firespirit44 1323 Share Posted February 26, 2012 I was traveling around the Rienna, admiring the seasides when I got word from a Servilex(guard), summoning me to court. I sigh deeply, going to court is never a good thing. Always involves lawbreakers and defining the law. I follow the smartly dressed Servilex into the Parliament, but also known as the Court room. The oak floors creak upon my entry, and the air smelt clean, free from any emotions, like this Hall was never used but kept in good conditions. Several cases were done outside court, but those were just some minor arguments. This was the first time in the history of the City State of Rienna, that the court will be used. Governor Sting and Prime Minister Bartholomeus pulled me over, and quickly briefed me in the fact. 2 people were accused and charged for destroying the foundations of the city, in the process known as strip mining. They were charged with damage to the environment, infrastructure, misuse of permit and stealing the city's ores. I cant help but wonder the severity of their crimes, if Sting and Bart wanst to charge them with something that sounds worse than murder. They presented to me the evidence they seized. 5 iron ores and 2 lapis lazuli blocks. Not alot, but still.... "Gentleman, I will solve this according to the law. Call the Servilex and bring the accused in. Open the doors of the courtroom. Court will begin shortly" I reassure the two officials, and head towards my podium with my law book and my tight black suit. I gaze across the podium, noticing a small stream of people entering the court room with different looks on their face. The two accused. Both elves. Nervous, and showing slight hints of fear. My heart just breaks at the sight of them being here, instead of outside, enjoying the sunshine and ocean view Rienna affords all its citizens.. But the law is the law, and it must be upheld. Afterall, I wrote it. I glance through the documents and paper prepared before me, and go through the rudimentary procedures. The Accused Names: Tharon, Dallus Race: High Elves Age: 115, 26 Relations: Brothers, but both having different mothers. Accused for strip mining. The Accuser Name: Governer Sting, Prime Minister Bartholomeus Race: Dark elf, human Age: 463, 32 Relations: Both are founders in the City state of Rienna, friends as well. The charges The Accused are being charged by the Accuser for Landscarring Stealing from the City,Endangering officials in the building above the stripmine I nod grimly and record each of the information taken. Spanning 3 hours(30 mins IRL), this was what happened in court, with of course a bit of shouting, interruptions, and me swinging my wooden mallet on my podium, calling for order. In chronological order. Prime Minister Bartholomeus caught them in action, stripmining below the building.Accused Tharon claims a citizen known as Zahir could not have gotten his ores without mining, he has been seen mining as well in the crime scene.Governor Sting has known Zahir to have done the sameBartholomeus also claims that Zahir's friends has been mining as wellTharon suddenly calls out to Sting "You said I could join the Golden pickaxe!"Sting: "Yes, but there has been no instructions. Zahir took charge of the golden pickaxe himself, started selling goods and mining all over the City."It was found out that both the accused followed Zahir's example of 'mining'Tharon was not aware of breaking the lawBartholomeus says there is rules and notices in the front of the mineSting says it was taken down. I allow Bartholomeus to leave the court room in order to confirm this. The sign supposedly says "Only Personals allowed" Tharon was under the impression he was a personal, and was in the golden pickaxe guildSting confirms thisBartholomeus says the sign was altered I call upon a standing Servilex to frisk them, and check if anymore ores are somehow hidden in their sacks, or any other tool used. It came up negative. I call for a break, and ponder the law book. After discussing with Governer Sting and Prime Minister Bartholomes, I decide the fate of the accused. "Accused Dallus and Tharon. You are both charged with landscarring, and endangering innocent lives. But as you acted under the influence of Zahir, and was unaware of the mining rules due to a altered sign, the Court allows you leniency, and therefore the charges for possible involuntary manslaughter is dropped. My verdict, you pay a fine of 100 minas each to Governer Sting." Court is adjourned. I knock the podium with my small wooden judge hammer, the sound bouncing of the wooden boards of the ceilings and walls. The people rise up, and slowly file out of the room. The accused looks slightly shaken, but generally relieved. Sting and Bart is happy that the law was enforced, and I'm down with a headache. I need to charge Zahir for all the above, and more. JackABeano 58 Share Posted February 26, 2012 Servilex_Legatus_Tiberius was tasked with watching the entry into the court hearing, and watching the Flow of traffic through the court room. Inbetween the odd person walking in and out of the small gates, Tiberius turned to look at the hearing, and began to watch the session take place. Through the little window, Tiberius watches the court case and the behaviour of the jury watching. At this moment The witness was giving his evidence to the judge, while the court session was just heating up, and all the real evidence was beginning to occur.
