The current island is of a good size, why on earth you would propose we spread out and probably double this size is beyond me. We're already downsizing from Asulon to 3.0 because we found that larger isn't better... smaller is better when it comes to roleplaying within minecraft, as has been proved many a time, so option 3 it is.

The map is never the problem, it's the way we shape it and our RP in it.

Seeing as how many people complain about settlements, I can only guess that some people just don't care about others, and just don't wanna loose.

And what happened to good old fashioned war and conflict? Why is there no fighting?

We have not decided that smaller is better, we have decided that smaller than Asulon is better. 3.0 is still bigger than Aegis, as we have found the correct medium between size and RP. However, the current 2.5 map is VERY tiny, it's about the size of Laurelin alone. I specifically name Laurelin as the size of the island was modeled after that city in particular. Essentially we're cramming the entire population of LotC into a single city-sized island. If you think that adding another island that will most likely be the eventual ONLY island (assuming Elysium is abandoned and we get rid of it), then you'll HATE 3.0.

So I have to assume 3.0 map will be damn large, considering Elysium is the size of one town.

Well, here comes Asulons problems already.

I think your problem is that you are drawing lines that should not be crossed, way too close to your comfort zone.

Asulon was a bigass place, I hardly found RP, but when I did it was enjoyable

(Lol, that's good.. Going in my signature). Aegis was smaller, but it will be larger than that. And in that, you obviously aren't paying attention to what Alan is saying.

I don't care at all what they do, just as long as whatever they do end up doing, it will bring them one step closer to finishing 3.0

And with that being said, read what Alan has to say completely, and don't be an ignorant ass (Not that you are one, just at the moment you are being one)

Here is my take on this

People don't have land, so they want a new island to claim land, where as the people who do have actual land(like myself) don't want to leave because they will lose their hard work. I say, we add a new but smaller Island where you can't gather resources, or can gather very few, but still keep Elysium. I like the idea of a two way ferry, but having to pay some sort of money or service to cross it. I also like the idea of say, the island being on the same map, just worldpainted into it so it is accessable via bridge or basic MC boats(although that may be un-rply). With a smaller second island, people will settle on it but still come to Elysium. I also think that the landscape should be cleaned up(have orcs pillage and tear down non-sanctioned towns or mansions) and also clean up volcanoes, hell biomes, etc. This will encourage people to stay on Elysium, still keeping it a hub for RP. As to the spreading out RP, limitations can be placed on per say, the resources that are able to be obtained on the new map, keeping land squatters at bay.

This is just my opinion, feel free to critique it or add suggestions

The reason we are keeping Elysium at all instead of just completely going to a new island is purely due to the OOC feedback of a many players, although it can only go so far. Keep in mind that Elysium is supposed to RPly be a temporary landing spot and it is hostile, so if you don't want to go to another island because you are too "comfortable" on a map such as this, then I'm sorry to say that I don't think you're doing it right! :P

If anything, you should RPly be jumping at the soonest opportunity to get off of this island, especially seeing as the next island will be much less chaotic (which I alluded to in my OP). Also keep in mind that your hard work will go to waste anyways when we go to 3.0 because obviously you can't keep the land on Elysium, so there's really no difference between then and now.

My problem is that there is too much room and not enough players at the times when I can join. Because of that, I could not find ANY RP.

If Elysium is the size of one town, then I have to assume that the rest of the map will be pretty much 3-4 times bigger. Bigger does not mean better.

If you gonna go for the ignorant ass thing, you might aswell try harder, as you don't know **** about my comfort zone.

It is actually really easy to find people on Elysium, just spend 10 minutes or so looking around, you will find that finding other people and good RP is easy.

Also, your timezone isn't the only timezone in the world, do you think the peek times will enjoy being crammed into a city? Think of the needs of others please.

As if Elysium is so small, everyone is having a huge problem fitting on it.

The timezone wouldn't be an issue if it weren't for two things:

1) It's GMT+02. By the time people start waking up, it's somewhere around midnight for me. I got better things to do than waste time chasing wild geese.

2) There doesn't seem to be alot of people pulling an all-nighter, which is understandable. Perhaps more European players could balance the lack out.

From my experience, the current island is of a good size, whether it be 'small' compared to other maps or not, it's a good size when it comes down playability and that is what should matter overall. It's too convenient to compare with other past or future maps, because really, we don't care how large or small it is compared to them, we care about how well we can play on it.

In my opinion the important factors are, 1. Travel time, 2. City size/number of and 3. Amount of wilderness (ideally quite a bit). 2 of which are represented well in the current island.

And with regards to 3.0, I am on the dev server so I know what to expect and still my opinion stands that it is too bloody big.
