The End of an Age

None present could help but be moved by Godfrey's final address to the citizens of Oren. His sincerity, his clarity, and most of all, his conviction, tore across Abresi as he proclaimed the death of an Age, and with it, himself. He praised a people who had "faith like none other on the face of the land." He proudly proclaimed that he would not be sorry for the Empire he created, for the people he fearlessly molded. As many Valah openly wept at the loss of their Emperor, he expressed that he believed Oren would never fall, and it was easy to believe him as he stated it as concrete fact. With the passing of Emperor Godfrey of House Horen, Crown Prince Horen will be crowned, if he has not already, and a new page in History will begin.

Forging a New Path: A Sit Down with High Princess Titania

The fabulous High Princess Titania of The Holy Princedom of Malinor

Recently, High Princess Titania of Malinor sat down for an interview with Ebs Telrunya, at Sathoro's Tea Shop in Luemaelin. Over a cup of tea, Ebs asked Titania a few questions about being High Princess. You can find the transcript of the interview below.

Titania: Ker’Ayla Ebs.

Ebs: Ker’Ayla High Princess. Would you like to take a seat?

Titania: Certainly, have you been well?

Ebs: Indeed, I have been travelling quite often, but I return to Malinor often enough.

Titania: Good, good.

Ebs: So, how have you been llir?

Titania: I've been very well, busy as always.

Ebs: I am happy that you managed to find time in your busy schedule to speak with me.

Titania: Of course, it is my pleasure.

Ebs: So, I am going to start with a fairly general question. What do you feel has been the largest challenge while being High Princess? Many aspire to your position, but so few reach it, and even fewer pause to talk about it.

Titania: The most challenging part of being High Princess so far has been keeping up with everything honestly. It seems that something is always arising that needs my attention, and sometimes they can become cluttered and jumbled, making for a confusing schedule. Which, is where the rest of the Council comes in, thankfully/ They are a great help, and this position would be much more challenging than it already is without them.

Ebs: I can imagine. So, other than relying on the High Council, how have you overcome these challenges?

Titania: I've learned to become much more “elastic” than I have been in the past, so to speak. Constantly stretching my schedule to accommodate everything, and staying on my toes for whatever may come to my attention that take priority.

Ebs: So, as the High Princess, you are arguably the most influential Mali. Certainly, you can cause change for the better in Malinor. So, what is your vision for Malinor? Where do you see us in a decade?

Titania: My vision for Malinor… that is a bit of a tough question, for it is not just /my/ nation…

Ebs: Indeed.

Titania: I’d like to see Malinor in ten years as a nation of peace and prosperity, where Mali may with peace of mind, and live comfortably, just as you and I sit here now. I see Malinor as a safe haven of sorts, for all the Mali and lliran of Malinor.

Ebs: So, along those lines, it has been evident for some time that Malinor faces economic problems. As I understand it, people are contributing what they can in exchange for housing.

Titania: That is correct.

Ebs: Do you, or the rest of the High and Lower Councils, have any plans on the economic front, perhaps a reform of the Malin system, or something along those lines?

Titania: We do, our new Treasurer, Meta Soloray, has an economic reform in the works as we speak, it reforms the Malin system into a much more effective way to pay and exchange in Malinor. He is also working alongside the Hall of Labor so that both departments work hand in hand, making jobs in Malinor less of a back-breaking and seemingly pointless task into something much more rewarding.

Ebs: Sounds like something to look forward to.

Titania: Indeed, the document should be put onto the public board soon for the populace to view before we implement it into Malinor.

Ebs: Not too long ago we were in a state of war with Oren, as well as others. This was ended by a treaty called the Dalroi Nonaggression Pact. Do you have any comment on that?

Titania: Hmm… not too much, only that it will be time to renew the treaty soon if both nations agree, in another Elven month or so if I am not mistaken, and with the signing of that document,  many opportunities for Malinor were opened, specifically trading opportunities with the Bortu of Urguan, and I expect many more rewards as we go further into this new found peace. In short, relations on the national level are improving slowly.

Ebs: If there is nothing else for you to say, that is all I have for you.

Titania: I believe that will be all then, llir.

Ebs: Thank you again for meeting with me for this interview.

Oceas: Gates!

Titania: Anytime- Oh, I might need to get that.

The High Princess dashed off to get the gates for a somewhat confuse Prince Oceas. Only time will tell if Titania’s administration will prove more successful than the previous few, however, her energy has brought something much needed to Malinor, and I am confident she will beat whatever expectations we have set for her.

