EboBren' 87 Share Posted November 23, 2012 We should make a chess-like game with this. Probably just for OOC fun, but who knows, it might come up in RP. That said, it would probably be hunted down my nobles.
Eddywilson2 2117 Share Posted November 23, 2012 Great post though Kais. I agree about the nobles (including me :( ). I just want to add it isn't only nobles. I have seen a lot of soldiers doing the same thing. Great post

Great post Well I think soldiers mostly compete for rank and for the favor of their liege but they don't do as much as nobles do in their little game, thank you for your compliment though! :)
Eddywilson2 2117 Share Posted November 23, 2012 I agree, but I have an example. A few weeks ago Henry Therving was attacked by a assassin. I jumped in and fought the assassin. Two Oren Marshals (who I won't name) stepped in, and we managed to arrest him. At the cell the prisoner put in a little resistance. Nothing more just a little shove. The marshals soon jumped in and killed the man. The man rightly asked if he could keep his things ooc. I agreed, but the marshals demanded for his diamond sword with different ooc threats. Now I won't pretend I was completely the good guy so I didn't speak up much. Finally, they got the sword and killed the man. Hurriedly they ran off. Later on I caught up to them and asked what they were going to do with the diamond sword. I saw earlier that he had one of his own. They said they were going to keep it, but I suggested they give it to the Lances or something so they could look good since they already had one. Immediately they grew hostile and circled around me. Luckily, I walked away but was shocked by there greed. Even ooc I knew the the assassin was just giving us a good time. This is an example of the greed of lesser nobility. Knightei 318 Share Posted November 24, 2012 Incredibly well put Kais, however, if you've ever read the Riftwar Chronicles by Raymond E. Fiest, one of the races on that has a game much like this, but on a much more extreme scale. On one of the offshoots of this series of books, the Empire Trilogy, and entire noble family is slaughtered in an attack, but they're rivals come in and win for their side moments afterwards. And to note on Parizal's comment about soldiers also playing the game, they really, really are. As one of them is me. Indeed the Emperor is the only true player... But what if he dies? Then many pawns become players in their own rights. But nevertheless your theory is correct slightly, but I think not as extreme as you've said (from what I've seen that is). But gratz on writing this!

Z3r05t4r 855 Share Posted November 27, 2012 To bring my opinion to a mere single word of which the meaning is positive and clearly understandable: Agreed. An adequate summary of the game of politics. And, a hint to where every man and woman stands in the Empire.
