Definitions
In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!:

Role-playing: Playing with one's character and interacting with others via various acts, or dialog.  This is similar to writing a book or taking on a different persona for the duration of the roleplay.

Meta-gaming: Taking OOC information and using for your own gain, for example I see someone outside of my place via name tag.  This causes me to break through the wall and confront them, when there was no IC knowledge of him being near me.

Power-emoting:  This is essentially god modding, I make everyone's actions go my own way, instead of just dodging a arrow, I can make it so they trip up, fall on their face, and I walk away without any issues.

In-Character Information:
Complete the following biography on your character:

Full Name: Sylvel Keya
Current Age: 160
Sub-race (if any): Wood Elf
Past / History:  In the city of Malinor, two wood elves by the name of Sheera and Faelyn were blessed with a child after years of failure. This child blessed upon them was a girl, with brown hair and hazel eyes.  Her skin was that of fine chocolate powder, with lips like amber dust.  This girl was named Sylvel.  She would grow up to be a blessing and a even a curse in her own way.

Within the first 10 years of her life she caused mild havoc in the house.  Hiding her parents stuff, teasing the household slave, which was a human that her father was given as a gift when it was a child.  Yet her father accepted the child, and raised it similar to a pet, giving the child food and shelter.  It was twisted, they knew, but if they where to "put down” or “re-home” the pet, they would be at risk of angering high elves.  Their wrath was something they wanted desperately to avoid.

Although she caused trouble at an early age in the house, soon she grew out of that child-like phase and became extremely belligerent. Due to her sharp tongue she had a tendency of getting into difficult situations in her 50's.  This usually ended up with a few upset guards bringing her back home with a rather sorry look etched upon her face.  It wasn't usually anything extreme, she usually would just get into a word battle with someone she shouldn't, causing a ruckus and getting “escorted” home for it.  As she was still young, many of the other elves took pity on her and allowed her to avoid any serious punishment.

This often brought dishonor to her family, who were often at wit’s end from trying to find something to keep her out of trouble.  Eventually, much to her parents glee, she found a way to relieve her pent up stress.  This turned out to be her toying with the garden outside of the house.  She enjoyed getting dirty, playing with the plants, and then nurturing them.  It was her calling, and eventually in her 120's, she found herself longing to leave and be free from the confines of the city.  It just wasn't as enjoyable as the gardens she loved so much  Finally, she gave up trying to fit in with the society her parents were so drawn into.  She swore to herself that she would leave, and later that year, she talked to her parents, this was one of the last times she would see them. With a hug and kiss to both her parents, Sylvel left from the place she had called home in order to live in the forests far to the east.

In those forests, she was able to find a small area that suited her needs more than enough.  She settled down building a small house in a large tree, making sure not to damage it too much and to allow the flow of water to continue.  Sylvel always made sure to never leave a tree hurting, or a plant near death. For the next 37 years that is how she lived, living off of the land and only hurting what she needed to survive.  Eventually Sylvel realized that the area was starting to get crowded with other beings, feeling like she had to keep an eye over her shoulder more than she should.

She would travel Elysium in search of a new forest, hoping to find something that would suit her more than the last place she had lived in.  After a few months of searching Sylvel finally found a forest that held a perfect tree, she would make a new home out of it.  This tree was surprisingly larger than the last one allowing her to make a cozy space without doing too much damage to the tree.  Carefully she worked on it for the next month, meticulously removing small parts and watching how the tree adapted to what she was doing.  Finally when she was done she moved in and labeled this new place home.
Ambitions for the Future:  To continue to live in peace with the trees, without any interruptions from outside sources, along with possibly learning magic.
Personality:  Sylvel has a fiery personality.  Calm and peaceful until poked at in which case she is known to give people a earful.  Though its once in a blue moon that she would ever resort to a smack or any physical attack.  She believes the trees and the forest are like a family, and with great sadness will she kill an animal or a plant for food.
Skills:  Archery, herbalism, tanning, bartering, cooking.
Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin)

____

1. As you walk through the deep forests you hear the sound of whispering and snickering. Upon inspection you realize that a group of High Elves are mocking a small Wood Elf child. How do you react?

Answer:  The trees stood high in the forest. They were well kept, and growing without any major faults, no invasive species tried to overtake the forest, the foliage was semi thick but not strangling so.  As the sun began to rise a hidden door opened from one of the many large trees, spitting out an elf.  Brown hair fell across hazel eyes, as Sylvel began to walk through the forest, her green clothes holding close to her body in the humid temperature. lately, it had been rather hot.  However soon she started to hear voices, voices that were cruel and didn’t belong there.  Sylvel stopped in her tracks and whipped her head around before turning to the voices and heading in that direction.  Something told her she didn’t want to know what was going on, but she continued until she saw three High Elf children picking on a Wood Elf.

Sylvel hissed between her teeth before stalking over and scooping the Wood Elf into her arms, holding the child to her breast.  “You should be more careful, a couple seconds more and it might not have been you who was born, infact a day later you might have been a half breed or so I heard.”  She snapped to what seemed the leader of the children, before looking at another.
“I thought High Elves prided themselves on their family and bloodline.  They shouldn’t need to tease others to get your self-esteem higher.”

“Shut up, you're as low as that child that clings to you!”  Snapped the High Elf leader to Sylvel who raised an eye.

