Sporadic 2844 Share Posted January 29, 2012 A wooden sign was hung up on the Haelun'or noticeboard, lengthy and with delicate inscription. The black letters were burned into the polished wood carefully, as if by a simmering needle. Most noble and exalted Mali'aheral of Haelun'or, Please use this opportunity to announce to me, Ellir'siol, if you have been personally harassed by the Native Dark Elves. It has come to my attention the Mori fiercely deny that we are the rightful inhabitants of our most blessed Mali'aheral heritage in Asulon. They appear to think it a landgrab, instead of the rightful recolonization of what was once the affluent society of our kin. As such, reports of savagery from these Mori is growing common. Please allow me to analyze quantitatively the situation, so I can inform the council a realistic image that will ensure your continued safety and prosperity. You can contact me both directly and indirectly through our blessed college. Only Mali'aheral need respond.

Bircalin 332 Share Posted January 29, 2012 (( I'm impressed by this, genuinely. The High Elves actually roleplay themselves as all Elves should. It's nice to see such calm mannered Elves instead of warmongering '18 year old orphans destined for glory'. Keep up the good work and kudos to you all. ))
Guest Sawses Share Posted January 29, 2012 There is a small, unsigned note tacked on the bottom of the sign. The handwriting is neat, though a bit blocky, as though the person rarely writes. It reads, The Mori are not all evil. One of them tended my wounds when I was hurt. A few others are nice.

Yuln 265 Share Posted January 29, 2012 *a little plate of gold is nailed onder the message, it reads: I agree with you, these attacks of the mori need to stop, but I hope we dont use military force to get them to stop. Please, talk to them, we need to convince them that we have the right of building on these lands, because if we attack them, they'll see that as a excuse to lay siege on Healun'or and will the attacks get much worse. This is my message, I hope you listen and not declare war on the mori. -Aurea

That was exactly the message we wished to relay, and while we had some snags to deal with (ban report and HE being a bit too militant in the beginning) we truly aim for the finest possible roleplay coming from our camp. ))
Sporadic 2844 Author Share Posted January 29, 2012 Nods to Keya understandably. Oh, right, the Mori. I'd almost forgotten about that. Your experience will be duly noted, sister. I do think I only heard the bad side so far.. hmm.. Ellir then randomly walks off and begins to draft a letter to Aurea. 'There is no talk of war yet, sister. But you will understand that the High Elves must always walk the proper course to ensure our continued affluence. Should war be considered, I will trust you to object against with arguments born of wisdom.'
Twilight Druid 188 Share Posted January 29, 2012 as communication with them is quite hard with the language barrier, should we start documenting what we do know about their language?
Esterlen 4499 Share Posted January 29, 2012 I do indeed hope the Legion is not necessary - but the natives are a violent and bloody people. It is not likely they will resolve things diplomatically.
Dio Astóre 69 Share Posted January 29, 2012 Whilst many reports have reached mine ears of hostilities through out the lands - some of which indeed find their roots with the culture of the native peoples - I will not let this influence my disposition toward them for the worse, as in my personal experience in wishing to visit their city to represent the desire of the Mali'aheral to reclaim their heritage through the use of symbolism, I was granted both passage and an audience with the ruling body of the Mori along with a safe escort out of the city, whose paths upon which one might easily lose their bearing. In light of this I would request the same courtesy to be extended to them should an envoy request an audience, however improbable this may be. What our diplomatic mission had achieved I honestly say I am still in doubt over, though I and mine companion were permitted to leave with our lives, despite our numerous situational disadvantages, any one of which may have been exploited to bring about our doom. Lastly I would like to take this opportunity to inform one and all of a particularly curious fragment of their religion that I obtained from an exiled member from the Mori community: that arachnids they hold in the utmost reverence, the unfortunate banishment itself having been earned via the slaying of one. Though this may seem peculiar to me, should you find yourself in the company of the Mori, I also ask of you all that we pay the respect we would expect given to us in our beliefs, lest we rouse deep hatreds. Jibuis Winterborn (Vinnie) 72 Share Posted January 29, 2012 The mori are annoyed, they are the natives, they want their world.. But however the language barrier.. it makes it extremely hard, but they might have our language documented.
Yuln 265 Share Posted January 30, 2012 *Another piece of gold is nailed on the board Indeed we need to get rid of there language bariers, and if they dont learn our language, we need to learn theirs. Something I noticed: their language is alot like ancient elvish, both in grammar and words, correct me if Im mistaking. So, we may need to learn their language, so we can talk to them about this. -Aurea
Elindor 666 Share Posted January 30, 2012 *A torn page from a journal is nailed over the previous messages. As well as the scribbled words are pictures of anthropomorphous spiders* You are not entirely mistaken. They were once High Elves and would have spoken the ancient tongue, but their 'relations' with the monsters of the Verge altered every aspect of their being. They too are latecomers to Haelun'or and were the issue entirely bound to 'rightful ownership', there would be no disagreement. The Mori are plagued a curse dealt from their own hand, one which they seem to hold against all who they encounter. They are intruders into the ancient towers, however communicating this to them without the loss of limbs may be impossible.
problematic z 477 Share Posted January 30, 2012 *A smaller paper is nailed to the very bottom with a dagger* "The Mori, They cut my arms off, I have been in the caves they live in, all they did was torture me and speak giberish, I meant no harm, they are nothing but savages"
