And what of self-taught magic users and new systems of magic?

A self taught user would have to provide a lot more evidence and reasoning behind their teaching. Seeing how many might just skip the "being taught" part of magic rp by just saying they are self taught.

Of new magic systems, that would go under lore, if you wish to post new lore, I am hoping to get a seperate thread section sorted out for magic in which people can post their ideas in. Then it would be reviewed by the magic team, then put forwards to the GM's if deemed to fit lore, reasonably detailed and not powergammy.

For example, lore that puts you into a very large position of power like lets say...

"another noble race".

Unless we saw a lot of RP reasoning behind this and their magical skill, and presented in a way that isn't power gaming, it would most likely be denied. Because of the fact that a noble race is the collective term for races like the Ascended and undead.

Things that write players into a position of power, a very large position of power will most likely be denied because of the fact that part of the reason we are here is to make things fair.

I mean, you wouldn't like the idea of a God like race walking around being able to unmake people in an instant because they are on the same level as anguels and daemons now would you?

That may be an extreme case but there is a lore that we recently reviewed which was a lot like that and thus we deemed it too powergaming and unfair.

Another reason why we are here is to help the GM's, I mean, it must be tiring for them to have to, not only gauge in in game moderating, but also have to gauge in looking at lore in the your ideas and lore section, looking through the monumental amounts of magic lore ideas along with a lot of other styles of lore as well. Finding the ones that might actually work and deeming it acceptable.

Magic is not a tool everyone, it is not used to "gain an advantage" or to be the "Ultimate uber pwnage nubdecimator" on the server. Magic is another form of RP. Part of the fun of magic is going through the basic steps, learning from the ones before in very colourful, drawn out rp sessions that lasts several RL days and weeks. Maybe even months.

It is something that adds interesting RP both to yourself and to those around you. Again, it is not a tool, it is an extension of RP.

Hmm. If thats the care I'll temporarily retire my "Sandman" character until said mystical app comes out.

I think the actual advice you were supposed to take from this is to start your sandman character off from the very beginning.

Learn some mental magics from people (they exist) and add your personal flavor to it as the result of some RP.

This is exactly what I think. I really think of it as being a good RP experience for me, and others that I interact with. I really agree with you about the fun of learning. Thats why I'm very eager to learn magic (me and cataris have worked some stuff out). Learning is half of the fun of magic, and rolling a magic char is VERY unlikely. I've seen many apps denied because their char got magic off the bat. Not only is that power gaming, but it reduces the fun of the learning of the art of MAGIC! (I like being dramatic ;) )

What of new magic systems which are exceedingly weak and mundane - would they be more likely to be reviewed and accepted?

So long as they are reasonable detailed and have a good rp reason to why it is here... That and so long as this mundane type of magic is fair.

So, I am working on Lore for enchanted weapons, and I asked the GM's through the QandA if that would be possible. They said if sufficient RP was provided they could possible give an enchanted weapon to the creator. It has to do with the High Elven myth about the magic metal. Would I have to run this by the magic team?
