Hey There

I am new here, I haven’t applied yet as I want to read the lore extensively first, and also spend a few days on my application rather than rush it. This is not because I want to make a great application per se, but more the fact that I have a burgeoning seed of an idea for my character germinating, and I feel I need to give her a little more room to grow and mature. At least in the confines of the three ring circus of my mind.

My name in real life is Sarah, I am a 37 year old mother to a very smart three year old autistic. He is much loved, and needs quite a lot of supervision and time. Hence now I spend a lot of my time role playing in one way or another as it offers excellent entertainment and escape to other worlds, without, and here is the really brilliant thing. Going anywhere, that is going to upset a small person who finds that routine in life is absolutely essential. It also takes relatively small amounts of time and concentration away from him as well which is all to the good.

Before I became a Mummy I was a full time freelance fantasy artist, and have worked on myriad projects, but mostly painted bare breasted women astride dragons.... it seems to be the popular choice. I love to Role Play and the other Nimshae is a water dryad type creature, whose race I created totally, who lives in Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek universe on the MMO game Star Trek Online. So far I have played her every Sunday for the past nine months, and at present she plays an Ambassador from her home world Neriedies on the U.S.S. Valkyrie.

This is part of the gaming community called the 12th fleet, which is five hundred strong and who I have the esteemed position of heading up their RP department, along with my Vice Admiral Amarai. As well as my role-play experience in STO I have also played Vampire The Masquerade, Gurps, Rifts, Shadowrun, Role Master and Hunter.

I am hoping I fit in well here, as I am quite a creative person generally. I do however have some questions, I see from past applications that lore is pretty much required to be added to your character bio. However I am wanting to play a wood elf, *grins* I would love to play a Naiad, but you don’t have them *smiles*.

However you don’t seem to have a lot of lore on wood elves or their city. Can anyone give me any tips on this, or give me any directional advice on where to start this. I am loathe to just make stuff up when there is a wealth of lore, nor do I wish to have my application denied due to lack of foresight and thoroughness by myself.

Thanks very much for your time in advance

Sarah

*grins* Thank you, I am way this weekend and have plans to print off the lore so I can read it while being mostly horizontal in a small caravan in the middle of England. Hopefully with a large cup of tea and several jaffa cakes to keep me company.

Thank you for the very warm welcome, it's much appreciated and already makes me think that this is the mine craft server for me.

*hugs*

Not very helpful Bubby :P

I think I might be able to help with your question. However, it does seem quite broad, when I think you could perhaps be more specific. What exactly do you want to know?

Lore is rather de-centrallized on this server. We do have a rather great wiki, but even that can't hold even the majority of the lore on the server as most if it is locked up in people's minds and shared by either experiencing it in game or by someone telling you about it.

As per wood elves in general I did find this quote from here: "*The Wood Elven Architecture consists of living in Natural Trees in a Forest. The Trees look as if they are untouched and they are allowed to grow with the home. They may not be harmed in any way, shape, or form. The whole look and feel of the Wood Elves is a Natural Forest look as the trees are Sacred."

It is a nice little piece of background information for you, to help you get in their mindset.

As for elves in general you can find their wiki page here: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=Races_of_Asulon#hn_The_Elves

And the continent upon which they live here: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=Malinor

Now something you will also need to know about (if you intend to play a character that is more than 45 years old, or perhaps 50 so that you can write more about their memories) the exodus from Aegis - which was our old continent. You can find all you need to know here: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=The_Destruction_of_Aegis

Now, it is generally accepted that an elf *shouldn't* have childrern till around 100-200 (opinions vary), but are still capable having children around 20. Although at 20 that would be the shock, horror and shame of the family and society in which that child was born so... yeah...

If you wish to play a character that is under the age of 45-50 you can speak about where your child hood memories come from, or perhaps where you relocated to after Aegis by looking at towns from here: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/forum/62-town-and-nation-charters/

I would reccomend looking at the Elven Accepted Charters sector (accepted because the unaccepted as of now are not official towns, and elven because that is generally where you would... "Elf around"), but I will not dictate your roleplay.

Eventually you can suggest and with enough support even get implimented the race of Naiad, but that takes a whole lot of effort, dedication and the ability to write copious amounts of history and background information on the race and how they fit in with the lores of Asulon and Aegis.

I look forward to seeing you on this server! You look like a brilliant addition to our community.

Many thanks indeed.

This is unbelievably helpful, and very kind of you to take the time and effort to put it all together. Generally I tend to play youngish characters as I like to progress through role-play it's self and experience playing, rather than trying to create a total persona with no room for manouvere.

I already have a few pages of notes here, and will be making more while I am away this weekend. Then I'll begin working on my app, and also a nice new skin, when I can picture in my mind what she is going to look like.

*grins* I will leave Naiads for later, lets get to know the community, the lore, and really get comfortable before I start making a whole new race.

If anyone is interested at what level I was at, I do have an incomplete diary/log of Neried Nim here..

Water Whispers

The last log was added in Spetember last year I think, however I am very naughty and I have at least 50 more to port over here from the 12th forums. Nevertheless it does give a brief view of my experience. Hopefully I will be able to make something similar for my character here...

Thanks again

Sarah
