Hiebe 2493 Author Share Posted June 1, 2012 One of the reasons they would be changing maps is because Asulon is too big. It's beautiful, but huge Tis why I like 4 rather then 1. 1 was my favorite then I saw 4 then I was like... yes please. In between the capitals can be contested territory which will be permed and the people can expand to them if they so choose so but will need to be careful to not piss off the others. Different regions can have bonuses to the kingdom like lumber camps or artifacts that help out the kingdom
Dash_Rogers 130 Share Posted June 1, 2012 One of the reasons they would be changing maps is because Asulon is too big. It's beautiful, but huge The hugeness makes it feel like we live in a world with multiple biomes, terrains and everionments. The problem with Asulon is the 100s of establishments across those landscapes. We can still have a large map, for realistic caravan travel and such across vast endless wilderness, with a few stray settlements or branched kingdom cities. So we still feel like we live in a world but will only divide the player base up enough so we don't experience day one of Asulon, 300 players in one block, everyday high speed rolling chat feeds. If we have a small map, things will get boring real fast. I still have not been everywhere possible in Asulon. There is so much to see and do. I love the travel distances in Asulon, like a lord of the rings. journey when going from the vale to Alras. You should try it. Oh the sights and sounds, truly epic. Raptorious 1899 Share Posted June 1, 2012 The only problem with map 4 is the massive distances between the two continents. Its bigger than the distance between the mainland and the elven island.
Nefarious Aus Shitpost 891 Share Posted June 1, 2012 I have no problems with a large world, but I do have problems with a large spread out world. The issue with Asulon in the amount of towns. A new world should have no charters and force people into participating in one of its nations, if people want to make new settlements they have to ICly approach a nation leader to get it done. firespirit44 1323 Share Posted June 1, 2012 Alright, all this enough charter's comments need to stop for a seocnd and read this. The reason why charters exist is so GMs can keep track of what town is where and whatnot. Because this is minecraft, nothing will stop players from running into the wolds, and making their own town/kingdom. With charters, at least it is regulated. And with the kingdom plugin, it SHOULD fix this issue. ^ Now that is the reason why charters exist. If we delete charters, then whats stopping a band of players just leaving to make their own settlement somewhere?

Wavejammers 328 Share Posted June 1, 2012 Maybe we should live on one huge continent, with small islands around it. (Or maybe big). And let all the nations be close together like in Aegis?

The Best Basileus 97 Share Posted June 1, 2012 I think that a new map should have LARGE biomes so that nations living in those biomes would have adapted cultures and would rely on other nations in trade more than they now do. I also think that there should be a crop plugin that regulates the speed at which crops grow based on the biome and a randomized soil fertility scale. The thing with all the small little towns will be solved by the new Kingdoms plugin, so there is no issue there anymore. I think map 4 is great, but It doesn't look like it has enough deserts or taigas, in my opinion. Custom terrain and biome boundaries are an ABSOLUTE MUST. I really like the size of Asulon, though. Still, my vote goes to map 4
Charles_Grimlie 1072 Share Posted June 1, 2012 For the 4th map I would suggest changing a few region biomes around, the devil spine mountains can become the snow covered portion of the map along with the pine forests until it reaches the swamp (Which should be changed), another addition would be making the infernal pines a forest that constantly burns by adding elements such as obsidian for charcoal and nether rack and soulsand for the burned earth... On the other island the southern jungles could be converted to a desert that should be occupied by the orcs, (Leaving the Kharajr with the dead island or other) the lands above that can be made into plains before reaching a selection of forests and mountains inbetween there to the bridge. The island between the countries can become a very jagged cliff face'd island that bears a gravel shore which could easily house a merchant town of sorts? The humans or elves could easily occupy the lands under the devil spine forest, but I would see the humans being the most dominate choice.
no longer active 734 Share Posted June 1, 2012 I like four though in the beginning I think it would be cool if all we knew about was the two main islands. Then as we get the needs people could be sent on exploration expeditions to find them. I would also like it if there were regions set up before hand that are rich in rescources. Maybe mines and lumbercamps? I also think that the bridge in number four should be able to be controlled by whoever wants it. Opening up a potential conflict as both sides want the temple to influence new members to join their sides. People have been saying they want racial capitals but I disagree. I think each side of the world should be give to two races. On that continent they build one main capital, a hub of RP. Races could then go out and build their own cities if they wish. So I agree with Cracker on his WoW Horde vs, Alliance idea but there shouldn't be one evil side, just two aides who both think they are the best. Maybe have each side follow a different religion also?
Hiebe 2493 Author Share Posted June 1, 2012 4 I think is the best after the poll is done I shall edit it to fit for better regions and such. I feel having dwarves in the moutians with the humans owning the forest/plains below will be good. The orcs can own the marsh or change the right island to have a desert for them. Orcs question for you, will you mind living in a new environment?
。◕‿‿◕。 Hawk Whitestorm 715 Share Posted June 1, 2012 I'd like to make it clear that we aren't doing an exact replica of 4. It is just the general idea of what it could be like
