Out-Of-Character

Main Minecraft Account Name: erlend0501

Alternate Minecraft Account Name: Hobolympic

In your own words, define what the act of Roleplaying is: The act of Roleplaying is acting like another person than yourself. You must solely act as the character you are playing, and not let it mix with your own life. By roleplaying, you escape your own world to step into someone else's shoes. Also, you must let the character make the choices based on his/her personality/experiences, and not your own. Been playing on this server for about 8-9 months now, so I sure LOVE roleplaying ;)

In your own Words, define what the act of Metagaming is: Metagaming is using out of character-info in game. This also applies to information you only know OOC. You cannot simply give your character that information just because you know such OOC. If you have not experienced the info IC, then you character cannot know. For example, one can metagame the nameplate of another character, recognizing that character, even though the character is (for example) wearing a hood, not making his face visible. Metagaming is a serious problem when it comes to roleplay, it make things highly unrealistic. Here's also an example:

Jordan has never seen Richard before, and he does not know his name. He is strolling down a road when suddenly a guy bumps into him, doing an emote. *Richard bumps into Jordan.*

Then, Jordan responds with: "Hello, Richard."

^Metagaming, because he never got to know the name of Richard, even though he wrote his name in the emote, but an emote is not oral. It simply describes what is happening.

In your own Words, define what the act of Powergaming is: Powergaming is when you play your character unfairly, for example in a RP fight. Example:

*Jordan lunges out at Richard, stabbing him through the heart, killing him.*

^Powergaming, as Richard did not get any chance to counter the attack. Things liker this CAN be solved with a /roll 20, but it is not mandatory. Another example is playing a giant 19 feet tall halfling, stepping on everyone, but I do not think we should go further into that matter :3

In-Character:

Character Name: Jaren Voul

What Race are you?: Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):Northerner

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):As a young man, Jaren grew up in a small village, known as Velthen. Velthen was not too far away from Celestine, back in old Aegis. The community mainly consisted of outcasts and farmers living side by side, working together to survive the cold winters of the north. His mom and dad were both peasants who worked day and night in the wheatfields, next to the pine forest close by. Jaren had two older brothers and one little sister. While his older brothers were set to chop wood for the settlement, Jaren, was the one who had to drag all the lumber back to the village. In his free time, his father would teach him how to handle the axe in combat. However, their doom was inevitable. They were unknowing of the undead force lurking among the trees that day. One of his brothers, Thordir, was the only one to escape the lumber mill alive, with a small group of others. An evacuation took place when the news spread to Velthen. Jaren and his family moved to a worn farmstead next to the city of Al'Khazar. The stay didn't last long, as the threat grew bigger by each day. There was only one thing to do, and that was to voyage the sea, to a brighter realm. Aegis was lost, and while Jaren watched his homeland minimize in the distance, he thought of his past life, the present, and the future.

Life was tough on board of the ship. Several people had died so far from deficiency diseases and fever, but the family stuck together through it all. The shores of Asulon was visible in the horizon, and the ships eventually hit land. Peasants, nobles, bards, kings, soldiers and pioneers took their first step in the sandy beach of Asulon, and the cheers of several thousand men and women could be heard. Jaren and his family eventually settled in another small settlement, and the family grew prosperous the next days that followed. That was all to change when the plague came to the village. The Voul family split as Jaren's father caught the deadly disease. Jaren understood that it was time to move on. Only death would await him here, and so shortly after his older brother's leave, he carried on his own life, heading south. With an axe on his shoulder and a coat of chainmail, he strolls off into the yonder.

What is your Character's ambitions?:Jaren wants money. He is tired of having to work hard for his own survival, and is looking for an easy way to get what he wants. At times, he can be very greedy and rarely shares his supplies with strangers, unless he knows them well. Jaren will only trust people who trust him.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format):

Since Jaren is a traveler, he is fond in using his coat of chainmail his dad granted him when he was younger. It provides protection, yet it is light when it comes to weight. He always carries an axe in his scabbard.

Other Information about your Character:Jaren is a man of honor, or so he thinks. He dislikes GREATLY if people offends him or his friends. He is also known to be slightly rude to people who doesn't know him.

((Also, I will make a VA for Jaren at a later date, but no villainious actions will be performed until I get the VA of course. That is why I have cut out some of the biography that I will reveal in the VA, as it is a bit... brutal.))