“What would your parents say if I brought you to the nearest town and handed you to the nearest Sentinel, and told them that you picked on a wood elf far away from where you should be?  You think they would be happy, maybe they're in the Council would you like to bring shame to them?”  One of the children tapped the leaders sleeve and Sylvel knew that she had hit a sore spot.  With that she turned to the direction of the nearest elf settlement cradling the child close to her as she began to move, planning on bring the child to his house.

2. Whilst wandering through the Elven forests you come across a frail old man with a walking stick. He collapses in front of you, falling to the ground with a sharp thud. Out of his pocket falls a small pouch of gold coins, which hits the ground and splits open spreading coins across the pathway. The man lies there, defenseless - what do you do?

Answer:  Syvel walked on the beaten path, carrying a bundle of furs on her back; they had been properly preserved and were ready to be sold to a merchant.  She had collected these over the last few months of hunting.  She didn’t need the furs and figured she should sell them. It made sense.  She didn’t really need the money, but she didn’t want good furs to go to waste.  She continued quietly before seeing an old, withered man walking towards her.  She was about to smile and wave to him, however before she could, the man fell at her feet.  Coins scattered around him as he fell to the ground and laid there. He must have been on his way home after going to town.

Sylvel sighed to herself softly before kneeling down and checked his breathing; satisfied that he was alive, she picked up the coins around him.  This way he wouldn’t have it stolen if someone else walked past him.  Then she put it back in his pocket before sitting down and trying to wake the man up.  Eventually, he woke up and seemed stunned at his surroundings, though it didn’t look like he really knew what happened.  “You passed out sir.  I just stayed here to make sure you were ok.”  Sylvel said, softly before helping him up and handing him back his walking stick . “Please sir, be careful on your way back home.”  she said, before turning her back and walking on her way.  Hoping he would get home safely. However, she had to get the town before it was too late; she was hoping to get the furs sold before the end of the night.

3. Whilst traversing the Elven Woodlands, you come across a small clearing in which a colored carriage sits. A trader stands outside of it and calls you over, telling you of his wares. He points out that his carriage sells just about everything, and that he's willing for you to haggle for a price. What does your character do? (Please include:- item, haggling for prices and the discussion involved).

Answer: Sylvel walked back on the road towards her home. She had sold the furs to the merchant in town the other day and now was on her way back. She had a fair amount of gold from the high quality of the furs.  Something however, caught her attention: a yellow carriage that sat in a clearing   Tilting her head, Sylvel watched the man who was waving towards her.

“Miss, surely you would like something I have.”  shouted the man to her,. She could see a grin on his face, so sighing softly to herself she walked over.  Though it was not like she needed money, she just hadn’t wanted to waste good furs, and this way if she used some of it her purse would be less heavy.  She stopped in the front of the carriage and looked at some of the items he had: a ring, some necklaces, a few rolls of expensive silk, and even some books.  However, what really caught her attention was bag of various seeds and bulbs.  The merchant, playing upon what he could tell about her race and the direction of her eyes ,instantly picked up on what she was looking at.

“Ah, a fine choice miss, these are from the orc lands, they're actually quite hard to get a hold of.  I will give them to you for 20 minas. “  he said, a price obviously too high for the merchandise.
This caused Sylvel to shake her head violently.  “Oh is the price too high?”  He said in a sweet voice.  She knew this was a barterer.  He had picked that high of a price hoping to eventually get a good deal.

“Sir.   I will give you 1 mina for that whole thing.”  Sylvel said in a matter of fact voice, this was how bartering would work.

“That is way too low for these beautiful seeds, what about 15 minas?”  He raised an eyebrow.

“2 mina.”  Sylvel responded, and the merchant looked hurt.

“But my dear lady, surely you know the value of these seeds, what about 12 minas?”

Sylvel sighed acting like she was annoyed, this was how the game was played and she would play it.  “I really wouldn’t like to argue with a merchant, what about 5 minas?”  The merchant’s eyes seemed like they would fall out of his head.  Sylvel knew it for the act it was, some people would have gone with the 12, however she knew that it was worse less than that.

“But my dear lady, the lowest I could go is 9 minas otherwise I would make no profit.”  He tried to plead with her, another falsehood.

“Sir, I will give you 7 mina and thats it.”  Sylvel said pretending she was about to leave.

The merchant pretended to wipe a tear away and breathed in deeply.  “If you must be so cruel than I will accept 7 minas, please though tell your friends about this place.  I would love to get some more customers before I leave at the end of the week.”  He said as Sylvel counted out the money and handed it to him.  The merchant took the money and handed her the bag a glint in his eyes that said he still made a decent profit.

“Thank you sir, of course I will.”  Sylvel said, not informing him that she prefered to live alone.  And with that she turned away and left, the bag slung across her shoulder.

An amazing application, especially for a first attempt! It's my pleasure to accept you. You've made a character with a well written backstory and it's obvious to me that you know your stuff! Though the Minecraft Forums didn't allow you to post, it's not a major problem. Being unable to post is a common problem that a few people suffer, so I can let it slide seeing as you tried.

With that said, welcome to Lord of the Craft! Please wait patiently for a Global Moderator (GM) to whitelist you. After that, your adventure can begin!

Have fun!
