Ventusyr 233 Share Posted April 21, 2012 Out-Of-Character Minecraft Account Name: Ventusyr How old are you?: 14 going on 15 Time-Zone/Country of Residence: United States of America, Pacific Coast Time Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes, yes I do. I consider myself to be a grammar Nazi and have the tendency to correct people on their grammar occasionally. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I consider myself to be a pacifist. I try to be kind to people I meet both on and off the Internet, and the only time I’ll be rude to another human being (or anything else) is if they’re being rude to a friend of mine. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: I could only be on during weekends for a few hours, unfortunately. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Role-playing is living a life, or role, that is not your own. It is a classic form of story-telling that has been passed down through the ages, from the Ancient Greeks to Minecraft. What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I have role-played via text in several role-play forums in different websites before. This will be my first role-play using Minecraft, though. In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta-gaming is using a characters’ “puppeteer’s” real name or username in the middle of a story. If you refer or address a character you have never met via chat or otherwise, that too is meta-gaming. In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Power-gaming is playing the win, basically. You exclude all other paths and head directly for the main goal. Many people feel that this type of gaming is not as entertaining and accomplishing as enjoying the game to it’s fullest by wandering and such, but it is a matter of opinion and perspective. I have power-gamed a few times, but that was when I could only have the game for three days and I had wanted to see what the ending was... What do you expect this server will be like?: I think that the world Asulon is going to be amazing. I’ve seen some of the screenshots and looked over the map, and the area is just so big. It’s a place I don’t think someone could get bored by. I also think that, since it’s a white-listed server, the community and the role-playing will be in-depth and awesome. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I have not played on any Minecraft role-play servers yet, because none of them seemed very impressive. This one seems different. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: I have read, understood, and agreed to the rules. Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: I promise to abide by the said rules. How did you hear about us?: I heard of Lord of the Craft from a friend of mine named Brennan (username brennan90), and he seemed pretty excited about, so I came to check it out. Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: No. This is my first application. Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there. (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/832121-%E2%96%91%E2%96%92%E2%96%93-the-lord-of-the-craft-%E2%96%93%E2%96%92%E2%96%91-enter-the-world-of-asulon-o-f-f-i-c-i-a-l-l-y-t-h-e-n-o-1-r-p-s-e-r-v-e-r/): In-Character: Character Name: Ventusyr. The name’s Ventusyr. What Race are you?: Human, bred and born. Why do you ask? What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Fully human and mortal, thank you very much. Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Well, that’s a bit of a long story. Sit down, make yourself comfortable… Now, I was born twenty years ago in a wagon out in the wilderness of Asulon, to a merchant father and warrior mother. My mother, unfortunately, died soon after childbirth of some strange sickness, so my father was left to bring me up. We finished the journey to a large city – can’t remember the name, though it was something with a lot of vowels – and we settled down there. When I was ten, I began helping my father run the shop, which sold pretty much anything we could get our hands on, and things were looking pretty up for us. Good times do not last. An attack by a rival city-state destroyed our shop and injuries from the wreckage killed my father. Half the city was in ruins, and, having no place to go, got sucked into the circles of urban mercenaries and underground deals... The particular gang I was in was the Runners, a group of what some would call “street urchins” who ran an underground courier service. Their leader, a young man by the name of Firen, taught me how to wield a sword and complete deliveries without being noticed by city guards and whatnot. Again, I felt I had found my home. And again Fate would make a laughing stock of me. The city discovered our home base, the basement of a ruined church, and set up a raid against it. Most of my fellow couriers were either arrested or killed, with the exception of a few runners who escaped out a hidden entrance. Firen was one of the slain, defending the tunnel with an uncanny determination. That happened about five years ago. I’ve just been wandering through cities, doing deliveries both above and underground, and other odd jobs since then. I haven’t had such a great life. Maybe now it’ll be better. What is your Character's ambitions?: Well, to find someplace that I can call my home. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): A sword. My skill with the tool is my only reminder of Firen and the home I once had, albeit a criminal one. What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? I know how to stay unnoticed in an urban environment, how to escape when in pursuit, and to defend myself for as long as I need to. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format): Wanderer of Asulon Updated Other Information about your Character: Well, I like bread. In every city I travel to, I always sample their bread. Bread can tell a lot about the economic situation of a civilization, as well as the attitude and personality of the average citizen of that city. Open-Response-Questions Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? Ventusyr approaches the warriors, face stretched in a forced smile and a hand on the hilt of his sword. He cautiously shouts at the warriors to leave the halfling alone, drawing his sword as he does so. The bandits turn to face him. At this point, Ventusyr shouts for the halfling to run, then carefully approaches the warriors in a defensive stance. The bandits rush at him, and, after a brief battle, Ventusyr runs after the halfling, the bandits right behind him. Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? Returning the smile of the shopkeeper, he nods and asks for some bread and water. As he waits for the merchant to get the supplies, he looks around the marketplace, assuring himself that there are multiple exits and planning a potential escape if he is attacked. Once the merchant returns, Ventusyr pays him the due amount, wishes him prosperity, and vanishes into the loud crowds of customers. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Ventusyr draws his sword, looking back and forth with a slightly suspicious expression. He kicks the door open with his foot, readying himself for a battle as the door falls down. When nothing emerges, he walks in, sword still drawn and ready. He looks outside the window at the empty wilderness around the hut, then opens the chest. After examining the sword and iron ingots for a few seconds, he deposits them in his own bag and exits the hut, resuming his long journey. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond? Ventusyr bows, then asks if he may stay in their camp for a time. As he warms himself by the fire and nibbling on bread, he asks where the traders are from and where they are going. As they respond with their individual tales, he examines every one of the merchants as the speak, determining whether or not they are threats. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Ventusyr cautiously steps forward and raises his hand, indicating he will join the guards in their attack. He then urges the other listeners to draw their swords and remove this threat to their town, hoping that the people will join the small attack force. After the force is ready, he follows the commander down to the path to the bandit camp, along with the other warriors fighting alongside him.
Thu'um 530 Share Posted April 21, 2012 Denied, Please Re-Apply After 24 Hours. I enjoyed your application, and it was indeed excellent. I believe you would be a great addition to our Community. Unfortunately, you have about one flaw. Your Powergaming Definition is Incorrect. You portray powergaming as the pursuit to win. In a way, this is leaning towards the correct answer. However, it is not specifically what we want. I'll redirect you to a link to where you can find how to define Powergaming: (In your own words! :P) -- Link: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=Roleplaying ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Another thing I'd like you to know: This is not one of the reasons towards your denial but once you're accepted, I'd like you to keep this in mind. In your third open response question, you take the items in the hut. You are allowed to do this because this response is stationed in the wilds. However, anywhere else (not in the wilds) requires a Villain Application to perform villainous acts. A Villain Application can be acquired after you have been accepted to the server for approximately 2 weeks, and it one of the more difficult applications to be accepted upon. You do not have to edit this response but I would like for you to keep this in mind so that when you are online the server you will not murder or do other acts such as thievery without an Accepted VA.
