The City Names

I'm going to come right out and say it. All the city names we have in our poll are terrible.

Orka'Goi?

Really?

It sounds terrible. 

 

The sense behind this is 'Oh well its a direct translation.' Who gives a damn.

San, if I remember correctly, would be a rough translation of home or den, however, outside the Orcs, whose really going to know a translation directly?

 

In Aegis, none of us gave a damn, most people didn't even know that Strigzgoi translated to War City in Asulon.

 

San'Jezal and Sanhar were not direct translations but they worked for us as Orcs. 

 

So, since I cannot comment on the other one, I'll make this post. 

 

San'Maj

San'Orka

San'Rum

 

Has a bit better of a ring to it than: 

Maj'Goi

Orka'Goi

Rum'Goi?

 

I personally am for any city name that doesn't have Goi in it unless theres a San in front of it. 

 

 

 

Another thing with the 'SAN' prefix is that it has been apart of our history since Aegis and apart of the Ancient lore. 

 

We have used it for all our old clan cities:

San'Dom

San'Rax

San'lur

 

What happened to it?

We just magically abandoned it?

It was apart of our culture and when somebody said 'SAN' whatever they knew it was Orcish.

If the orc considers the city his/her home they should use San instead of Goi but if they don't consider the city their home they should use Goi.
