An Invention?!

The orcs use an Oloog (Ballista) that is pretty much a giant crossbow, goblin-made. I've seen smaller ones in use as well. There's really no need for extensive lore on a hand-held crossbow, although it's always welcome.

I never saw one of those in Strigzgoi. Do they only bring them out for sieges?

We keep it hidden in a secret 2x2 chamber on the farm. Seriously though, we used them in the siege on the Blackstep Rebels, then I believe they got dismantled. I've missed out on all of the other sieges, so I'm not sure what sort've siege weapons were used then. I know we've got two catapults staged outside of the Tessadara Hunting Camp. We really need to give siege weapons more permanence though. Anyone that uses siege weapons in war ought to have them staged somewhere, makes it more official and it allows other players a legitimate way of hauling them away or sabotaging them. Would be pretty interesting role-play. You and your nit-picking realism. :P

There was ballistae and other forms of siege weaponry in Malinor in Aegis if you looked hard enough. We have cannons. I'm sure Crossbows are pretty benign in comparison.

I expect Minecraft to have firearms in the future, we'll be seeing muskets and the like before too long.

No! Please no guns! It would ruin it!

True... To a certain degree.. Well.. There IS something called texturepacks. They could always get reskinned.

We have an official texture pack that skins guns? ;}

Notch included gunpowder in the game. Gunpowder is not used in TNT if I am correct. What's not to enjoy about old time muskets that require a long reload?

I had an idea for a concealable pistol bow that fits condensed at your wrist, and when it becomes activated, the limbs expands at the cost of tearing open your long sleeved shirt. There is small bolts wrapped around your wrist that you must load manually but because it is such a small device it's faster to load than anything else but is the shortest ranged.

Dash, the whole idea with tnt is to make it explode. It got sand and gunpowder in its recipe.

Maybe we should meet up ic and make this together? If my char is the first to make small crossbows why not then seek a person who's already into it? And then make it even handy-er-ish. :D? (Would make sense :/)

I meant irl TNT does not use gunpowder, there is another chemical. I say this because it makes me wonder why notch used the words gunpowder if there are not guns in the game.

I won't say you are the first to invent it since many players have been using crossbows throught LotC history, but I will say you know how to make it and I don't. But I do not know that you have this knowledge. If you announce to the village I am an investor specializing in ranged weaponry, I will surely be knocking at the door of your beautifal mountain home.

He could have called it blast powder but he used the words gun instead. Like the end credits, there just has to be meaning behind it.

You guys are going to hate me for this but I kinda support the ideas of guns. when I first starting doing fantasy games, wargaming etc. I hated the idea of flintlocks and muskets but at the same time even if everyone wants to keep it traditional. How many power hungry characters arent going to jump at something that can cripple a target. Maybe the flintlock could be an extremly rare and expensive antique which was invented by a dwarf engineer in aegis who was assassinated and the plans were destoryed aswell and only a handful were ever bought before his death and they're too dangerous to dismantle.

So only a small group of approved engineers have them and maybe a pirate captain? (to enforce the I plundered this and also to complete his look?)

Basiclly I like the idea of flintlocks but they should be considered relics which are not to be tampered with due to their complex design and no blueprints.

Edit: Oh and Jena please give Tyret a trenchcoat and bust into a vampires house and whip out the crossbow! Make Van Helson Proud!
