Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name:paladin_null

How old are you?:17

Time-Zone/Country of Residence:I'm from Mississippi, in the United States. GMT-6:00

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: I have grown up in a country where the national language is English. I keep a constant A in English class and am in the advance placement courses for English. I will say one thing, it takes me a minute to make sure my grammar is correct so please try to bear with me...

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:I was born and grew up in Atlanta, Georgia until my dad got a job transfer and I moved to where I live now. I love to play video games, and minecraft caught my imagination on the sheer amount of versatility of its game play. I love to roleplay and have done so since I was 13.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:between school and my extra curricular activities, I have my time set out for me, but I could easily be on for between 14- 30 hours a week or more!

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you:Roleplaying is a wounderful thing. It allows people to adopt a new life and explore a world with many other people who have done the same. Roleplaying helps keep a level of creativity to everyday life and is a great form of making one's own entertainment. Roleplaying is like writing a book that you have control over but never know what's going to happen next.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:I have roleplayed on several forums and my friends and I LARP all the time

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: meta-gaming is the act of using out of character context that could easily be used to change how the game plays out. Much like screen peeking in fist person shooters, meta-gaming takes something that you shouldn't otherwise know and uses it to your advantage. Now sometimes meta gaming is hard to avoid but I always do my best to stay in character and keep the information I get from my charater.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is:power gaming is the bane of all role players. Power gaming is when you force a character to do something without giving them a chance to do anything in return. For example: if I push you down and knock you unconscious all in one move, you have no time to react and now what are you going to do? I essentially just ripped out a page from your "choose your own adventure" book so now you only have the one path to take. To make a long story short, (might be too late for that) power gaming takes the roleplaying out of roleplay.

What do you expect this server will be like?:after looking at all the rules, I expect a rich and full roleplaying experience from this server.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:I haven't really. I hope I can prove my worth by showing how I can weave a tapestry of a story for everyone to enjoy.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:yes I have, and I believe the rules to this server are very well stated and will help increase my enjoyment of the game.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules:I do swear I will do anything and everything I can to uphold thse rules you have set in front of me

How did you hear about us?:I searched "what's hot" on the planetminecraft forums in the server section.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?:application #1

application #2

In-Character:

Character Name: good day, my name is Christopher Alsief

What Race are you?: I am a human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): I don't have a sub race

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Well I should probably start with my childhood. I was born in the kingdom of Salvus, in the trading port of Endisia. My father was an armorer in the Alrasian military before he retired and settled into his life as a blacksmith. He enjoyed teaching me of his craft; he believed that the life of a blacksmith was the most honest profession, and I wish to follow in his footsteps. Dad taught me how to craft everything from a spoon to a blade, and how to use the latter. I trained day and night on how to use a blade, and after many nicks and scratches I was able to become somewhat proficient.

Oh but that house we lived in was a dump! but it was my home, and I loved being able to come home every day after helping my father and training in the yard. I was never fully involved in the village though... I remember I always kept to myself as a kid; I did have one friend but they moved to Solace when his dad raised enough money to set up a stall there. We used to play bandit around the docks, but my dad said that if I kept it up I was going to turn into one and then he would have to arrest me. That was his way of kidding around, yet there was always a grain of truth in his voice; like when we were playing around and I "borrowed" his molding hammer to pound on the pigs outside in the forest. When he found out he "put me in jail" for 5 hours while he finished his work at the forge.

I never knew my mom, Father always said she was a wonderful woman and that he loved her very much, but I always wish I could have known her too... I try not to let it bother me... Lets just get off the subject.

Dad said I would make a great blacksmith one day, and that it would bring him great honor to see me follow in his footsteps. Unfortunately, like all humans, none can escape the curse of Iblees. After dad died I decided to try and take over his business; I soon found out how tough it was going to be. Now, at the age of 25, it's my greatest goal to restore my father's forge anywhere I settle, and maybe then I'll be able to honor him again.

OOC: Christopher has brown hair and a scruffy beard. he wears his blacksmith's apron and a red shirt underneath. Chris has always had an honor complex that he adopted from his father, who was the only person he trusted. Even today, he has trouble trusting people and will be cold to most people he doesn't know. Deep down he is a very warm person but comes off as distant.

What is your Character's ambitions?:My dad always said that it was his greatest desire to see me take over the forge, and so I'll do everything I can to honor his last wish. Above all else, I just want to live a normal life, but don't think that means I'm not going to rise to the call when needed.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc):My greatest tools are my anvil, crafting table, and my mind, but I do have a bit of training with a sword. I'm not above using a pick if I can't find work as a blacksmith.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?I am best at my table and I haggle a bit. I have informal training in swordsmanship and I'm willing to follow orders. I am a hard worker and find physical labor doesn't bother me.

