A Dusty Tome...

War is the trait of Kings, not of the smallfolk in the lines. The quarrels of the rich and noble lead to the death of the poorer classes. War is an act of force, and there is no limit to that force. So, what is war? War is a policy, not an act of glory or noble conquest. All underlying means of war lie with the King or noble, whatever means they intend to bestow with the scapegoat, whether it should be famous "Purge" on Galahar, led by the dwarf, who had means of conquest over Tarus's lands and the slaughtering of Galahars serfs and commonfolk, or with the "Pheonix Rebellion", When the "King Enor the Bastard" gave up the crown and handed it too a guild leader. And how the former ranger, Grayson, strategically and methodically harnessed the people's willpower to rise against Gaius Marius. All great commanders act on instinct, and it depends whether that instinctive choice is right or wrong, it could in fact lead to the undoing of a kings kingdom, or lead to the nation gaining wealth and respect throughout the lands. War, essentially is the exact realm of danger. War is the realm of tiredness and exhaustion. War is the realm of chance. War is the idea of rapid and accurate decisions.

*Jon Norsem recieves a parcel from a breathless redfaced courier*

"Lord Norsem! Er, this, arrived? For you. Yes, arrived. For you! In the. Er, from Mireton! Yes!"

*Jon Norsem laughs, "Give it here, boy, I don't bite.." *Flashes another quick smile, and unties the cord that sealed the parcel.

*Out fell a leather book, yellow paged and dusty, light gold thread embroidered the cover, Jon Norsem reads exceprts of it, engrossed and fascinated by the amount of strategy, thought, and time that was put into this book, he notices his fathers signature, throughout the book, and cannot help but swell with pride, knowing his father wrote the book, he then settles on a blank page, and stares at it.*

Old_Book_by_villa_arts-deviantart.jpg

*He studies the blank page, while furrowing his brow, abruptly, he picks up his quill, and furiously starts writing his own version on war philosophy.*

[[i will continue this book, on an RP post, the thread will be kept active. Cheers.]]

[[ This did not come from Mireton as you do not have any claims to Mireton. If oh wanted something to. One from Mireton or from Pruvia you would have had to ask me and you have not. This is void if you think it is from Mireton ]]

(( such hostility to roleplay, italian you just inheritted Pruvia, and ICly people have lived there for longer than you've owned it, not to mention the courier could be telling a lie abouts its origin, and VAs don't apply to forum RP before you go arguing about it.

Lighten up, its a game.))

Contrary to the tome and all its previous owners, to North, in the lands of Salvus, a champion for diplomacy and peace was rising against the long lived tradition of bloodshed.

Winter shouted as she brought her falchion down into the pumpkin head of the training dummy, cleaving the soft fruit in half and burying the thin curved blade into the dummy's neck.

With a foot on her newest victim's chest a labored grunt, the short wood elf pulled her sword free and cleaned the blade of the pumpkin's pulp on her bracer before sliding the weapon in to its silver-bound sheath.

She was alone in her castle in Riven for once, and for once in a very long time, she had nothing to do. Uthor was busy in Arethor presenting her case to the Emperor and Riven had been abandonned in her previous sickness and Uthor's absence. She had not recieved any letters recently nor did she intend to send anymore until she heard back. So, she was alone, locked in her castle with nothing but time.

((Psh. Maybe Kali sent it to him because she found out it was his father's. Thus it would have to come from Mireton. Lighten up Italian, it isn't going to hurt anything.))

I have owned Pruvia for 3 characters. I burned the town the first time I took it, and the first character had problem with Jon Norsem, that ended up with him burning Jon's house in Mireton and evicting him. Maybe you should know what you're talking about before you decide to post. []

[[The mailing was from Mireton. Tryggvi Hackonsson, who is still very much alive, had possession of the book, and met the courier in MIRETON to give the book to him. Chill dude. I don;t know what I did to make you angry at me, but it sure doesn't need to be brought onto the RP forums with OOC.]]

"Concerning the Peasantry Forces in Battle"

Within peacetime, a standing army is can be quite expensive and useless, besides the taking down of rioting peasants, and the common bandits, however, when war is brought forth, it cuts down the need to raise peasants from the Lords townholds, and the lord or king now has the ability to carry on orders with disciplined troops. Not rabble such as make shift peasants armed with axes. Although the peasantry can be used in a pinch, and can keep small forces at bay in large numbers. Do not expect to win wars with them. They are loosely formed, often armed in chain or leather, and equipped with stone clubs, iron swords and axes, and occasionally the rare arming sword.

When moving peasants into battle, make sure they are kept in the middle of the ranks, as the enemy will see this as a weak point, and drive his main force into it, whilst your flanks close in, and pinch them off from any support. The main focus of doing this, is the expendablility of the rag tag mob.

"Concerning the Use of Rankers and Bannermen"

"The standard fighters, the backbone of any of Orens military force in the Empire. Bannermen are useful, most can be armed with Bastard Swords, arming swords, and hand and half swords, along with shields, axes, and the occasional bow. Bannermen should be deployed into "Units", sequencing the letters of the common text. They should be intermingled with the peasant forces, and to the flanks of them, giving the peasants the support and might to fend off any other attacks. The Bannermen should be formed into two ranks. And maintain discipline whilst marching and maneuvering. One should not overstep the other man, nor go behind the one to his back. Breaking discipline will break all confusion of who and who not the enemy is. No house is a real house until they can get there men in check, and in line.

"Concerning the use of Knight and Nobles in Battle"

Heavily armed and armoured, knights and lords of Oren go into battle with Iron plate, diamond plate, and gold or diamond weapons, they are often the leading cause to victory, and turning the tide to the battle. Refering to "Gideon's Charge" In Galahar at the battle of the Purge, the Silverblade rallied the beaten and broken knights, along with a few Phoenix Guards, and clashed into the Purges flank, breaking their spirits and their flank. Gideon ultimately routed the enemy, and saved Galahar from utter destruction. Using this tactic, The Knights, Nobility, and the Man-At-Arms should be gathered all on one flank, being called the Strong Flank in order to counter an enemy's flanking movement, or come in at the time of the dire need of peasants and Bannermen. Even with Vice versa, if the enemy is focused on your flank, the Strong flank, it will be a blunder for the enemy. The Strong Flank will be able to hold out long enough for the Rankers to crush in there sides, and seize sweet victory. The weak Flank should be made up of mercenaries, Lances, and bannermen. Strong enough to hold until the Strong flank brings aide to turn the tide.

(Strong Flank = Calvary.]]

Concerning the Use of Archers, Rangers, and Bowmen

"Skilled archers are a must in battle, yes, the unskilled bowman can hit the enemy, but not in the right places. (50+ Experience) The unskilled archer would just be wasting valuable and few arrows, whilst doing no damage to the enemy. Bowmen should be kept behind rankers, or on the "Weak" flank, or hidden and dispersed between trees and bushes. By itself, one arrow cannot harm a knight, nor even a peasant, but with concentrated fire, the foe will quickly be brought down to its knees, riddled with good feathers. The archers should then have the skill and inteligence to know WHO they should target next, advancing down the list on heaviest armour and who's second in command. Archers should be armed in Leather or chain. But nothing else, due to movement restrictions. Keep the archers spread apart, but concentrate fire into one focal point."

[[Will continue later, enjoy~

(( Perhaps you could publish the book in a google doc and place the link in the books. You could also add some diagrams or pictures. Maybe elaborate formations or defense or seige strategy as well.))
