Bradshaw Shipyards

In a room over looking the sea, Sean Bradshaw sits in a padded chair behind an old desk piled with papers and ledgers. A salt air breeze passes through the open window and lightly ruffles some papers. Sean doesn't mind, he's always loved the sea. Many of the wrinkles and sun-spots on his aged face he proudly wears as marks of days spent on the ocean. Through the window he can see the newly commissioned 50-gun warship Peacekeeper.

Meticulously designed and built by Bradshaw Shipyard. The shipyard had been long planned and finally completed under the oversight of Sean and his son Kyle Bradshaw. Just yesterday they had celebrated the completion of their first capital ship. A joint venture of father and son, blacksmith and carpenter.

Sean Bradshaw shakes off the thoughts of the ship and his son and finishes the document in front of him, signing with a flourish. Kyle enters soon after.

"The Swordfish is ready for sea father. Is the announcement ready?"

Sean stands up, slowly working the creaks out of his bones, and passes the sealed document to his son.

"It is, do as we've discussed, have it copied and distributed. Meet with anyone interested in our services."

Sean walks around the desk and claps his son on the shoulder.

"Travel safe my son. May you find fair winds and a following sea."

Kyle smiles at the phrase his father has long used and embraces his father, then carefully stows the sealed document in his satchel.

"I'm sure the Swordfish will find any fair winds that are to be had. I'll send word of any contracts. Take care father."

Sean nods and watches his son retreat from the room and later watches the Swordfish depart from his window. The ship drops her bright sails, snapping taught as they fill with wind. Before long she's cutting a foaming trail out of the bay and rounds the point, out of sight.

A document written in perfect script and embellished with painted scenes of the shipyard and the Peacemaker can be seen in all the great gathering places of Asulon. Perhaps you may have even seen a fellow in a green sea cloak with gold trim posting them near you. If you take the time to examine the document, you see the following:

Bili wanders aimlessly about, before discovering the flyer that speaks of these wondrous Bradshaw ships. His eyes twinkle as he looks at the majestic vessels, and he thinks about the stories his father used to read to him.

"Say, those were good stories..."

(Really cool, I haven't seen this done before. Bravo.)

(Also, for seriously interested individuals I can arrange tours of the ship and facility. I'm working on opening a ship for quick travel to the location so folks can check it out. I'll even need to be hiring some additional workers if we get more contracts.)

*While walking through the Cloud Temple Docks, Casimir grabs hold of a flyer sputtering through the air. Smoothing out the wrinkles, he reads the note. His eyes light up at the sight of the name. Reading the rest of the note, he shoves it into his pocket and heads off for home. Sitting at his desk later that evening, he pulls out some fine parchment stamped with his family crest and a quill. Dipping the quill in ink, he carefully begins to write.*

To my old friend Sean Bradshaw,

It is a pleasure to see your name. I hope you have done well over these years, aswell as your kin. I hope that the ship building business has done you some good too. I write to you in request of an apprenticeship to you. As you may know, I am a fine builder and architect. My daughter Gwendolyn has a love for the sea, and has some of my traits in building. She is only fifteen, and I wish for her to get a start on a career. I would like to apprentice her to you, so she may learn the trade of a shipwright. Please, send me a letter and we may talk more about the matter.

With hopes,

Casimir Amedaius II

An ugly raven flies towards the gates of Arethor. The raven drops a note infront of the gates and proceeds to peck on one of the guard's helmets, signaling that it needs to be fed. The guard sighs and picks up the note, reading it. He grunts and beings to look around for Kyle Bradshaw, attempting to deliver the scraggly written letter to Kyle.

Dear Kyle Bradshaw

I am writing to enquire on the price you would charge for a medium sized boat, much smaller then the one shown in your picture. Reply fast, I lack much patience.

Sincerely,

Scylla.