Other Information about your Character:Chris is a very distant person to people he doesn't know. His since of honor drives Chris's every day activity, and his father has instilled a respect to authority in him. So much that Chris has been known to give some officers he likes special deals on their repairs or crafting orders.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? As Christopher began to walk home from his pilgrimage to the Cloud Temple he noticed a couple of men and a halfling. those men don't look like they are up to any good... Christopher thought as he approached their position. "Hey? what do you think you two are doing the that poor halfling?" he asked them, standing his full height. "Well well, what do we have here? what's it to ya, hero?" the larger of the two approached Chris, brandishing his blade. The men were scarred up from head to tow and the shorter of the two had an eye patch. "sure, you could easily use your swords but why not fight like a man?" Christopher raised his fists and stood in a fighting stance. "Ha ha! look at this guy! alright, I'll accept, and when I win I get to kill you!" the taller man dropped his sword and rushed at Chris. Chris ducked under his first punch but took the second to the stomach. As Chris doubled over in pain, the man brought his hands up to slam into Chris's back, but Chris took the opportunity to tackle the man to the ground and punched him square in the face before he was thrown off by the second man, who had joined into the fight. the two men were starting to overwhelm Chris, but, right when it seemed he would loose the fight, he came up with an idea. Chris quickly swept the larger man's legs out with a swift kick and grabbed the others head and slammed it into his knee. Before the men could stand back up, Chris was gone, halfling in hand. "Why are you running away? You had those guys on the ropes!" the halfling asked from under his arm. "Because, I was never all that good in a fight. I figured I could at least survive the fight long enough to catch a break..." Christopher placed the man back down after running several more feet, "ok, we should be far enough away, get out of here while you can."

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? "Hello, I'm a new blacksmith that has started up business in town and I think we can help each other out," offered Chris putting and iron boot onto the counter "as you can see, I make high quality armor, but the problem is I don't have a supplier yet. So hear me out, good sir, if you supply me with iron at a discounted price, I can sell it back to you at a discounted price!" he continued to explain. "Which means a net gain fo' the both of us! I like yo' thinkin' there, blacksmith, we go' ourselves a deal" the keeper replied offering his hand which Christopher shook greatly, knowing that he had his first real sale in his new town.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:Hmm... I could definitely use those ingots... and I like the design for that sword... Christopher thought as he pulled the items out of the chest to inspect them. The iron looked almost freshly smelted and the golden sword was magnificently crafted, it was obvious that the sword was ceremonial in some way but was still crafted as if it were going into battle at any moment. Chris noticed a dragon sculpted into the hilt of the sword that extended down to the pommel where the dragon's mouth held a jewel. "It's beautiful, it's perfectly crafted, I could just take it now and leave with it before anyone knew it was gone. But it's not mine to take; I didn't earn this." Chris then, with a heavy heart, put back the items. His honor forbid him from taking anything he hadn't earned. And so, with one last look, Chris walked away, saddened that he could not keep them, but inspired by the design of the golden sword.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? "hello there! you look lost, you need some help?" a man by the fire adressed Chris "No... ugh... I'm- I'm fine, but could I interest you in some fine leatherwork?" Christopher pulled out a shodded pair of boots and a tattered jerkin from his pack. "Now this is a bargin for you, as all I request in return is a loaf of bread for these peices." "Uh... s-sure that sounds like a great deal!..." the merchant said as he pulled out a loaf of bread and handed it to Chris. "Hey, why are you doing that, those pieces are terrible! we'll never sell them!" his parter hissed at him under his breath. "Listen, I've delt with people like him before, all he wants is to feel like he earned it. He doesn't want any cherity, even if he has to trick himself to get it," the merchant replied as Chris took a large bite out of the loaf and sat down on the empty seat. "So, where is this caravan headed next?" Chris asked between mouthfulls. "well we were going to make a stop in solice in the next fortnight, care to join us?" the merchant's friend asked, catching on to the cherity act. "I think we have a deal! I'll tag along but for your trouble I could chop fire wood on the way to keep my stay," Chris concluded as he finished the last of his bread.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: "My father taught me how to use a sword, maybe I can help," responded Christopher stepping out of the crowd. "Well, how good are you with that sword?" asked the leader; the man must have been the captain of the guards, due to his difference in uniform. He was a man of large stature and had a rough beard and bald head that almost made him look like the epitome of manhood. "Just enough to hold my own. I'm just a blacksmith but I'm willing to help the guards in any way I can. "Actually, our men have been fighting with out of date weapons, perhaps you could fix them up as well as helping out with the bandits," the captain offered Christopher his old rusty sword. Christopher took the sword and looked it up and down, "ah I see where your problem is, I think I could help you out, sir." "Excellent! we will have your payment in after we worry about those bandits."

Accepted.

I love the improvements to your biography :)

A little bit more work could be done on your grammar, but that isn't central to becoming accepted.

Well done! :) If you need any assistance just send me a message on the forums or find me on Team Speak. (J'Ranar (Lucas) )
