Saeldur arrived at the tower moments after Ambros, seeming slightly winded

"Ambros I have arrived. What is it you need from me?"

"I need you to meet me in the Arcanum, Saeldur."

Ambros walks downstairs through the tower, flipping a switch and walking through the secret door it opened. He motions Saeldur to follow. When they arrive in the Arcanum, Ambros reveals an Ender Eye.

"This is what we will store the energy from the node in. I assume it will work."

"Let's hope it does.."

Ambros holds the Ender Eye over the hole to the void, when he lets go of it, it hovers there and he and Saeldur wait patiently for a few moments. The tower creaks and groans around them as they wait. All of a sudden, out of nowhere a man with a golden mask steps into the room. Saeldur is Bewildered but Ambros seems to know the man. Saeldur keeps his focus on the Eye as they argue for a few moments. All of a sudden, the stranger drops down to all fours and slowly walks towards Saeldur. Ambros chuckles as he raises his staff in the air, it starts to glow a bright blue as he slices through the air with a downward motion, sending a ball of bright blue energy hurtling towards the man. The ball barely misses a critical blow, hitting him in the legs and knocking him to the floor.

"That's a new one.."

"All of our previous encounters have been childish games. Now it is time to show you my true power.."

Saeldur watches in amazement, seeing Ambros do things he's never seen. All of a sudden, the strange man summons a swirling sphere of black energy above his hand, throwing it at Ambros.

"Shade Magic! B.. But how!"

"Hehe.. Here's a gift from Rilath.."

Two shadowy appendages emerge from his body, whipping around near his back. He screams, sending them at Saeldur. He ducks instinctively, barely missing the attack as it sails by him. He hears a muffled groan and turns to see Ambros bleeding, a hole in his chest.

"Saeldur.. You.. Killed me.."

"No.. I didn't.. It was that man.."

Turns to see the man lying lifeless on the floor behind him, he doesn't know why just yet.

"You avoided Regaki's attack.. Therefore.. It hit me.. The law of the guild.. States that if you are in the guild.. And you kill a High Mage.. You become a High Mage yourself.. Saeldur.. You will take my place.. I must let you know.. You cannot resign from this position.. You will lead the council for the rest of your life.. Now, Regaki will lead you out of here.. Now go.."

Ambros slowly fades into nothingness as Saeldur stands and walks towards the now alive Regaki.

"Follow me Master."

Regaki leads Saeldur out of the now crumbling tower, going back in to retrieve some of the books that were still in the Arcanum.

"What now, Master?"

"Now.. We must inform the council what has happened.."

((That was very anticlimactic. Back in my day that "guild rule" never existed, when did it appear? This all smells awfully fishy..))

*Cataris sits down at his small table within his tent, the ocean breeze blowing into the tent. A man robed in green, gold and back appears at the tent opening, announcing himself as he walks in to deliver a letter of Ambros' demise. Cataris tears past the wax, opening the letter, he quickly reads over. There is not much to read apart from the fact Ambros has passed away, how? it is not specified, though it is clear, Ambros is dead. Cataris crumples up the letter, cursing under his breath as he stands up from his table, pacing back and forth across the small room. His plans will now be inevitably delayed.*

Dante sits, allowing the gentle elven breeze of Normandor to tug at his hair and overcoat. He looks over to Stral'don sitting at his side, putting an arm over her thin shoulders. Suddenly his attention is pulled away as the elven boat pulls up to the dock, distributing a tall elf. Dante pulls his head up, apologizing to Stral. Slowly he makes his way towards Saeldur...

[[Why didn't I just stay in Laurelin and keep trying to get into the Mage's Guild. Everything seems so INTERESTING!

Sits in Alras wondering if any more people are gonna drift through. ]]

[[sometimes I wonder how old Ambros actually was. I remember him being over 70 in Al'khazaar times... hmmm... sad to see him die, regardless. However, nobody should outstay their welcome, as they say. It's good he died now rather than drawn out far too long like some characters.]]
