them among their own kind. I do not say this out of malice or disdain, on the contrary, I believe it is we that would slow them down.