Tensions Flare to the North

The Krelm, Carrion Lands, Holy Oren Empire

Unconfirmed reports have trickled southward through the Thersist checkpoint that there is new trouble between House Blackmont and House DeNurem. DeNurem, the royal house of the Kingdom of Hanseti, has a long history of conflict with House Blackmont, which originated as far back as Asulon, in which the Blackmonts, going then by House Flay, constantly raided the Kingdom of Hanseti. The conflict, among other things, appears to be over both the lands of House Carrion, a vassal of House Blackmont, and some of Hanseti’s southern land, which is not nearly as mountainous as most of the North. There have been accusations on both sides of murders and dishonest dealings, and even reports that Teutons are arresting any Blackmont they see on sight. The lands of Blackmont lie directly north of Malinor, so it is possible any fighting there could cross the border into Malinor. Under current crown authority, vassals of Emperor Godfrey are permitted to go to war with each other under certain conditions. If it very likely that war is going to break out, if it hasn't already, and it is advised for all Mali to avoid the North.

Goldman Co. Collapse

The Rat and Crow Tavern, a former Goldman Co. Establishment, now no longer operated.

Rumors circulated last elven week that Goldman has disappeared, and it was later confirmed that he had indeed died. With his death, Goldman Co., the largest employer and corporation in Anthos fell apart. This triggered a severe economic recession, with iron prices rising 50% to fall back to around 25% of pre-Goldman levels. Though many of Goldman’s properties have been appropriated and some reopened, this has not helped relieve the burden. Towns such as Baile, Aldersburg, and Abresi are nearly abandoned. Other towns, such as Ager and Furnstocke, are ghost towns. Salvus has been hurt as well, with many sudden evictions and few looking to buy homes as the markets fluctuate wildly. Nothing is certain in the economy these days, and there are no signs that this recession will reverse any time soon.

Refounding of Darkhaven

Former Prince Khel, along with his Oussana brethren and several others, have moved into the ruins of Darkhaven. Originally founded in order to provide a home for the Mali'ker at a time when many believed High Prince Kolyat was discriminating against the Mali'ker, it declared independence during the yearlong civil war. As civil order broke down in Malinor and Oren and the Bortu threatened to invade, Darkhaven sent troops to patrol the city neglected by the Sentinels. They eventually withdrew to isolation, and Darkhaven went silent. Many of the Mali'ker returned to Malinor, and some moved to Vaerhaven, in the Kingdom of Urguan. The city fell in the hands of a rebellious faction in Oren, and was invaded by a joint task force of Mali and Valah which drove out the rebels. It was mostly destroyed, but now Khel and company are attempting to rebuild from the ashes. Progress is slow going, as much rubble had to be removed, but I expect bright things from one of the primary builders on the Elven Settlement on Kalos. Presumably, this settlement will remain part of Malinor, but only time will tell if that remains true.

Rebellion in the Halls of Urguan

The rebellious Hold of Vaer'haven

After a break in the Irongut clan created the Thunderfist clan, the along with Vaerhaven, a notably diverse settlement in the Kingdom of Urguan, have set themselves up in opposition to King Thorin, who rules from Kal'Azgoth. All indicators show that most of the holds have remained loyal to the King, but Vaerhaven has a much larger population than many of the holds. While I do not expect the rebels to prevail, it will destabilize the Kingdom of Urguan and divide a normally united people. Already, the government in Kal'Azgoth has attempted to cut off Vaer'haven from the outside world, blocking off the docks. General sentiment in Vaer'haven in optimistic, with strong support for the rebels. Many cite past grievances with Kal'Azgoth, including the arrest of several members of a mysterious organization referred to as "The Fallen." Vaer'haven is governed in part by a Council, with no direct oversight by Kal'Azgoth.

Grits his teeth together as a his forgotten hatred towards Koylat is once again stirred as the paper reminds him of the statements of the former high prince

"If only I could of wrapped my hands around that fairie's scrawny neck"

Khel says through gritted teeth. He suddenly shakes his head about, causing long silvery strands of hair to sway about and the primal hate towards Koylat to dwindle. Khel hands the paper to an Oussana, letting them gaze upon it with their iconic jet black eyes.

"Close enough"

Elorna smiles to herself as she reads through the paper, finally nodding as she finishes. "It is good to see this has returned," she says.
