A Swarm In Lenfarthing

Lenfarthing seemed placid and peaceful, many halflings were about doing their normal daily routines. Songs could be heard throughout the city, small halflings running about the street with a chipper demeanor, bellowing out rident cries. Other townsfolk were inside maintaining the orderly structure of their burrows. Polls were resting on the docks and fish could be seen splashing about in the small ponds. This was nothing more than a normal day for the hobbits, or at least they thought.

Almost as sudden as the blink of an eye a minacious buzzing sound could be heard from the south. What looked like a massive storm cloud quickly enveloped the entire city, the buzzing sound drained out the shrieks and shouts of the denizens.

As the town gets covered the townsfolk notice it is not a storm, but small bugs. The harmless looking insects seem to be ravaging the town at an insurmountable rate.

They begin to swarm through the vast acres of cropland. The golden wheat and beige potatoes almost instantly turn into barren wastelands. The desolation of the crops bring an a pain into the eyes of the hobbits. The insects continue to swarm, looking to destroy any greenery in their path. The fields are lain to waste, and the once merry day is no more.

((This is an event the elders wanted me to write up for you guys. Feel free to post here or go in game and roleplay the destruction and arrival of the locusts. Have fun!))

Hugo just finishes nailing in the last plank into his neighbor's floor. He wipes the sweat from his brow as he enters his own home. As he pours himself a drink, he peeks out the window. He sees the lush hills, the big trees and the barren crop fields. Wait...

"BARREN CROP FIELDS?!"

The Aftermath:

The swarm begins to die out, a mad mage burning many of them into a crisp. The insects disappear into the clouds, leaving Lenfarthing in a mess of fire and torn greenery. The city rushes around frantically, doing anything they can to lessen the destruction.

Posco Bramble pokes his head out of his pristine untouched burrow to look at his neighbor Hugo's burrow. After noticing all the damage caused to everything, except for his own burrow, he slowly moves his head back into his burrow while mumbling in a soft almost creepy tone.

"Oh dear."
