In-Character:

Character Name: Sayar

What Race are you?: Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): none

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Sayar is a 22 year old human of fair height. He has seemingly dull black eyes that hide a cunning hunter and survivalist. He has a rugged brown beard and equally brown hair concealed by a black hood.

Sayar was born in a small town within the Hanseti region in Asulon. Sayar’s parents where farmers and in his father’s case a part time hunter as well. Sayar had 2 other siblings, Ryan 3 years his senior and Elane 5 months younger than him. Ever since Sayar could remember they all had struggled to live in the harsh blizzards and snow that where a constant in his village.

Sayar was taught from the moment he could stand of the ways of farming as every hand would be needed to harvest the preciouses crops. At the age of 9, Sayar was the second best farmer of his family, the first belonging to his elder brother Ryan. Sayar always had a grudge against Ryan as it seemed that in no matter what Sayar learned to do his brother was always better. Whether it be the daily farming and harvesting of crops or to cooking meals, Sayar was always outshined by his ever so popular brother.

Years went by and the endless cycle of farm life continued and as did Sayars ever growing envy of his brother. It was when he was 12 that things started to change. It was a particularly bad winter and the crops where all but gone. Sayar’s family, like most of the other villagers, where in desperate need of food. His father eventually decided to take both of his sons out on a hunt through the snowy forests where the wild beasts where known to roam. Giving both of his sons a fine bow and numerous arrows, they went off for a hunt for food. Sayar had never held a bow in his life before and much to his surprise learned that Ryan never did aswell. After an hour or so of trecking through solid snow, they arrived at the edge of the forest.

Sayar’s father first taught them the bare basics of the bow and where to aim for the beasts. After a quick instruction, it seemed that the pair understood well enough and thus the hunt truly began. After many more hours of searching and wading through the snow covered forest, the group managed to spot a deer in a clearing. Sayar’s father and brother both quickly pulled out their arrows and hastily took a shot at the wild beast. Sayar was still getting his bow fully drawn as the two both missed their shots. The deer sensing the danger it was in quickly started to flee. As the other two shouted angrily and quickly tried to chase the fleeing target, Sayar unleashed his shot and watched in awe as it sailed straight and true into the deer’s flank and killing it.

That moment was forever imprinted into Sayars mind as he felt an unknown satisfaction from within. For the first time in his life, Sayar managed to outshine his brother. It was then that Sayar decided to start his mastery of the bow and the hunt.

As time went by, Sayar diligently practiced his hunting skills to the point he was proclaimed the best shot of the village. Yet in doing so he forsook his family’s farm and as such they suffered for it. Eventually his own family disowned him and sent him to live in exile in the forests that he loved oh so much. At first, Sayar was content with this as it freed him from the dull lifestyle of farming and living in his brother’s shadow. For despite being a better archer and shot, Roger was still outshining him in every other category.

Yet as time went by and Sayars survival skills increased, he could not help but feel that he was missing a greater purpose, a grander cause than hunting and cooking wild game. Eventually Sayar decided that it was time to move on from hunting in the wilds and to return back to civilization. For despite his love for the hunt, Sayar missed the touch of civilization. Deciding to start a new life within civilization, Sayar moved out of the Hanseti region he lived in all his life to wander the wilds in search for a new purpose in life.

What is your Character's ambitions?: Sayar wishes be able to live a lifestyle of relative ease when he grows old. But for now he travels town to town in search of a job that he can put his all into. He believes that if he does this, he will be able to find his “true purpose” in life.

Other Information about your Character:

Sayar is an easygoing man if not a bit out of touch due to his time living in solitude. He can be blunt and rude at times but generally means good by his actions. He does secretly believe in the ideals of “survival of the fittest” but does not follow it to the extreme. Sayar is not unwilling to do unlawful things and is somewhat guided by impulse. Knowing this he tries to stay out of unnecessary fighting but atlas he finds himself more often than not in a fight or argument of some kind. He is also loyal to anyone he decides to follow unless he feels betrayed by them or a much better offer comes, usually the later when and if he switches sides.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small Halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Sayar can hear the warriors before he sees them. After a short walk he finds the group and starts to listen in interest. After a minute or so he realizes that the soldiers are trying to forcefully take money from the seemingly innocent Halfling. “Bah more thugs who can’t make an honest living. Despicable really but it is what it is I suppose” thought Sayar as he walked by the group. Then the Halfling gave a sudden shout “He took the money!” and pointed at Sayar.

