The fires of a pyre burn before his eyes. This man, normally so stubborn and outspoken, is now silent. Staring to the burning pyre, he focuses on the flames, watching as they lick at the doused wood. The screams of the woman go unnoticed to him, his grip on reality gone. He is blinded the flames; how its center seems endless and flowing. The orange and red glow of the fire blow precariously in the wind, its embers flying upwards with the rising smoke.

As the fire dies down, and the coarse shouts of the woman dissipate, the man heads off, speaking minimally as he heads to his private quarters. The head of the once proud man droops low and the strong dark eyes now show flares of weakness and despair. He reaches his quarters, plodding into the bedroom and moving for a chest unlike his others. The chest bears no real significance, but the item inside does. He opens the chest slowly, bringing up a crudely stitched, muddy tabard; a white rose is emblazoned onto its front, and the size is fit more for a child than a man of his size. He lays it across his bed, kneeling before it. His elbows meet the mattress, his hands clasp together, and his forehead touches his clasped thumbs. He closes his eyes, remaining silent and still for a few moments, remembering and regretting; reconciling and forgetting. He had lost almost all that was dear to him, and his anger caused others to lose as well. His silent position was soon broken by the shed of a tear. Another fell, and then a sniffle, and finally he broke down. Tears ran down his cheeks and he curled over, heaving between breathes as he tried to keep as silent as possible. It was a breaking point for the strong man, but he would never allow it to show.

And so he cried. He cried for himself, his friends, and his mother.

He cried because there is no one else.

[[ Hey now, we are Holy Knights, and the First Chaplain of the Inquisitors AND the Archbishop were there. I'd say that's enough approval. ]]

Knight Commander Peter Chivay sniffs the air as he awakes, "What the...?" Having no prior knowledge of what had transpired. Moving down the stairs to the court-yard, Peter glances around in confusion; "What the hell did eh' miss..."
