That Is Just Tormenting

Tormented spirits

(You can rp these if you read the terms and set up.)

Current list of Tormented Spirits:

I was making skins recently and I couldn't think of a name for them so I just named it the first thing I thought when I finished it. "Tormentor", I thought of an interesting idea for rp. The dead creatures walking the land are usually mere bones or zombies that are on their way. What if a soul could possess zombies to achieve something so that they can finally die? These souls aren't players' souls but rather souls of people who died before they could say goodbye to their love for instance, or died in battle. These souls cant harm people and pay being little mind unless spoken to.

They merely wander trying to fulfill a harmless goal or re-enact what they once did until they fall apart. These souls dont seek to fulfill in vengeance and again, they dont wish harm on people. Once their goal is complete they fall apart and their soul is released. If they cant fulfill their goal they still fall apart and try again later or give up. They dont have any special abilities, they cant run, and they aren't immortal. Destroying their armor or body releases their souls. They dont usually swim because they dont have the strength to do so.

They can speak common and sometimes a unique language of those who are dead. They can process thought but mental gaps are common. One can be quite wise but very forgetful while another may be really emotional but doesnt know why. Despite the name that was posted, they aren't tormentors, they are the tormented. They are considered tormented souls or spirits until they accomplish their goal. They cant possess anything after they have entered a body because their soul is bound to it until they have accomplished their goal.

Snippits of info for clarification(If needed):

These are physical beings and nonphysical beings. Some are rotting corpses, others could be a spirits in armour. When they fulfill their goal however their body falls apart and they appear as a spirit and let Aeriel take them. A soul could be any perma killed char that died atleast a few years ago ingame or a made up person who died. You cannot play as someones dead char unless they allow it. The characters again, can be nonexistant characters that you thought would be cool to make. It is better to make up characters that died because rp is open to that and you can make interesting rp better that way.The soul is that exact persons soul, however, they have mental gaps and are literally and metaphorically ghost of their former selves. They dont necessarily have the same personality though, this is due to the mental gaps or memory and their extreme focus on their goals.

As stated before, they cannot harm people because Aeriel only allowed them their to come back to fulfill a goal, nothing else. They can't be in combat, they cant run, they cant really swim and all it takes to kill them is literally trying to. This is easy, but they will come back to fulfill the goal regardless. Even though they come back, they wont bother you because they are absolutely focused on their goal. Its literally impossble for them to powergame. If they think you are someone from their past (typically they are wrong) they might speak to you. They do not really interact with the living unless you are directly related or almost directly related to their goal. They will answer questions if you ask them, but they wont tell you anything that is specific, just a general answer. Aeriel does not allow them to affect the living by telling mortals anything that might affect their decisions or actions. Basically, they cant meta because Aeriel will pull them from the world. As far as goals that they can have, it has to be reasonable.

1. They dont know anything that happened after they died so they can't come back to tell your alt who killed it.

2. They are tormented enough by something that they want to comeback so be reasonable as to why they came back.

Good reasons: To say goodbye to a loved one, to re-enact their death, to find out what happened to their child.

Bad reason: To drink in a bar, to teach some ability, to find weapons or treasure.

3. Aeriel does not allow them to meta or powergame basically.

Aeriel wont allow someone to come back for revenge. I wont test those waters until I make sure this is alright to do and even then coming back for revenge would have to cost someone alot. I will set that up later if it is necessary. Right now, I have it set up so that Aeriel doesnt allow them to speak to people unless they are directly related to their goal or almost directly related. They dont tell people things really, they usually would stay away from them. Aeriel does not allow them to say or do something that affects their decision or actions. In other words, they can say the obvious but nothing else. Usually the souls ignore questions anyway. They ask questions but pay little attention to things asked of them.

Aeriel grants them the chance to return after death to complete their goal. Attacking them is all it takes. Spirits dissapate, ghost in armour fall apart, zombies just die. The thing about it is, people really shouldnt want to kill them, there would be no reason to. They can respawn at the temple or wherever Aeriel grants them to, they do not get healed by the monks because they are already dead.

