A New Advancement In Weapons...

Velir smiles, as he writes the last few words of his letter. He brushes it off, and looks over it. There is a small ink stain, but that does not matter. What does matter, is that he has finally completed it. He has finally developed a new kind of weapon for the Dwarves...

Hello, my fellow Dwarves!

Many of you may not know me! I tried for Grand Merchant, but I failed. I am quite sad about that, but I have some good news! I may not have gotten the Grand Merchant job, but I have dedicated my smarts to something else! Siege Weapons! I shall make weapons for the Dwarven nation, that shall shake the walls of our enemies! No wall shall hold us back!

I have spent over 3 years creating these plans, and I have tried to create them to the best of my ability! I believe these will be stable, and will not backfire, but do not take my words as a certainty! There are a few that are guaranteed to fail! I currently have 2 designs, that I believe will work. One for when we are on the offence, and one for when we are defending from those bloodthirsty Orc's!

The writing gets bolder, as he begins to explain his new weapons.

First off, is the lesser of the two. But it is still great! This weapon takes advantage of coals burning properties, and mixes it with the toughness of stone. It will break through walls, whilst lighting any wood on fire. It will break through wooden gates with ease, as it will burn through such petty beings.

I have spent 1 year working on this, and I believe it will be too dangerous to use in our own Kingdom. The risk of attacking fellow Dwarves by mistake, is too great. Therefor; I propose we only use this weapon for attacks. I will be completely appalled if the Dwarves use this for defence, but that is not my choice. That is the King of War's choice.

Sketched images are attached to the letter.

This is it, without the flames roaring.

-Note-

As I have checked this design again, it seems the fire will burn the supports that are made of wood, therefor; it will be unusable. I will have to re-create the designs, and make sure to stop the fire from spreading somehow.

Now, this one I am much more proud of. It takes advantage of weight and hight, and we can easily use this in defence. Above all, it is impossible to sabotage. Now, I will explain it in full. Prepare for the greatest weapon, of all time!

This is a weapon, that is stuck to the ceiling. It is tied by rope. It is strong enough to hold the stone in place, but it is quite weak, so it can be broken quite easily. Now, as the weapons swings down to shoot the rock, it gains much speed. This speed, it seems, can be turned into force. It can be used to create more of a 'push'. Once it has picked up a certain amount of speed, the ropes will break under the force, and will then send the rock flying.

Now, this is the part I am extremely proud of. I will need some of the miners to hit the rock in specific places, so that once it hits the ground, instead of making a dent in the army, and only affecting 10-15 enemies, it will break. It will shatter into many pieces, affecting many people, whilst leaving the floor looking exactly the same. I believe this is superior, for instead of cleaning up the whole Dwarven capitol (Like last battle...) We will only have to move a few rocks. Much better, aye?

Now, how will a weapon of such weight stay up to the roof? Well, it will be quite costly material wise, such as Obsidian, but I think we can spare some. Now, this Obsidian will be rooted through the roof, and then melted iron will surround it to keep it in place. I believe this may work, but I will need to do mathematical work to fully understand if this shall be successful.

More sketched images are below the note.

-Note-

Tests have shown that the speed and velocity behind the shot will rip the arm right off the body. Therefor; This design will be unusable until I re-evaluate and re-design this.

The letter is signed with

'Velir Braveaxe.'

[Again, if this breaks lore, or something such as that, please delete the thread. I would HATE to go against the lore, and hard-work of this server.]

[As Lore Master and an amateur historian to confirm if this stays within the 'timeframe of 13th Century technology', I will read over this and help you decide if against RP or not if you'd like]

[i know. I have created them with flaws deliberately. They cannot be perfect instantly, that would go against RP. And I have spoken to Seventh. Expect a few good things, Dwarves.]

[Discussed it with Aryon, for those confused by the description, this is a mangonel in other words. The first appearance of the medieval Mangonel (The Ancient one is such like the Onager) was in the 1200s during the Siege of Dover. Insofar as I can see, I believe this is purely acceptable! Have fun Aryon!]

[Yes, I agree with Skippy. Do. Not. Meta. Now, I am going to be spending around 2 weeks IRL on each of these, so do not say 'You need to spend more time creating it!' I have already spoken to Seventh, and I am going to be spending a long time developing them. All in RP.]
