[repost] VA Purge and Minor App info

This is just a repost of the purge notice and major VA changes. Nothing has changed, just putting in the Server News and Maintenance section so it can be taken down from the VA section. The minor app stuff will also be filtered into the rules thread.

As of 5pm est today, Sunday November 25th, the purge will go into full effect and the accepted apps before October will be moved into an archive.

The blacklisted and revoked lists will disappear as well around this time as well. This being said if you were blacklisted / revoked you have the ability and chance to get a VA again.

As mentioned before all the redone accepted VA's are safe at this time as well, seeing as you are past the October 1st deadline now.

Purge Post Information

This is not a new idea, this concept was brought up originally when swapping from the AV to the current format. Only difference is now the VAT has the manpower to go through with it.

Going to semi overhaul the system in itself. Making some of the evils itself into its own branch, which I will post the redone system at the end of all this. I went ahead and ran a google doc poll through the VAT already and had a unanimous vote for we should do a purge, with everyone voting that we should purge. Nobody had voted no at all.

The only downside to a purge of VA's is the guaranteed rage that will ensue. Most of the people with current VA's are pretty much frequent applicants as is. SO most will not complain, but will be a minor inconvenience to them. But there will be some more outspoken then others.

The benefit of a purge would be archiving or just moving all current VA's accepted or denied to dead threads and do a complete fresh start. This makes finding people's VA's easier, whether for GM's or players. It would make all the VA's up to date. It would clear out the VA's of dead characters, banned players, or people that left the server all together. In the end it would make organization alot more probable. It would make searching for VA's easier instead of sifting through the army VA's already in action, as some people have multiple VA's for multiple characters. So even if you searched the forum by the MCname you could bring up a handful of different VA's for that player, that could just be completely irrelevant to the situation they would need to look for it. This would also discourage people from bringing dead characters back, and already having a VA set in motion, where as they could just simply say that he never died, but merely went missing.

Long story short All the VAT that voted said they were for the purge. Several GM's / Admins voted for it. Nobody is against it in anything posted to the two teams. Fact is my team is big enough now to take the workload of everyone reapplying. So on that terms it is easily viable to do the purge and have everyone up and running as soon as possible.

Also so people can stop generalizing themselves saying they have an evil and using it to fully do everything labeled for the category, instead of what they initially applied for. It will get people to think more about what they are going for and the reason their character may need it.

VA's posted from October 2012 on, are fine, you do not need to redo it.

From now there is a 2 week window to grab your old apps, and you can go in there and grab your own app. From then it will be archived and a VAT member can actually fetch out the of the archive.

Major VA change log.

Okay so the few VAT that were on for this discussion have decided some big changes. We have come to an agreement that we are aiming for more enjoyable RP situations. We are trying to make things less restricted for the general player base. Thus we have decided to change a big portion of the VA itself. We wish to make things easier for everyone, much less restricted, to help RP flow without everyone always asking if someone has a VA.

This being said this is the evil list, the *'s mean the references needed, as they have meant this before.

1a thievery / cheating - Self explanatory. Cheating must not abuse game mechanics, you may not lie or cheat out of character.

****1b lock-picking / breaking & entering / jail-breaking - Lock-picking is done, /modreq, proper RP of lock-picking, and a successful roll of over 15 with a /roll 20. The GM will then poke in the chest and take some things and throw them to you. (Sidenote - GM's may throw in a bit of rp at you so provide a conflict of sorts, whether it be RP'ing as guards / animals. Also keep in mind it is encouraged to lockpick in a building that the owner is online, to give a chance of getting caught.)

**2a .Murder Type A - Assassinations, Murdering when unprovoked. (Side note - you do not need a VA to hire an Assassin)

***2b Murder Type B - Killing for pleasure, cannibalism, twisted ways of killing (weird fetishes, poison)

****2c Torture, Slaving - (Side note - You do not need 2c to own or purchase a slave. You do need it however to break or sell.)

3 Unholy Worship / Religous Zealotry - Worshiping in a way that may be deemed unholy or as zealotry. This covers Sacrificing or murdering in the name of your deity (Sidenote - You do not need this to worship Iblees, but you do if your worship pushes you to do "villainous" activity)

4a Chaos / Deception / Conning - Purposefully creating chaos such as starting riots, rebellions, violent protests.(Sidenote - you can attend and participate in riots/rebellions/violent protests it is merely up to the lead instigator(s) to have a VA for this)

4b Corruption - Political corruption, or otherwise enticing corruption via bribes or other means.(Sidenote- you do not need a VA to accept bribes, but you do need one to do the bribing)

*****5 Psychopathy - Insanity, Split Personalities, Uncontrollable Actions (Side note - This means if you have a disorder that makes you act in a villainous way. Like say your calm one moment, and your disorder flairs up and you all of a sudden want to kill the closest person to you.)

And note how they do not have *'s at all. You may be confused and think this is a typo. But I assure you it is no typo. Evils 1a, 3, 4ab no longer need any references. Nor do they need a VA at all anymore. You may still make an app for them, they are still selectable evils. And if an app comes through with just those, it will pretty much be a free ride through. But if you make a VA for say evils 1ab, 2ab 3, 4. The evils 1a, 3, and 4 will not play any factor in making your VA any harder to get. Thus meaning it should be easier overall for people to get VA's to go through.

I will still say I myself prefer a va be made for 1a, 3, 4ab. Merely for documentation purposes though. So I will be making a brief app for minor evils. I will say the term app very lightly as it will not be anything of substantial size at all.

Subtle changes - You no longer need a VA to beat a slave, but you still need one to break, sell, or torture them. Beating a slave back in line is not torturous, it is basic nature of slavery.

I'm not totally sure this is the case for anyone, but what if someone has posted a VA to update their old VA and it has not been reviewed yet. Can they continue being evil until their VA is actually reviewed, seeing as they made the deadline in posting it.

You need to create a new Villain Application if you wish to use 1b, 2abc, or 5 after the purge. If you use the other evils, we prefer you create a Minor Evils Application to document that you'll be using them.
