Alan 1815 Share Posted January 6, 2013 Hey guys, Not too long ago, a news thread was created asking for feedback on the current 2.5 island and suggestions for a possible future island. The response was very spread out, many different people wanted many different things. Some players offered many unique ideas for how the next island should be introduced and made, while quite a few suggested not having another island at all and staying on the current one. For this reason, I offer a compromise that will hopefully suit both sides. Rather than completely transferring maps like we did for the first island (Leaving Asulon completely and going to Elysium), the idea is to have another nearby island discovered and then we will set up fast travel between the two. This new island will be made to the players' OOC specifications based on the feedback provided, and those who wish to go may do so, while those who do not want to switch can always stay. Depending on the response by the players, after a week or so we may (or may not) get rid of the current map if everyone has settled into the new one. Keep in mind that the development of this next island, if it is made, will NOT take any time away from the finishing of 3.0, so do not have any worries in that regard. The island has not been planned, as we do not even know if there will be a next island yet, so do not interpret this post as an announcement for things to come. Currently, some things that will likely occur with this next island are that it won't be a single island but instead a cluster of small islands, it won't be as mob-heavy and environmentally dangerous (AKA no more volcano RP!), and it will be better set up to stick to how RP would go rather than a new (probably half made) settlement popping up every hour. So, this begs the obvious question, what are your thoughts? Do you think this is a good compromise? I have added a poll where you can decide if we should go with this plan, stay as we are now, leave completely, or "other" (If you pick this you should leave a response with another solution or compromise). Thanks again everyone for the continued patience, and I look forward to your responses! EDIT: Forgot to add the poll! Silly me :)
Zarsies 6795 Share Posted January 6, 2013 I think the compromise would work out, sating everyone's wants to a degree...
Shadeleaf 1021 Share Posted January 6, 2013 I feel for all those who wish to stay on the current island, yet I also see the need for expansion and more origination This compromise is very well placed and [as long as we can ferry out items over], should be implemented for 2.5.2. :}
ΚΨΙΞ 710 Share Posted January 6, 2013 I think we should leave Elysium and go to the new island, if we where to link up fast travels it would spread out RP.
CommunistSpy 441 Share Posted January 6, 2013 I like the compromise as well, it seems to have pleased all parties. I would like to see a "transfer" of sorts - everyone moving to the next island. I think 2 islands that require fast travel might cut the players in half. It might be nice if we could access it via minecraft boat, however.
MetaSolaray 242 Share Posted January 6, 2013 Personally I think this is very fine, I've worked hard on making my little estate and was rather bummed to hear it'd all be going away ;o
Kaiser 2347 Share Posted January 6, 2013 This would spread out the roleplay... Why can't we just go to new islands for say, a month only, then leave?
ΩMercenΩ 67 Share Posted January 6, 2013 I honestly strongly dislike Elysium and have been barely even logging on. I hate how everyone settled and built mansions, and I don't like the messy area the lava has now made it. It's full of un-rp builds, and is frankly just an eyesore to look at. Plus, having two islands at one time would just spread EVERYTHING out, and there's no need. Let's go to the new island, start fresh, and have everything make rp sense this time.
cruzazul 2815 Share Posted January 6, 2013 The problem I have with this idea is that it will spread out rp a lot. With half the player base on one island and the other half on another we will not have the centralized rp we are all looking for. I would much rather either stay on the current island till 3.0 or move to a new island and leave the current one. I wouldn't want to see us torn between two things and limit our rp drastically.

Alan 1815 Author Share Posted January 6, 2013 This would spread out the roleplay... Why can't we just go to new islands for say, a month only, then leave? I disagree. The whole reason this compromise was made was that one party didn't want to leave Elysium at all, which is why we aren't. At the moment, RP is very compact, much more so than it was in Aegis or Asulon, so another island would actually disperse it more naturally. Also, we won't allow 50+ settlements and half built structures to appear on the next island (if there is one), so it won't be as thinly spread as it is now on Elysium. Of course, a new island will take interest to the majority, so eventually the rest will follow and we may (or may not) completely get rid of Elysium. EDIT: Also, I'm guessing that the nations themselves will go to the new island, and it will become the next "centralized RP" location, and Elysium will remain as the "badlands" almost due to the high mob spawns and dangerous terrain. Wizard 125 Share Posted January 6, 2013 I like the idea. Especially, since it would make no sense for most of the people to stay on Elysium when the volcano has erupted.
º Gamer9726 º 6 Share Posted January 6, 2013 I also think that the nations should move onto the new island so that it will become the main "hub" for RP, while Elysium becomes a "badlands" type of place. This should allow for relatively centralized RP, while still allowing players to go to Elysium if they really want to. Perhaps the mob spawn rate can be increased, or some of the terrain made inhabitable by more volcano eruptions.
Hwaldar 132 Share Posted January 6, 2013 Leave the nobles in Elysium and let the rest of us hobos go to the next island A compromise that would REALLY suit everyone. well, atleast everyone who hate nobility.
the GOAT of the craft 606 Share Posted January 6, 2013 If people are worried that adding two small islands will spread out RP then they'll despise 3.
