Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: DfiantAngel

How old are you?: 22

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: Central/USA

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: I have a fantastic understanding of the english language. :3

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I participate on a global LARP (owod & nwod) so I have had a lot of experience roleplaying. This will be the first time doing it on Minecraft, so I'm pretty excited.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: I could be on the server almost daily.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Roleplaying is character interaction. Icly, your actions, statements, and goals are all dependent on your character and what he is exposed too. Simply, its like you live and act as someone else who is involved in a whole other world separate from your own.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: Old & New World of Darkness: Vampire, Lost, And Requiem. I have also played cthulhu once with this group called Mythos. There was also a little bit of it on FFXIV

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: When one plays a character using "out of character" knowledge, one is meta gaming. If one adjusts a characters behavior towards another person's character because of real life relationships, one is meta gaming. If you address a character by name that you only heard of OOC you are meta gaming. If you venture to a town or base or some location because you learned about it ooc its meta gaming. XD Simply, meta-gaming involves someone blurring the line between what is OOC and IC.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Power Gaming involves players who show very little interest in the lore and interaction with other players. The sole goal is to quickly become powerful by "min-maxing" and by actively seeking out powerful loot. Character ties, personal motivations, back story... these things don't matter as much when a player decides to Power-game. The term in a literary format addresses actions where a player does something that the other player is given no opportunity for a reaction. Statements like "insta-killing" "shattering one's equipment" "making someone permanently blind" prevent the other person from doing anything except for identifying the unfairness of such an action. This one is definitely a buzz-kill.

What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect it to be exciting, and really engaging. =) Honestly, I'm very much looking forward to it.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: EmpireCraft was my first multiplayer server. The problem I had with it was that there just was nothing keeping me in it. Once I did what I wanted, and created something I was proud of, that's all I was able to do. Recently my friend had me join a faction pvp server, but that diminished the creative aspect of the game and increased all the griefing and flaming going on.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: I have read and agree to the rules provided.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: I will make no attempt to act outside the rules or laws provided.

How did you hear about us?: I found this server under a list of minecraft servers. XD I kind of had to go through a couple pages before I found the one that I wanted to join.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?:

In-Character:

Character Name: Tyrian DarkWood

What Race are you?: Elf

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Dark Elf

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Tyrian was brought into this world after an unusual encounter. Helen, Tyrian's mother was a Wood Elf, living in solitude in a vast forest, far outside of Malinor. Her life was spent communing with the world around her. The flora and fauna served as Helen's companions and sustenance, and all things fell in harmony around her, until one night. Moving through the trees and grass, she came upon an injured man. A Dark Elf, lying in a pool of his own plasma. His body was riddled with violet flesh and crimson gashes. It was clear that the Forest was not kind to him, but she chose to be more merciful. She nurtured his wounds, and sheltered him. When he came too, the man thanked Helen. As his wounds closed and his strength returned, he grew to love Helen, and even remained by her side long after his injuries were gone.

It was suddenly that the man disappeared, leaving Helen alone in the vast woods. Her solitude could not keep her content after the company she once had. She took no joy in the atmosphere, the fruit and air lost its appeal. As if God wished to wash away her sorrow, she found herself with child. The baby held a darker complexion than Helen, and his eyes shined of rubies. She raised the boy as she was, and taught him the ways of the forest. He grew strong and able and respected his the soil and creatures which fed and clothed him. However, Tyrian's red gaze kept the image of his father alive in his mother's memory, and she left her child as the man left her. For some time, Tyrian was left in the forest, alone as his mother once was, wondering why his mother and father chose to abandon all it had to offer. The question burrowed deep into his heart, and Tyrian chose to follow in their footsteps. He began studying old books and tomes his mother kept hidden, and learned the common tongue. He read the story of the first of his kind, Malin, and discovered the misfortune that was put upon him. Tyrian learned of strange trades and magic that he knew not existed. Where he once had one question, Tyrian now had many. Now a fully capable young man, he desired to learn more of the world he knew so little about. It is today that he plans to step out of the trees and into the city of his Forefathers.

What are your Character's ambitions?: He desires to learn about the world that tempted his only family from him. He wants to learn its curves and wonders and see everything has to offer.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Tyrian's father's impatience was somewhat handed down to him. No matter how much his mother instructed him in the ways of the bow, Tryian fell in love with the sword.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?: He knows what the wild offers. His knowledge about plants and animals allows him to craft his own clothes and keep him well fed, as well as how to arm himself for the hunt.

Other Information about your Character: Tyrian has an inquisitive mind, his curiosity will drive him to encounter many wonders and possibly drive him to dangerous places in hopes to make a new discovery.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? Tyrian would walk curiously towards the three men wondering what they were in fact attempting to do. He would continue to plague them with questions. "Do all people treat others this way? Why is the short one so short? Is there a reason your sword looks like a different material than mine? What is so great about money if you cant wear, eat, or kill with it? Is this this a 'crime' that I read about? Do you intend to wear the little man's hide and eat his meat if you kill him? Are little men a delicacy?" At this time, the 2 men will either turn and attack Tyrian out of sheer irritation, or have answered one of his questions how he would deem immoral, at which case Tyrian would be the first to attack them. When the men are dealt with, Tyrian would likely have more questions for the Halfling.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? When the well-dressed shop owner addresses Tyrian, he would greet him in kind. After looking at the merchant’s wares, Tyrian would question the use and function of all items that appeared alien to him. This would probably take a considerable amount of the merchant’s time. If he found an item he would be interested in, he would attempt to barter it with his own belongings. If he had learned the use of money, he would probably not be very good at bargaining a better price.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Tyrian would look closely at the foreign material. Picking up the iron bars, he would observe it shape and feel its weight. Unsure its use, he would probably bang it on the chest a couple times before placing it back where he found it. He would then turn to the sword. After checking its balance and the blade’s edge, he would like take the sword with him and placing his own sword in its place, along with a few pelts, believing he made a fair trade. (At this point, he would likely only have a cobblestone sword)

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? After coming out of the wilderness starving and greeted by some traders, Tyrian would work to barter his clothes and belongings for provisions. However, he would not part with his sword. If the traders asked for money in return for food, Tyrian would become confused and inquire about the use of such things. If he did have money on him, Tyrian would part with it eagerly, to free his burdon and to obtain things he could ACTUALLY use...

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Tyrian would approach the town guard, inquiring about the reward. If he is unfamiliar with the bounty or if he finds use for it, Tyrian will eagerly accept. If it is something that he has no interest in, Tyrian would request he be rewarded something that he could use during his travels... like bread.

Anything else you would like to say?: Tyrian is Not stupid in the slightest. In fact he is very bright, and good at heart. He was just brought up ignorant. He may continue to act as such for a long time with noone to tell him otherwise, or he may find that one generous chatty fellow that could steer him on the right path. Who knows what will become of him. =)
