Anyone who knew that the Elf had went to The Vale, would realize that Damen was taking an awfully long time to return, and his belongings were still there, also. Instead of returning, the elf was, in fact, dead.

His body, on the dinner table of a Kharajyr was being devoured. An Elf that had only wanted to find his place in life, was ended before he even lived.
