((Good thing that I was already designing a mangodel before I saw this. That way once its complete I can't be accused of meta.))

*Velir groans, as yet another one of his equations fail. He rummages through all his books in his shelf, and looks franticly for anything that may help. He quickly reads something about 'Cushioning impact' when he suddenly gets an idea. He jumps up, his chair flying backwards, as he draws up a new sketch.*

"If I put that there...And then I put that there...Then screw it in with bolts of iron...Then I get the Lumber Guild to precisely cut that...And then the Smithing Guild does that..."

*Velir quickly runs out of his room, not even thinking about all the maths required for it, and lumbers off to speak to Kjell. He cannot believe he may have found something to stop the arms from being ripped off of the weapon. He knows that if he perfects this, then it will work. But, all logic and math have gone from his mind from excitement.*

*New sketches are shoved underneath the original letter.*

This is what may stop the arm from flying off the body.

And these are the obsidian roots covered in melted iron.

[Note that these are not in effect. The obsidian roots have been designed for a while, so they SHOULD work, but the softener has absolutely NO mathematical planning or anything of the such.]

*A new note is written underneath. Some of the other notes are beginning to get crumpled and un-readable...*

I have done every equation possible. The obsidian alone, could not hold up the weight of the catapualt. But, if it is surrounded by melted iron, and then the iron is hardened again, it gives enough strength for it to stay in place. I must do more calculations, but prototypes will start in four to six (4-6) years.
