A Call For Rebirth, Not Reform

My fair lliran of all walks of life. Be it of the forests, the cities, caverns or even lands beyond that of Malinor. The time has come to usher in reason, among this flurry of pointless circled argument.

 

 

There is no compromise among any of you.

 

And so I shall allow you a chance to see my propositions of renewal. My propositions of change and rebirth among these demands of usurping and disbandment. You radical reformers demand a new council. I propose something completely new. Something productive.

With the current High Council, you have no progress. I have seen that now, and I feel shamed to have defended them for even this long. I give you the seeds to plant a new council. A new government for a new age seems suiting, after all. Do not shy away from it. If you protect our current ways, you protect only those who sit upon the High Council. This is only further evident when they will risk imminent war upon our forests. For naught, besides their own security of power.

 

The Positions of High Council

 

 

 

The High Prince or Princess- An attempt to remain somewhat planted in traditions. This position will possess the responsibility of casting the final verdict, in anything. The High Prince or Princess' duration of position is only as long as they so desire.The High Prince or Princess shall name his or her successor after a reviewing of all potential Mali.

 

 

The Stewards- A replacing of the current High Council. Rather than princes and princesses who are voted in by one another. We will have two of each of our families. Mali'aheral, Mali'ame and Mali'ker will each vote for a respective male and female steward. To represent their whole kind, equally. Should the High Prince or Princess no longer hold the interest of the people at heart, the Stewards may void his verdict, provided that four out of six of them agree. In the event that the High Prince or Princess no longer seems fit for their role. The Stewards have the responsibility of convincing him or her to step down, and allow the position to be refilled.

 

 

The Positions of Low Council

 

The Treasurer- Shall remain as standing.

 

The Foreman- Shall remain as standing.

 

The Head Scribe- Shall remain as standing.

 

The Head Architect- Shall remain as standing.

 

 

 

The Warden- Shall be the new overseer of Malinor's guard forces. He will be responsible for ensuring that Malinor is adequately protected. Our people and our guests are well acquainted with our laws. Our borders are being watched properly. Finally and most importantly, ensuring that every willing Mali has the training and means to defend themselves and our forests, as well as our neighbors should the need arise.

 

 

 

The Head Entertainer- Shall be in charge of providing uplifting events for all the people of Malinor and their guests. Whether this comes to plays, concerts, or festivals and other events.

 

 

 

The Head Educator- Shall be in charge of ensuring that seminars, lectures, debates as well as open debates, are held regularly within the library. Provide variety in the lessons, educators and ideals presented. As well as ensuring that any willing member of Malinor, or our guests, have the education that they so seek. 

 

 

 

Ambassadors- Shall be in charge of living within the embassies, should we have them built, in foreign territories. Each Ambassador will be assigned a specific region and bring to the attention of the High Council any concerns, issues, or matters that are positive instead. They are also asked to learn of the cultures surrounding their area, and learn how best to react to situations that involve a certain people. They will also be in charge of informing the Head Merchant of any upcoming trade needed with their regarded territory.

 

 

 

The Head Armsman- Shall be in charge of ensuring that all weapon crafting facilities are providing the needed supplies for our trade agreements, once they are developed. We may be a peaceful people, however that does not mean that our craftsmen are inadequate weaponsmiths. He will head the trading of all hunting, war, or ceremonial materials. Especially to other nations.

 

 

 

The Head Merchant- Shall be in charge of ensuring all requests of trade, especially from foreign nations, are met. Collaborations with ambassadors of these territories are recommended to ensure a proper order is placed and everyone is content with the business provided. They will be in charge of ensuring food, textiles, lumber and any other material proclaimed, non-lethal, is exchanged properly.

 

 

 

 

Policies

 

The High Prince or Princess shall hold an audience for any and all people on the day they proclaim suitable. Ideally, this will occur once every year. This is to address concerns of the people and ensure your many voices are indeed heard.

 

Relations with foreign nations, Oren being the prime concern, will have attempts to be renewed. Once these relations are reforged, the High Council will request embassies are placed within Renatus as well as Salvus, to ensure communication remains strong and progressive between our two people.

 

Trade with any and all nation will be sought for. Our only way to prosper, as a peaceful people, is ensuring not only our needs are met. But our neighbors and allies as well. 

 

The malin will still be up for debate, as its use and potential is well apparent. The consideration of resistance for its introduction, to future practicality, will be discussed once the new government is born.

Serva stops for a moment and xamines the poster, surprised it isn't one of insult and accusation of hotheaded reformers. He scans over the note and writes a short reply.

 

I, myself, would agree with this change. The only thing I might suggest is the change of the guard force. Changing the name and possibly the leader isn't going to fix everything the public believes about the Sentinels. We undergo a slow transformation of our own, and outside interference is not needed. This is a good crossroad  that both sides of the issue have neglected thus far. The needed changes will be made, and in theory, no blood shed.

 

On an OOC note, this light voting system will avoid the OOC popularity competition I noted would happen in the Ultimatum thread where all public officials are chosen directly from the poeple. Overall, I give my approval IC and OOC.

(( I can understand your want to do something that everyone likes, but the thing with a poll is any random person can come in here and vote in it wheather they are truly interested in Malinor or not.
