A Resignation

A bird flies through the air, swift and fast, for a seagull. It flies, on, and on, until it reaches the Valkrae lands. There, it deposits a letter, formally written, and sealed with the symbol of tears on the wind - certain bannermen and others who might have ever received a letter from him might recognize Elsil Llumn'iheiu's personal/family seal.

The letter reads as follows.

My friends and fellow comrades. I joined many dwarven years ago, when Keegan Valkrae extended his hand out to me, and, in a show of power, proved his worth, and through him, all of yours, to me. However, I no longer feel the same camaraderie I once did. And at the same time, I have found other duties quite pressing as well, and have not been there to guard brother and friend's back against the Elves. As such, I feel it necessary to resign, even if only as a show. I do not know where the winds will take me, but for my family, it has always been stained with tears. My brother, abandoned and betrayed by his own people. My family, staying back in Asulon, facing hardships beyond belief. Myself, a sailor who lost all his friends and crew, and now feels the need to leave what little family he has left - you. My blade will always be there to help you, if you ever find need or wish for me once more. But I think you will not, and it is more likely you will march to find me, and bring the axe down upon my head. But my family was always one of wanderers, wanderers living a good but brutal life. I do not know what will happen. I can only follow my family's path, and hope you will forgive me. I let the winds take me now, to wherever that tear stained land is that comes next. Perhaps, in time, I will find peace. From this point forward, look for the one called the Sword of the Sorrow's Wind. I wish you well, brothers. May the earth tremble at your approach.

-Elsil Llumn'iheiu

A courier runs by later, with the Bannerman uniform. But Elsil keeps that of the Phoenix Guardians, to remember better times.

Corvo watches the seagull carry the parchment, and also watches as it flutters onto his shoulder, and drops a letter. Corvo scrolls through the letter, a small smile at the edges of his lips. As he finishes reading the message, he takes out a match, lights it and sets the letter ablaze. He then dusts up the ashes and blows them into the wind.

"As long as no one knows you've left, they will have no reason to hunt you down. I suppose your heart beats yet another day 'Sword of the Sorrow's Wind'..."
