Raptorious 1899 Share Posted July 29, 2012 Conquest: Conquest is the act of military subjugation of an enemy by force of arms. In other words it is the de jure incorporation of some territory into another geo-political entity (either adjacent or non-contiguous). Usually, it is implied that the territory and population being annexed is the smaller, more peripheral, and weaker of the two merging entities, barring physical size. Opposing Faction: The Ulfgar Clan Defending Faction: The city states of Levanthus Name of the battle: The Ulfgar Rebellion Location: must be the specific region/biome you wish to conquer: Varivik Time, (at least 5 days warning): Wednesday or Thursday. Any time between 8-11pm GMT 0. (I know its before the 5 day warning but Im getting wrist surgery on friday and will be in a cast for god knows how long afterwards. Besides this wont take up too many people’s time and shouldnt cause too much harm.) Terms: No Allies, only Levanthans (This is an internal affair.) All items are permitted. If we win, we recieve ownership of Varivik and the Ulfgars become the leading power within the city. If we lose, the remaining living Ulfgars will leave Levanthus on our last ship, before burning yours. We will be exiled, outcast and bounties may be put on our heads both within Levanthus and Oren. Rewards: Region/biome swaps ownership All loot dropped from corpses. Rp reasoning: As Valgard walks through the streets of what was once his father's city, he looks around in disgust. Mere days ago did his father, Varin Ulfgar, pass into Hjaltaron, the hall of dead heroes. Mere days ago did he join our ancestors amongst the gods. Mere days ago did the great hero of the Subudai Ulfgars, pass away. And already the people of Varivik have forgotten the great man that helped found the city. The great leader that lead the Ulfgars to glory. The great warrior that lead the strike on Skravia. The hero that saved the Subudai from the bastard Seventian traitors. All that he has done for the people of this nation, blown into the wind. Forgotten. He turns to his uncle, Delthor, with a mixture of grief for his father and anger at the people that have forgotten him so soon. “Look at them uncle. Disgusting. Its as if their hero had never died.” Shakes his head and continues to walk through the street, looking furiously as the joyous people bustling about their day to day lives, with not a care in the world. Valgard turns to the shore to board his ship, when he notices a new and ugly looking wall, erected all across his father’s shore. He looks at it in anger and looks up to see a man on it. He begins to shout at him in anger. “What is this?! Not only do you steal my father’s city but you also ruin his land with this monstrosity?! Not days has it been since I buried him and already you have done this?!” “Why are you shouting lad? Who is your father that you speak of?” Says the man on the wall. “WHO IS MY FATHER?!! Do you not even know the man that fought, bled and died to give you all a home and a city?!! You dont even know of the hero that saved Levanthus countless times over, even before it was founded!! I am Valgard Ulfgar!! Son of Varin Ulfgar!! First Syrmatae of the Subudai and the late leader of the Ulfgars, whose city this belongs to!!!” Another man walks along the wall, hearing the commotion. Blonde and dressed in fine red robes. “We do not forget who your father was. I knew him. He was a great man and I mourn his loss as well as you. I am Vladivoj Kirvel. Your father was a good friend of mine.” “If you know how great a man he was then where is our place in Varivik?! Where is the Ulfgars place?! Where is my rightful place?! We were the ones that fought and died so that it could be founded! We are the ones that drove off the Volsung!! We are the ones that fought the treacherous Seventian bastards!! We are the ones that lead an assault on the Skravians! We are the ones that should be leading this city! Not these pretenders!” Turns off with Rocco and Delthor into the city and walk into an empty house. Valgard sits on the bed, his head in his hands. Delthor leans on the wall, tired as of late and Rocco walks up and down the small wooden hut. “What am I going to do Uncle? They’ve taken everything from us. After everything our family have done.” Rocco raises his head and speaks “You know...we could simply....take it back ourselves?” “What?” “Start a rebellion. Gather all the Ulfgars once more. They have scattered since your father’s death. Raise the Ulfgar army. And when we are ready launch a strike on the city of Varivik. Take it back.” “Take back what they stole from us....put the pretenders in their rightful place and us in ours!” Valgard exclaims in excitement. Stands from the bed and reaches his arm out and grasps Rocco’s arm. “For your father.” “For the Ulfgars.” The three of them storm out of the city and begin planning their assault on the city....and in what way to warn them of their arrival..... http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/65034-a-reckoning/ ((To get in the mood: Weeks later, the armies gathered outside the ruined bandit fort, converted into a warcamp. Over the few hills, the smoke from the Varivik forge can be seen. Valgard stands atop a large chunk of rock debris on the ground. The Ulfgars notice him and stand tall, facing him. “Over that hill! Is the city of Varivik! The city, that my father! THat all of you! Fought! And died for!! Over that hill! Is our rightful home!! But now! Instead of us, the ones who bled for it! Instead of us, living and feasting in it!! It is filled with pretenders! It is filled with the scum that stole the land from us!! They sit there! Feasting in OUR hall!! Drinking OUR ale!! Living on OUR land!! Now are we going to let them keep what does not belong to them?!!” The ground almost shakes as the warband shouts “NO!!” “Are we sheep?!! Or are we wolves?!!!” The force begins to chant “Ulf! Ulf! Ulf! Ulf! Ulf! Ulf! Ulf!” “Who are we?!!!!” The warband draw all their war axes and swords and raise them in the air and chant, “ULFGAR! ULFGAR! ULFGAR! ULFGAR!” “NOW GO MY BROTHERS! MY SISTERS!! GO NOW AND CLAIM BACK WHAT IS OURS!! AND TONIGHT!! WE FEAST IN OUR HALL!!!” The hornblowers begin to blow the low sounding horn of the Ulfgars, as they march on Varivik. Turns to his Uncle Delthor and Rocco. “Tonight. Gather round, men of Varivik! There they are, outside our settlement, a band of fierce and mindless Ulfgars, who want to take YOUR city!They want to burn YOUR homes!They will follow their leader, even to death!So I say, let's make their journey to their graves quicker!Oh, they will enter this city!They will enter it, with their limbs broken, with their lifeless and headless bodies piling up on the pyre!I shall put down this rebellion, even if I have to give my own head for it!
