Though when with strangers he tends to exercise caution while not trying to make that caution obvious, and would observe the person before opening up to them. 

Inventory: A longsword and a shortsword are often sheathed along his belt, along with a hunting knife sheathed at the back of his waist. He often carries a recurve bow and a quiver of arrows as well. Tarin often brings a satchel along with him, it's contents ranging from a journal to food.
