Melcin's Speech

 
 
Melcin stands atop a low building near the main gate. There is a large crowd around him many of which are supporters of the cause. He begins his speech that he had memorized while in prison.
 
"My Mali brothers and sisters."
 
"I have come to you today to inform you of the injustices being performed in Malinor during these troubles of ours."
 
"I have been assaulted for speaking out as I am doing now, by the Sentinels, the corrupt militia of the council."
 
"Those who support our cause are being jailed!"

"The fact that the candidates that you wish to vote for... are at this moment being persecuted in a Sentinel jail shouldn't put you off!"

"I was in one myself until awhile ago!"

"They can jail us."

"They can execute us."

"They can even conscript us!"

"They can use us as target practice for the militia!"

"But... We have a weapon more powerful... Than any in the whole arsenal of the Princedom of Malinor!"

"That weapon... is our refusal!"

"Our refusal to bow to any order but our own!"

"Any institution but our own!"
 
A group of Sentinels are seen near the main gate (as they usually are). Melcin looks over at them, so does the crowd. 

 

The crowd turns back to Melcin.

"...Our friends in the Royal Sentinel Milita want to shut me up."

"Jail me again, kill me, who knows?"

"But I'd like you to send them a message!"

"If they shut me up, who'll take my place?"

"Who'll take my place?"
 
The crowd shouts "We will!"
 
"I can't hear you! Who'll take my place?"
 
The crowd begins shouting at the sentinels.
 
"Will they shut you up?"
 
Melcin is guided off the roof safely by his men.

"Clear a path! Clear a path! Get him out! Get him out, now!", the ERA shout.

(( I'm really sorry to be posting solely with OOC.However I feel I should add that forcing a crowd to attack Sentinels is pretty questionable. Perhaps something more along the lines of... '[Name] watches carefully, mindfully praying that the crowd before him sees the logic behind his reasoning. I sincerely hope this meeting was not taken to heart Hope I helped, nice writing too.

((Yes, but I was still put in a cell with a guard watching me. There was no need to close the door because I had my face bashed in and was severely injured. Even if I wanted to fight my way out I wouldn't have the strength to.))

Serva stands apart from the larger group of Sentinels, shaded in the great shadows of the massive trees that makes the home of the Mali. He crosses his arms and frowns as Melcin speaks. Near of the end of his speech he speaks up, his voice carrying across the square, almost seeming to come from everywhere at once.

"And do you report this to a higher ranking Sentinel? Do you take any action that is before starting a riot to fix the problem? Not yet have Benedict or I, the two most senior officers been contacted by anyone, leaving with only the tales of our Sentinels. I could arrest and execute you for treason against the High Council and the Sentinels of Malinor, but do you see this spear aimed at your throat? No, it isn't. I have little doubt that you arrested justly and now your mind wishes to have its childish revenge. I would reccomend understanding the law and order system of Malinor, which you clearly do not, before you make such claims and attempt to start a riot."

I note that, as implied in previous responses, that this is in a way powergaming. You are forcing Sentinels to form up and come to stop you when at this point, we've stopped trying to silence you as it only feeds your IC claims.

As for Artimec'a OOC response, you already claim IC that the Sentinels are corrupt and arrested you for no reason (which in fact brandishing a weapon when told to sheath it IS disorderly conduct, on top of interfering with arrest) So please stop trying to bring it up to your advantage in OOC.

Serva shouts out again, stepping from the shadows. He is clad in a variation of the Sentinel uniform. He controls his voice a bit more, the acoustics would point someone in his general direction. The head of his short spear glints faintly the light.

"You call me a coward? If any Sentinel were a coward they would have put an arrow through your chest already. You speak of cowardice when you are the one with guards. Do you see a vanguard for this Sentinel, or any? You speak of corruption, but yet you are the one spreading flase words to a crowd to incite them instead of working yourself. Are these not traits of a coward?

You seemed happy enough when we fought of a group of bandits, and when we drove the Bortu from our land. Perhaps you remember the two times we saved the life of Khel. You were plenty greatful then, were you not?

You sit here, claiming we abuse the public, but I have yet to see a single instance where we take such action. Many cases one might say we should take more, but yet we spare you. This is my real question to you. How can you consider being put in a jail for how long, a matter of minutes, hours, when you KNEW that speaking treasonously would get you arrested be abuse or heavy in any way? You've no real backing to any of your claims. No arguments for your case, but mindless claims and insults to the duty we perform. That of which you are apparently too blind to recognize apparently."