“Wat? How dare he!” replied the first Warrior. “You watch tha shrimp I’ll get the other one”. The Warrior approached Sayar with a wicked gleam in his eye as he pulled out a small dagger and grabbed Sayars shoulder. Thinking Sayar as easy pray despite knowing his innocence, he confronts him with a crooked grin. “Well well well, wot do we hav’ here? Another thief it seems eh? Just surrender all ya belongings and we will…let this incident slide heh.”

Sayar looked at the Warrior in mock horror. “I don’t want my belongings taken!” he said in a slightly mocking voice. “Well to bad! Give it to me now or else!” Replied the Warrior angrily. Then Sayar suddenly turned around and smashed the thugs face with a heavy punch. The thug, taken by surprise, stumbled backwards only to fall down screaming in pain. “ack meh nose my nose is bro-“ the Warrior said no more as Sayar crudely knocked him out cold. Sayar then stared at the other warrior who after seeing his comrade taken down ran away quickly.

“Oh thank you so kindly good sir! How can I ever repay you?” remarked the Halfling. Sayar walked up to the happy Halfling and stared him angrily in the eyes. “What the hell do you think you where doing eh? I could have been seriously mugged or killed because of your inability to defend yourself! I don’t want your thanks…” Afterwards Sayar left the area quickly not wanting to be forced into more trouble or be wrongly accused.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

“Do you have any arrows I could buy shopkeeper?” replied in response.

“oh yes I have many arrows infact! Here take a look at my fine selection.” Replied the merchant smoothly.

Sayar looks at the arrows and starts inspecting them in a seemingly random manner.

“hey! Don’t be messing with my goods you hear! If it be quality your looking for they are all of the top quality let me say!” the shopkeeper angrily said assuming Sayar was purposely going through the arrows for that reason.

After a bit of searching Sayar got 3 sets of arrows and put them in front of the shopkeeper, moving the other arrows in a big heap to the side. “I’ll take these oh shopkeeper.” Announced Sayar, happy with his choices.

“Ack fine, 50 minas for the lot of them!” and to get you out of my fine shop, thought the Shopkeeper.

“Here you go!” exclaimed Sayar as he casually flipped the minas to the shopkeeper.

Seeing that the shopkeeper collected them and made sure it was the right amount, Sayar whistled an out of tune song as he walked out of the shopkeeper’s store.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

After looking for a suitable place to make camp for the night Sayar finds, much to his surprise, an abandoned hut. After doing a quick search around the area to make sure no one was inside, he nodded to himself and went inside. He noticed quickly that there was a chest left open with the goods inside.

After looking over the items, particularly the gold sword, Sayar decided to loot the goods. “I should be able to sell these for a nice amount” thought Sayar happily, thankful for whomever left this chest here. It never came across to Sayar that this could be seen as unlawful, perhaps partially due to not seeing any signs of inhabitance while scouting the area before entering.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

Upon arriving at the camp, Sayar gratefully returns their greetings. “After long days of trekking in this unfamiliar jungle, tis nice to see such a sight” thought Sayar happily. As he settled down in the camp he took note of everyone nearby. After concluding that they were unlikely to try and ambush or steal form him, Sayar relaxed his guard and started socializing with the camp members.

He first spent some coins on food and drinks to restore some of his strength. Afterwards he exchanged news and tales with the camp members besides a roaring fire. After a long night of light fun Sayar managed to secure a bed for a nights rest so he could continue his travels fully refreshed the next morn.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

After waking up in the middle of the morning, Sayar quickly hears the murmur bellow his current room in the inn he is staying at. After lazily putting on some cloths he goes down stairs to hear what the fuss is all about. He hears the leader of the town guard talking of the bandits just outside the town and how he is recruiting help. At first Sayar feels a flash of anger over the fact that bandits are delaying his travel towards a hunting tournament that is happening in a nearby village.

He is tempted to go help out so he can leave quicker and get some pay as an added bonus. Sayar then overcomes his flash of anger and thinks to himself “As much as I want to get out of here quickly, it’s not worth going out of my way to help some incompetent guards. Besides I would rather save my arrows for the upcoming hunt.” With his decision made, Sayar decides to wait for the guards to deal with the bandits. So he can leave the town peacefully.