1. Ghost in armour are glowing matter and the openings on their armour show it.

2. Zombies face might be nearly gone or falling off or parts of their body gone. They are pale or green from the rotting flesh.

3. Spirits are pale and hazy looking.

TL;DR Section.

Tormented spirits:

It is a spirit that is allowed to return from the dead to achieve a goal. They comeback at what ever state their mortal body was left in. For instance from the most recently dead to the nearly forgotten, there are zombies, armoured ghosts, or spirits. They dont speak to people much and even when they do, they ask questions. The cannot fight, nor harm anyone, swim well, and they have no special abilities. They cant powergame because of this.

Also, Aeriel doesnt allow them to affect mortals lives, meaning that they cant tell them that will affect thought or action. They can only state the obvious and nothing else. They can aske questions but they dont dont say why they asked. They sat wise words but they often are unrelated to anything that is happening. This is to make it impossible to meta using this kind of char.

What I plan to do:

I, along with a few others, plan to play as a tormented souls that are seeking a goal. Later I plan to write lore for these Tormented souls of Asulon and create events involving them and the players. There will be all sorts of events tied to this.

Plans for later:

I plan to create tormentors, or spirits that were cursed to never die, they have no powers or abilities and all the years of life given unto them has been terrible. They are in a worse position than tormented souls physically and mentally. They rotted and are falling apart, but the curse put on to their king has kept them alive.

Let me know what you think, any questions or criticism. Also, as always, explain why you feel the way that you do about the subject.

I only ask that players wishing to play as one contact me so I can get minor details of what they are going to do.

Its a interesting temp character or used as a supporting role in another person's roleplay.

Sometimes, you dont want it to be all about you. I'm sure it would be fun to bring back dead chars temporarily to tell you something and such.

I want to see Malin, Urguan, and Horen come back and tell us more about their time and their experiences.

Not quite like ghost, typically people think of ghost as an energy rather than a physical being. These are physical beings and nonphysical beings. Some are rotting corpses, others could be a spirits in armour. When they fulfill their goal however their body falls apart and they appear as a spirit and let Aeriel take them.

If anyone wishes to rp as one, I only ask that they tell me:

1. Tell me that you are going to rp it and what is it's name?

2. What does the spirit seek or what is it re-enacting?

3. What does it look like and where will it be?

I am going to make sure this is alright first before we go about seeking goals and such.

Sonds like some good RP. Would they need to have any requirements not completely die such as being enchanted by a mage?

There will be a few rp posts about it soon, there is an event that will cause them to rise to the occasion. pun intended. There was just an even that is related to the overarching event that will happen.

Had an idea a lot like this actually, other than the taking physical forms part (which I like). Called 'em shades.

Quick question though; will they be like, the actual soul running around in a suit of armor, or will they be sort of a copy of the dead guy's personality?

Alright, Im back to answer questions.

To lelands first question. "So anyone who has permakilled their character can be one?"

A soul could be any perma killed char that died atleast a few years ago ingame or a made up person who died. You cannot play as someones dead char unless they allow it. The characters again, can be nonexistant characters that you thought would be cool to make. It is better to make up characters that died because rp is open to that and you can make interesting rp better that way.

To craftedlime, "Quick question though; will they be like, the actual soul running around in a suit of armor, or will they be sort of a copy of the dead guy's personality?"

The soul is that exact persons soul, however, they have mental gaps and are literally and metaphorically ghost of their former selves. They dont necessarily have the same personality though, this is due to the mental gaps or memory and their extreme focus on their goals.

To Lelands second question, What will there be to stop these people from powrgaming?

As stated before, they cannot harm people because Aeriel only allowed them their to come back to fulfill a goal, nothing else. They can't be in combat, they cant run, they cant really swim and all it takes to kill them is literally trying to. This is easy, but they will come back to fulfill the goal regardless. I think you should make it so they can't talk to anyone except their direct family to prevent possible meta gaming.