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?-Snip-

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

*Jaren doesn't respond at once, because he is looking at the wares being displayed. He then replies with: "Mm... Yes, 'ello. I want one of those" *he points at the quiver filled with arrows, laying next to the bread casket. "Those, eh? Well, they're five minas each arrow, and the quiver alone would be 50 minas. The 'ole bunch goes fer 125 minas, lad." *Jaren slowly strokes his beard, before he replies with: "'Aight, I shall take it all then. Oh, and 'une of 'dose loafs as well, please." *He points at the newly baked bread.* "Okay, lad. 130 minas, and it's yours!" *Jaren pulls out a bag of minas, opens it and starts to count the contents. He then drops 130 minas on the table, grabbing for the items he has just purchased. The merchant nods at him, saying: "Thank ye, sir. Farewell to you, and come again, will ye?" *Jaren inspects the head of one of the arrows, noticing the good craftmanship used to fletch them, before he says: "Mm, aye. I shall make good use of these. Thanks." *Jaren carefully wraps the bread in paper, before his drops it into backpack. He then throws the quiver over his shoulder, and strolls off.*

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:*Slowly opens the lid on the chest while looking over his shoulder, to ensure that no one is watching. He takes out the blade, carefully inspecting it, before he gives it a try. "Bah, this ain't no good for combat!" *He slams it against the wall, and a large "Zing!" is heard as the blade hits the supports. Jaren gushes as the high pitched tone strikes his ears. Again, he looks over his shoulders, thinking that the noise would've attracted some attention. Jaren drops the sword back into the chest, slowly walking towards the exit. He manages to bang his head in the ceiling on the way, screaming out a high "Oooff!", followed with a swear. He shakes his head, sprinting off. He did not notice the ingots laying underneath the sword.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? "Howdy, lads and ladies. *coughs* Would you be so kind teh give a weary traveler something to drink, perhaps something to eat?" *The folks look at each other, nodding. "Yes, sir. Come sit down near the firepit, and we'll get you something to consume." *Jaren slowly approaches the firepit, and sits down on the treestump. A young boy hands him some loaf.* "Where are you headed, stranger" one of of them asks. "A town. Any town. Somewhere to sell my goods I have acquired" Jaren replies. "The nearest town in these parts is Indelwood. I am sure the townsfolk would love to browse your wares. We would as well, but our stocks are full for the time being." a woman states. "And where lies this "Indelwood"?" The woman thinks for a while, before she replies. "It is only two miles from here. Just head directly east and you will be there in no time.". *Jaren finishes up the loaf, before he stands up. He bows to the down graciously before he strolls towards the east.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:*Jaren opens his bag of minas, counting the contents. He realizes that his money is starting to get a little thin, so he decides to help them out. He approaches the leader who is sitting at the table. "Howdy, sir. I wish to help you fight off the bandits." he says. The leader replies: "Are you familiar with weapons, lad? You'll need them." "I was born with an axe in my hand. Do not worry about me." Jaren states. The leader stands up. "Then we are ready." He starts to shout. "People! It is time! Let us get going!" The group gathers at the square, before they head out the gates, looking for the bandits. After ten minutes, they notice four men camping next to the road. The leader shouts towards them. "Halt! State your names, business and alignment!" *The bandits jump out of their chairs, grabbing everything within their reach. The leader of the men at arms yells starts to charge, gesturing for the rest to follow. Jaren takes out his axe from the scabbard and rushes towards the campsite. The men at arms wear heavy breastplates for maximum protection, slowing them down greatly. Jaren, wearing his coat of mail, runs after the bunch of fleeing bandits. Slowly catching up with them, he jumps on one of them, swinging his axe into the back of one of the bandits. The bandit lets out a scream as Jarens axe digs itself through the ribs of the man, ending his life. The rest of the townsfolk storm past him, trampling the dead bandit's corpse to pieces. One of the bandits splits up from the two others, going towards the big pine. Jaren, seeing the other men at arms rush after the remaining bandits, he starts to sprint after the lonely wolf separated from the rest of the bandits. Slowly gaining on him, the bandit realizes that Jaren has a greater advantage when it comes to running. He decides to turn around, a put up a fight. With a sword at his side, the bandit points it at Jaren, who is walking towards him, holding his axe by the handle. The bandits decides to lunge out at him, slashing after Jaren. The sword cuts through the air, only a few inches away from Jarens left shoulder. Jaren manages to counter the attack, sliding the bandit's sword out of his hands. The bandit, unarmed, tries to punch Jaren, but he gets an axe in the side for his foolish mistake. The bandit moans in pain, yielding. Just as Jaren is about to do the final blow with his axe, the leader of the men at arms shouts at him, saying: "Spare the man! We'll handle it from here!*

*The men at arms approaches the bandit and punches him in the face. The bandit passes out from the punch, and the men carries the bandit towards the town. The leader places a hand on Jaren's shoulder, patting him. "You did well, friend. Come see me for your reward when I've locked this bastard up for good.". *Jaren with crossed arms, nods at him. Wiping of the blood of his axe, he puts the back back in its scabbard, walking along the other men at arms, towards the town.
