Also include who you'd follow first, family, king, or clan.

Orc skulls roasting on a open fire, the influence of a King to raise one's moral, the fluffy pink wool of sheep.

Family first, then clan and lastly king. I also think dwarfen honor revolves around the idea that concession is defeat, we don't surrender or give ground, to do so is to loose thy honor.

Also isn't clan the same as family?

Well do we want honor at all? There is a lot of 'I'm better then you ,I deserves more, yadda year's.

Should become more honorful race ? Promises are stronger, backstabbing frowned, things like that ?

Older dwarves are respected more so then New dwarves and if you fight.bravely rather then like a coward....

Dwarven honor is live, fight, and drink in such a manner that would make past Dwarves (ancestors) proud. To 'obtain honor' is the process of fighting bravely, never backing down from a straight challenge, keeping solid promises and other such deeds that are talked about by Dwarves or become legendary. To 'protect honor' is to seek revenge for any slights (real or imagined), and to make sure that ancestors (especially those of your clan) are respected. Any insult to an ancestor is a grave offense and if not dealt with will result in the entire clan losing face and losing honor.

To each Dwarf honor is different. To Gulroid, his honor is tied to the clan itself. So long as the clan is seen as honorable and his ancestors are respected then he feels honor is maintained. There will certainly be Dwarves who have no honor. Gulroid would see a Dwarf having no honor if he back-stabs his clan, kills another honorable Dwarf, or betrays an honorable King.

Gulroid would first follow his Clan and then his King (Unless he felt his entire clan was being ridiculous...)

edit: Insults to respected Dwarves, such as the King, should result in every Dwarf feeling their Honor has been diminished and they should all strive to fix it. (IE when the Orcs stole the Belt, that was dishonor to all Dwarves)

A clan, in my opinion is is family, so I would follow the clan/family, then king; but the king should still be honored as the leader of the race, and not have a diminished position.

Honor, in the eyes of Phelrin, is allegence to both clan, king and kingdom. If one of these three has broken their honor with the other two, Phelrin will stand behind those to in order to maintain his honor

I think as Dwarves we need honor. I personally think it's at the core of being a Dwarf. If you want to make a stoic, stubborn, honorable character you create a Dwarf. However having honor should be totally different than running around saying 'I'm better than you, I have more honor, I deserve more.'

I really hope that as a race we become more honorable. Solid promises should be kept, and backstabbing should be frowned upon. But this should only apply to other Dwarves. A promise made to any other race should perhaps not be of the same caliber as a promise made to another Dwarf. And I think there should be different types of promises: (in order of increasing magnitude)

-Promise/oath to a non Dwarf- breaking results in no punishment just the knowledge that this person broke an oath

-Promise/oath to a Dwarf- breaking is frowned upon, leads to loss of honor

-Promise/oath to a clan member (Dwarf)- severely frowned upon, leads to extreme loss of honor

-Promise/Oath sworn in blood (BloodOath)- unbreakable without losing all honor

In response to the ideas about honor, respect, and age:

Old Dwarves should always be respected regardless of how they have behaved (honorably or cowardly). But respect is different than honor. And old Dwarf might be exceedingly honorable and respected for that. We also might have a Dwarf who say was injured early in life and did not achieve the same honorable status through fighting in combat but still has served his nation for hundreds of years. That Dwarf might not be exceptionally honorable but would certainly be entitled to respect.
