Dalek348 1962 Share Posted July 22, 2012 Added my additional ideas to the previously non-existent ideas section :] : Two companies of Halflings become stranded from each other, one group up at the mill, the other in the Drunken Sheep. They are caught unawares as the freezing weather drifts down into the Vale, freezing the Tookwater and engulfing the Vale in snow. The group in the mill will eventually battle their way through blizzards and ice to reunite with the chaps in The Drunken Sheep to recall tales of their adventures and share their experiences. The group may then well be visited by passing snowmen, who they offer a pint of Applespice Mead, however the snowman cannot physically drink the ale and thus the ale melts him away. Packs of hungry wolves can come and do all sorts of nasty business. Recently a nice hot cocoa drink has been invented in the Vale and also a music box and a lute, so we won’t be short of warmth and entertainment. Results of this event can be; damage to crops (creating further rebuilding rp after), conflict between halflings, story telling, a good old sing song, some music, frequent usage of the cocoa drink, and other general fun stuff. I noticed you were talking about building the snow up, and that made me think "What kind of damage can be done by built up snow?" The answer? Wrecked buildings! I'm not saying destroy all of the burrows or what not, maybe choose one or two, either owned by someone who volunteers their house or an empty one, and nothing big, maybe a caved in roof? it would surely make a mess, pieces of the ceiling littering the floor as well as snow. I think it would make good RP, say, after the storm everyone goes to their house to check on it, and (just putting a name here) Deputy Bili Hollowmead's roof is caved in a bit, I know if I was him, I would be mighty shocked. Lasting effects would be, instead of building new burrows for any new residents, the builders would have to help fix the broken houses, which would(could) create a greater need for new housing. Its only an idea, but i think it would be funny seeing a halfling(Bili) standing outside of his semi-caved in house, mouth agape, totally shocked like a deer in the headlights! This sounds like a very interesting idea, and I may be interested in volunteering my home, as long as it is built back to it's original state.
