Gideon Silverblade's Court Summons

Recommended Posts

To the public and Gideon of House Silverblade,

The Emperor and the Privy Council hereby summon Gideon ‘Pius’ Silverblade to the Imperial court where he will answer for his various misdemeanours.

The Privy Council of the Holy Oren Empire has placed suspicion and Imperial scrutiny on the individual known by law as GideonPius’ Silverblade for dastardly acts and criminal offences including but not limited to:

- Illicit selling of crown property

- Fraud

- Embezzlement

- Bearing a title legally not in his possession

It is the opinion of the Privy Council and the legal authority of the Holy Oren Empire that Lord Silverblade has fraudulently sold property within the Imperial capital, Abresi, without the approval of the Imperial Treasury, the Emperor or any other such authority. It is estimated by the Privy Council that the combined sum of this fraud and his other crimes amounts to approximately ~25,000 minas.

In accordance with the following article of Imperial Law:

Book V: Concerning Business Transactions, Article VIII, Concerning Those Who Sell, Or Give Away, The Property Of Others:

Whenever a dispute arises concerning the ownership of property which has been sold or given away: that is to say, if it should be established that anyone has sold or given away what belonged to another, no blame shall attach to the purchaser. But he who has been so bold as to sell or give away the property of another, shall be forced to pay double its value to the owner thereof, shall return the price which he has received to the purchaser, and shall undergo the penalty prescribed by the bill of sale.

In accordance with the quoted article, Lord Silverblade shall be expected to pay fifty thousand (50,000) minas should he be found guilty in a court of law. Twenty-five thousand (25,000) minas in damages, and an additional twenty-five thousand (25,000) in legal reparations. Should he fail to pay this sum at an announcement of guilt by the presiding judge shall result in punishment from the hand of Our Majestic Emperor, or those most trusted in executing his will.

In addition to this, the Imperial Privy Council, acting once again on the authority and will of His Imperial Majesty, declares the title 'King of Holm' to be null, void, and invalid without a corresponding Imperial Edict establishing it as a legal entity. The Privy Council also challenges Lord Gideon of House Silverblade's alleged use of the title 'King of Holm' which is a factitious one not recognized by the Imperial Council as a part of the Holy Oren Empire in the absence of an aforementioned edict.

The Imperial Privy Council urges all members of the peasantry, bourgeoisie, and nobility to report further use of this fraudulent title before the trial, and to not recognize such any such 'Royal' titles not yet established by Imperial Edict.

If Gideon of House Silverblade fails to comply, the use of violent force is warranted and expected, and any acts of fleeing or otherwise evading the Emperor’s justice will be seen as a concession of guilt. Likewise, the act of threatening or coercing the Privy Council into dropping the charges will be marked as Treason Punishable with the removal of all lands and titles, and in most extreme cases death.

As ordered by the Lord High Sheriff,

Count Shas’O Kais of House Ishikawa,

As written and sealed by the Lord Privy Seal,

Count Hadrien Goldman of House de Sarkozy,

As issued by the Lord High Steward,

Lord Gilneas of House Vivyaen,

In accordance with the authority and command of His Imperial Majesty,

Emperor Horen V

Ser Audric Silverblade looks over the notice, gritting his teeth in anger as he takes into consideration its various allegations. He makes his way to his home and sits down to write a letter, addressing it to the Privy Council of Oren.

"To all whom it may concern upon the Privy Council of Oren,

I am writing this letter to inform that my brother, Pius Silverblade, has been made aware of the various allegations you have made against him and that I as the Elder of Peace in House Silverblade, hereby speak on his behalf. Therefore, I must regret to inform you that we adamantly deny the charges and accept your request for a fair trial upon the Imperial Court of Oren.

To the extent of our knowledge, this property of 'another' that you make mention of in fact belonged to our late cousin, Boiendl Silverblade, and therefore due to inheritance, its rights lay with his family. Should you have refuted this claim and proven our records incorrect, we would have been willing to discuss the ownership of said estate. I wish to further inform you that the property you are referring to has not yet been sold and has in fact been granted residence to a family, free of any charge. Therefore the claim that possessing the rights to this home amount to a fine of 50,000 minas is nothing but a greed filled attempt to embezzle money from our family's treasury.

As for the second allegation, the title 'King of Holm' was bestowed upon my brother by the late Duke Patrick Denims-Therving, shortly before his death and to my brother's knowledge, confirmed by his Imperial majesty, Emperor Godfrey, through his granting of land. When Duke Patrick possessed this title, he was entitled to no such land and it was merely intended as honourary. Therefore, we question the validity under which such claims have been made and request to know why the matter had not been brought to us before now.

Our loyalty has and always will be to the Holy Oren Empire and his Imperial Majesty, Horen V. These claims of falsehood are not taken lightly and it is our belief that a gross form of miscommunication has led to these malicious and harmful allegations, thus allowing ulterior motives to play their part in giving way for such claims to be made. We hope that a fair trial will rightfully settle these allegations against my brother and prove his innocence upon the matters at hand."

The note is signed at the bottom with the name "Ser Audric Silverblade" and bears the seal of House Silverblade.

Pius sits on his island given to him by Godrey as he hears about such from a squire. He turns to his brother.

"Perhaps I should hide my money somewhere... It seems as if they are bringing up these false charges because the treasury is poor. I didn't think Horen was that type of man... Now it also seems as though Mirtok has decided to threaten our family once again. Perhaps he has forgotten the ill decisions of Lion DeNurem. Now, let us engage upon our conversations of assistance to the Blackmonts for tis the time to happen now."
